Eros clenched his fist and immediately, the purple flame went out. The wisps also stopped their movement floating silently in the air like they weren't capable of death and destruction.
As for Eros, he had already mapped out the entire premises in his head, he wouldn't need the light for the time being.
Right now, the major problem he would have to get through was how to attach a burning flame to the Dragon. Eros already had a plan for that, but the more time passed the more he felt it would be too dangerous.
After all, if the dragon turned out to be hiding its aura—something monsters never did—then he might as well jump into the grim reaper's embrace.
He hesitated for a moment, a deep frown etched on his face, combined with a look of contemplation.
In the end, Eros shook his head and decided not to think about any of that.
He removed his entire sword belt and detached it from his waist. After disconnecting it from his sword, he was left with a piece of leather that could be tied around the dragon's neck.
The material was easily flammable, so the plan should work out—in theory, at least.
In practice? He would most likely get knocked away when it tried fitting it around its neck.
Still, there was no going back now, he took a deep breath and began moving to the sleeping creature, preparing to do the impossible.
Even when he was just a few meters away, there was no movement from the creature. This brought up another possibility, perhaps the creature had noticed his presence but had promptly dismissed it.
The more Eros thought about it the more likely that possibility grew, after all why would a prestigious dragon bother with a human of the lowest rank?
This made Eros' eye twitch and he snickered. But this just made things easier, if the dragon had its guard up, he wouldn't even be able to get close enough.
He was only a few meters away: a distance that could be closed in a fraction of a second. With a deep breath, he steeled his resolve and began circulating his Nexus, activating the dragon blood technique.
In the same instant, the crimson aura enveloped him, bathing him in all its glory.
The dragon sensed the change, opening its eyes which formed two parallel slits of pitch black.
This took Eros aback, as he hadn't expected its eyes to be pitch black. But that didn't change anything. He was already running towards it.
Before the creature's eyes could follow the approaching figure, the human was already upon it.
Eros jumped through the air, grabbing onto the dragon's back, and pivoting himself for stability.
Immediately, the creature let out a roar, a roar so loud that Eros knew if he didn't have a perfect body, he would've lost his hearing.
Even with a perfect body, he could still feel the lines of blood rolling out of his ears.
However, his grip didn't waver as his hands grabbed fiercely onto the ridges of the creature.
The dragon, annoyed by this insignificant creature disturbing its rest, took to its feet and began shaking violently. In that instant, Eros realised that he had taken one great misstep. And that misstep was that he had thought he would be able to shrug off the dragon's movement.
As his body swayed violently in the air, he was hardly able to maintain his grip. Tying a piece of leather around its neck? That was a pipe dream.
"Shit shit shit," Eros kept on cursing as the scale dug into his skin, causing him to bleed out.
The more the dragon shook the more he realised how powerful the creature was. Even though it wasn't a true dragon, it still wasn't something he could hope to compete with just yet.
If he lost his grip though, then he was dead. But there was hardly anything he could do now that he hadn't lost his grip. But to wait for death wasn't something Eros would ever do.
Perhaps it was the press of death, or maybe it was something else that planted an idea in his mind. A suicidal thought.
But with nowhere else to go, and nothing else to do this would be his only chance at survival.
He began infusing Nexus into his clothes, while also getting flung around by the mythical creature.
It was hard to focus his energy, incredibly so. But he did it in the end. At the point of saturation, his clothes ignited with a bright flame.
Eros gritted his teeth as he felt his skin begin to burn underneath. Luckily, this was a normal flame, so his body was quite resistant to it.
Even then, it was still extremely painful, and he had to bite his tongue to stop himself from screaming.
The dragon had no idea why the human on him was currently burning, not that it cared though. To it, Eros was nothing more than a nuisance.
What really made it concerned were the dark wisps floating about. Even though it had been in this realm for so many years, it hardly left this area. So it was hard to tell what they were.
Eros grinned when the dragon swiped its claw at one of the orbs. As expected, what followed was an explosion.
Eros couldn't be more joyful as he watched one of the dragon's claws get dislodged and its palm began bleeding profusely.
It let out another roar, this one much more powerful than the last. And it took everything in Eros not to cover his ears as more blood flowed out of his ears.
That wasn't the end. Three more wisps had already closed the distance and instinctively the Dragon tried to block. Three more explosions, three more cries, and threw more holes in the dragon's body.
More than twenty wisps were flying towards the Dragon and it seemed to realise how dangerous the situation was, albeit, a little too late.
Two more hit it and the explosions rang out. At this point the Dragon was on the edge of tears, it had no idea what it had done wrong.
Eros didn't expect the dragon to immediately start running away, so he was a bit shocked when the mythical creature began running away while whimpering.
The creature was now covered in blood, as it scurried away.
