Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: The Crimson Reckoning

The air crackled with more than just the retreating monsoon. A primal hum vibrated in Vikram's bones, a symphony of rage and defiance that had ignited the very shadows around him. The Auditor, previously an unshakeable monolith of digital authority, now flickered, its ethereal form glitching like a corrupt file on a dying server.

"System error," the Auditor's voice rasped, the usual cold monotone laced with a tremor that was almost—human. "This entity... is not accounted for. Unauthorized interference detected."

Vikram didn't reply. He couldn't. His body felt like a conduit for a storm. One eye remained his own, a dark, calculating orb, while the other blazed with the infernal Crimson light of Krishna. The Shadow, no longer a mere follower, was a fused extension of his will, a silent, furious rebellion.

He advanced, each step resonating with the new, terrifying power coursing through him. The Auditor, regaining a semblance of control, recoiled slightly. "Debtor, you defy the very fabric of existence. Your debt... is now irreversible. Penalty: Soul Severance initiated."

A blinding scarlet light erupted from the Auditor, not aimed at Vikram, but at the very ground beneath their feet. The alleyway fractured, pavements cracking like fragile glass, revealing a shimmering, abyssal void beneath. It was meant to destabilize, to make Vikram fall.

But Vikram was no longer just Vikram. He was the Debt-Collector, forged in the unforgiving streets of Bhopal, tempered by betrayal and hardened by the System's cruelty. He stood firm, his combined strength with Krishna anchoring him.

"Irreversible?" Vikram's voice was a low growl, a stark contrast to his usual nonchalant tone. "Bhopal mein humne kachre ke dher par apni kismat badli hai, Auditor. Tu toh phir bhi ek sarkaari file hai. Debt chahiye? Toh aa, khud vasool karke dikha."

As he spoke, the Crimson energy intensified, flowing from his Shadow-infused eye directly into his right hand, which he now extended. The very air compressed, forming a tangible, vibrating sphere of dark energy. This wasn't a System ability; this was pure, raw defiance, channeled through Krishna's forbidden power.

The Auditor, for the first time, manifested a faint aura of true fear. "Impossible! This power... it bypasses System protocols! It's... chaos!"

"Chaos?" Vikram scoffed, a dark laugh rumbling in his chest. "No, this is called 'settling the score.' And today, the score is settled with extreme prejudice."

With a guttural roar, Vikram unleashed the sphere. It didn't just fly; it warped space, tearing through the air with a screech that made the entire block tremble. The Auditor, in a desperate attempt, erected a shimmering, multi-layered shield of pure data. But it was too late.

The Crimson energy sphere slammed into the shield. It didn't explode; it devoured. The Auditor's defenses shattered like ice, not from impact, but from a cancerous corruption spreading through its very code. Lines of green binary code bled into crimson, then vanished into nothingness.

The Auditor's form convulsed, its digital face twisting into a silent scream. "Anomaly detected! Debtor... is... corrupting... System..."

In a final burst of digital static, the Auditor's form disintegrated, not into light or ash, but into a rain of fragmented binary code that dissipated before touching the ground. A chilling silence descended, broken only by the steady drip of the monsoon's aftermath.

Vikram stood panting, the Crimson light in his eye slowly receding, leaving behind a profound exhaustion. He looked at his hands, still tingling with residual power. He had done it. He had faced a System entity and not just survived, but obliterated it.

A new notification flashed before him, not red, but a pulsating violet.

[CRITICAL SYSTEM ALERT: ANOMALY 007 HAS DEFIED DIRECT JUDGEMENT]

[NEW CLASS UNLOCKED: 'SHADOW GOVERNOR' (Level 1)]

[CURRENT DEBT: UNKNOWN - ERROR 404. SYSTEM RECALIBRATION INITIATED.]

[WARNING: GREATER AUDITORS DISPATCHED. ESTIMATED ARRIVAL: 24 HOURS.]

Vikram read the final warning, a grim smile spreading across his face. "So, the real party's just starting, huh? Looks like I'll need more than a few tricks up my sleeve." He pulled out his Shadow Dagger, the blade gleaming ominously in the dim light. "Let them come. I've got a whole city's worth of debt to collect."
