Chapter 19 - Angel Orphanage - Part one

Somewhere undisclosed, in one of Breeders laboratories,

"But breeder…" a scientist walked to the side of Breeder, Dog in tow. "Which one did you want to snag from Nest?"

"Huh?" Breeder wasn't perturbed in the least.

"Its not the dragonfly who caught the earwig is it?" The scientist sighed, " 'Cuz flying types are a pain to breed…"

"Dont worry, haha." Breeder remained indifferent, "it's not him, although he is pretty tempting, there's no merit in collecting him yet."

He turned, the same calm smile on his face, "The one im trying to bring back now… is a specimen I've been raising for a long time."

"Answer me asshole." Do-Hyeok was more than confused.

Dohwa suddenly acts all buddy-buddy with some guy and dips mid fight.

Not only that, the guy glazes at him like he owes the guy money.

And now, Dohwa was left unconscious by said suspicious guy and tied in some ominous web.

Clearly, something was off.

Junhyeong snatched away from Do-Hyeok's grip and moved back.

Do-Hyeok ignored him, the victim was priority.

"Oi, Dohwa." Do-Hyeok began to shake the unconscious Dohwa but she didn't budge, "Wake up."

She seemed way too at peace for someone who was put to sleep by force. Which led to Do-Hyeok's conclusion of the beer knocking her out.

GRIP-!

Suddenly he felt a strong grip on his shoulder.

"Stop getting in my way…"

Then he was thrown away by Junhyeong.

"...and fuck off!"

Suddenly a surplus of black feathers began to fall around them.

Do-Hyeok landed on his feet and commented,

"Whats up with the feathers? You got some kind of edgy defense mechanism to go with the look?"

Junhyeong ignored him, "I wouldn't touch those if I were you…"

Goliath birdeater.

"They sting."

A species of tarantula often known as the "bird-eating spider". Ejects numerous urticating hairs spiked with stinging barbs.

"Pft" Do-Hyeok looked like he was about to laugh his ass off.

"Haah?" Junhyeong was baffled.

"Pft! Haha-D-Dude are y-you an edgelord or cornball? hahahahaha!!!" Do-Hyeok couldn't contain his laughter.

Junhyeong was visibly unhappy.

"SHUT UP!

Dohwa is coming with me.

Everyone has a place that's best suited for them, and this isn't the place for her.

Once we leave, she'll never be back at Nest again."

And with that last sentence, it all clicked with Do-Hyeok.

"You're no student, huh?"

And a second later,

BOOM-!

Junhyeong lunged at Do-Hyeok.

[Overdrive]

Junhyeong grabbed nothing but air.

"Let me guess…" Do-Hyeok dodged. "Youre clearly close with Dohwa, otherwise she wouldn't act like that."

"you shouldn't have pried into personal matters."

Junhyeong grew more feathers behind his body in a wing-like formation and zipped them all toward Do-Hyeok.

Defense mechanism of the Tarantula.

Sting sling.

Do-Hyeok wasn't fazed however, these flying feathers were practically still to his compound eyes.

ZIP-!

He weaved through all the feather-like hairs and…

BAM-!

Socked Junhyeong in the face!

"Guh!"

Junhyeong was sent flying!

"Judging from the context clues… you're some kind of stalker childhood friend or something?" Do-Hyeok was still mocking him.

"Pft! I bet you're the type that thinks 'no one understands me but her' (lol)." Do-Hyeok was having fun to say the least.

With Junhyeong down, Do-Hyeok walked over to Dohwa.

"Hey scorpi. This isn't the place to sleep."

But then…

SHHKK-!

Thinking that Junhyeong was unconscious, Do-Hyeok foolishly let his guard down in favour of helping Dohwa.

This let Junhyeong get up and prepare his neutralising attack.

Black mamba.

Two bite marks appeared on Do-Hyeok's neck.

And he began to feel light headed, "What did you…"

Junhyeong spoke

"you almost fractured my jaw…"

'What…'

"That's a good complex you've got…"

'...did he hit me with…'

"But not as good as mine."

And then, before Do-Hyeok fully blacked out he saw in the distance a person, one with oddly distinct green wings.

Then black.

Sometime later, Do-Hyeok woke up to pitch black.

He was lying in a bed in some kind of dark room.

'What happened?'

He looked down.

'And where the hell is my shirt?'

Then he felt a weight on the left side of his body

Someone was leaning against him.

He slowly turned to his left to see who it was.

"Mmng." The voice to his left stirred.

'?!'

It was Dohwa.

Peacefully sleeping against him without a care in the world.

That was of course…

"...?"

Until she woke up.

"???"

First was confusion.

"?!"

Then fluster.

"WHAT THE HELL DID WE DO LAST NIGHT, BASTARD?!"

BAM-!

Then an all-out assault.

Minutes later, the two fully woke up.

Dohwa, visibly calmer but still just as sharp.

And Do-Hyeok with a headache caused by a strike to the head from said Dohwa.

"Last I remember, that emo poisoned me and dragged us here…" Do-Hyeok began.

"No… Junhyeong wouldn't do that" Dohwa defended.

"Haah? He tied you up in his web and was ready to kidnap you. What do you mean he wouldn't do that?" Do-Hyeok was confused.

"Like I said, Junhyeong would never do something like that." Dohwa remained firm.

Arguing with her was useless. So Do-Hyeok got up and surveyed his surroundings.

'Windows are boarded, basically no light, and I can only assume that door's locked…'

"Looks like we're trapped…" Do-Hyeok sighed.

No shit Sherlock.

Then all of a sudden…

CLACK-!

a clacking sound resounded from the door.

""?!""

The two got up and stood on guard.

CREAK-!

The door opened.

"Guys, I'm supposed to tell you that it's lunch time."

It was a little girl.

""???""

The two confusingly followed the girl out into the hallway.

This girl then walked over to the room opposite theres and opened the door.

"DAMMIT I BROKE MY CURFEW, AND I EVEN MISSED CLASSES TODAY!!! WHAT'S GONNA HAPPEN TO MY GRADES?!"

The screaming man from the room was none other than…

"WHAT DO I- Huh?"

Jang Suchan.

Apparently, Hyeseong couldn't reach Dohwa during the student orientation so Suchan went to go find her

About five minutes later he saw an unconscious Dohwa and Do-Hyeok from the sky and went to check on them.

He got into a fight with Junhyeong, got taken down and the next thing he knew, he woke up in a boarded room with a locked door.

Do-Hyeok appreciated the sentiment but clearly, him losing to that Tarantula didn't help.

"And now we're here." Do-Hyeok finished the story.

"Yup." Suchan replied, "where exactly are we anyway?"

The three stood in a small cafeteria filled to the brim with kids and caretakers.

"Angel orphanage." Dohwa responded, "This is where I grew up."

She seemed a little sad,

"This small orphanage in the countryside."

Suddenly, a couple of the children surrounded Dohwa.

"Woah! What's that?"

"Is that a real tail?"

To which Dohwa replied,

"It's just a toy."

""COOL!!!""

Then the kids started to touch her tail and ask an absurd amount of questions.

It was clear Dohwa was getting frustrated.

But, before she kicked a kid to the curb,

ZIP-!

She fled.

""She ran away…""

'What is this, a comedy routine' Do-Hyeok could only watch in amusement.

Then an old woman approached Suchan and Do-Hyeok.

"How did you sleep?"

It was the orphanage director.

"You must be Junhyeong and Dohwa's friends right? Make yourselves at home."

The two sat across from the director.

"Thank you for washing our clothes… I was wondering where they went." Suchan began.

"Oh, it's no trouble. Suchan and Do-Hyeok, was it?" The director replied, "Junhyeong brought you three here last night."

'Figures.' Do-Hyeok thought.

"The gut with the bandages on his face?" Suchan asked to confirm.

The director replied, "That's him. Junhyeong grew up at this orphanage with Dohwa. He's like a son to me and I couldn't turn him away."

'Called it.' Do-Hyeok just hit an imaginary parlay.

"So where is he now?" He asked.

"Im not sure… he just asked me to take care of you for a few days and left." The director promptly responded.

'He's either cocky or he went to see someone important.' Do-Hyeok was slightly offended.

Either him or Suchan could get away from the orphanage with little to no resistance.

"So how is Dohwa doing these days? She's not getting picked on or bullied by other kids your age, is she?" the director seemed worried.

"Oh, not at all," Suchan said.

"More like she's doing the- Agh!" Do-Hyeok began to speak but Suchan elbowed him.

'What the hell, dude?' Do-Hyeok glared at Suchan.

"I often worry about her," the director continued. "since she was such a fragile and tender child."

The two paused,

"Do you mean Dohwa?" Suchan asked.

"...Yeah I can't imagine that no matter how hard I-Agh!" Do-Hyeok was elbowed again.

'Again bro?!'

"When she suddenly showed up with some strange tail on her, I was so shocked." the director commented.

'...you don't look shocked…' Do-Hyeok grew suspicious.

Dohwa was currently sitting in the bed she woke up in, reminiscing.

Years ago, Angel orphanage.

Dohwa was a sweet girl.

Nothing like how she was now.

One day she left to go to school and…

"See you later!" Dohwa smiled and waved.

"It's been too long Dohwa…" a gruff voice boomed from in front of her.

SHUDDER-!

Instinctual fear.

She couldn't move.

"Ive been a bad father haven't I?" His words were slurred, "But all I did was hit you, and those bastards took you from me…"

The man was clearly intoxicated.

"Go inside and tell them that daddy's back, got it?"

Dohwa stammered over her words.

"I… no…. W-wha…"

"Or are you going to report me to the police like last time?" The man had an ankle collar on.

"...please" Dohwa whispered for help but no one came.

"GO AND TELL THEM BEFORE I BEAT YOU AGAIN!!!" The man raised a bottle to her.

Back to now,

Dohwa bit her lip.

"Shit…This place just brings up bad memories…"
