Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: The Hunter Association Debriefing

The Hunter Association Headquarters in Neo-Seoul was a monument to human resilience and ambition. A gleaming spire of chrome and glass, it pierced the perpetually overcast sky, dwarfing the surrounding skyscrapers. Inside, the atmosphere was one of hushed efficiency, a stark contrast to the chaos Han-sol had just emerged from. He sat in a plush, ergonomic chair in a sterile debriefing room, the air conditioning a frigid bite against his still-aching body.

Opposite him sat Commander Ahn, the A-Rank Hunter who had led the recovery team in the Core chamber. Her gaze was as sharp and analytical as a System diagnostic. Beside her was a man in a crisp, dark suit, his face unreadable, his eyes betraying nothing. Han-sol's System, now functioning without the constant noise of errors, still registered a faint, almost imperceptible [STATUS: UNKNOWN] around the suited man, a rare occurrence that made Han-sol uneasy.

"Han-sol, Lee," Commander Ahn began, her voice devoid of emotion. "Your official report details an unprecedented event. An F-Rank porter, with a passive Error Detection skill, somehow managed to stabilize a critical Floor Collapse, defeat a System Guardian, neutralize a Data Wraith, and ultimately, sever the connection of a Rogue System Administrator to the Primary Core. Is this an accurate summary?"

Han-sol nodded. "Yes, Commander. My skill… it evolved during the crisis. It allowed me to see and interact with the Tower's System errors." He omitted the mental and physical toll, the sheer agony of each rewrite. They wouldn't understand.

The suited man leaned forward, his voice a low, smooth baritone. "And this 'evolution,' Han-sol. Was it a conscious act? Did you understand the implications of rewriting core System protocols?"

"I… I just reacted," Han-sol admitted, choosing his words carefully. "The System showed me the errors, and the options to fix them. It was either rewrite, or die. Or let the entire Tower collapse." He didn't mention the [INITIATE REWRITE PROTOCOL? Y/N] prompts, or the [GLITCH: UNHANDLED EXCEPTION] that had started it all. He instinctively knew that revealing the full extent of his unique interaction with the System might be dangerous.

Commander Ahn exchanged a glance with the suited man. "Your account is… extraordinary, Han-sol. Unprecedented. The System has never before allowed direct manipulation of its core functions by an Awakened, let alone an F-Rank."

"Indeed," the suited man interjected. "We've analyzed the residual mana signatures in the Core chamber. Your rewrite was… surgical. Precise. It bypassed all known System defenses. It's as if you spoke the Tower's own language."

Han-sol remained silent, his mind racing. They were probing, trying to understand something even he barely comprehended. He felt a flicker of the blue network, a subtle hum beneath his consciousness. The Tower, even now, seemed to be communicating with him, guiding his responses.

"What is your current understanding of your skill, Error Rewrite?" Commander Ahn pressed. "Can you replicate it? Can you target specific System functions?"

"I can see errors," Han-sol explained, trying to sound confident. "And if the error is… accessible, I can attempt to rewrite it. But it's incredibly draining. And I don't fully control what options the System presents." He was being vague, deliberately so. He couldn't risk revealing the true depth of his ability, the potential to rewrite anything, not just errors, but fundamental aspects of reality.

The suited man steepled his fingers. "We believe your skill is a unique manifestation of the [DEBUGGER] class, a theoretical class previously thought to be impossible. A direct interface with the System's underlying code. This makes you… invaluable."

Invaluable. The word resonated with a strange mix of fear and hope. For so long, he had been worthless, a burden. Now, he was invaluable. But to whom? And for what purpose?

"The Rogue Administrator, identified as a former high-ranking System Architect named Kaelen, was attempting to seize control of the Tower's Primary Core to initiate a global System Override," Commander Ahn continued, her voice grim. "His goal was to reshape reality according to his own twisted vision. You prevented a catastrophe of unimaginable scale, Han-sol."

"So, what happens now?" Han-sol asked, finally finding his voice. "Am I… a Hunter now?"

Commander Ahn and the suited man exchanged another look. "The Hunter Association has a proposition for you, Han-sol," the suited man said. "Given the unprecedented nature of your skill, and the potential dangers it represents if uncontrolled, we cannot simply let you return to your previous life. Nor can we allow your abilities to fall into the wrong hands."

"We are offering you a place in the Neo-Seoul Hunter Academy," Commander Ahn stated. "Not as a typical recruit, but as a special case. You will undergo specialized training, learn to control and refine your unique skill, and integrate into the Awakened community. In return, you will be under the direct supervision of the Association, and your abilities will be utilized for the greater good."

Han-sol's mind reeled. The Academy. A place he had only dreamed of, a place for the elite, the powerful. But a special case. Under supervision. It sounded less like an offer and more like a gilded cage. He thought of his sister, her fragile health, the debt that still loomed over them. The Academy offered resources, protection, and a path to power he could never have imagined.

"What about my family?" he asked, his voice tight. "My sister's medical expenses?"

The suited man smiled, a thin, almost predatory curve of his lips. "All will be taken care of, Han-sol. The Association will ensure your family's well-being. Consider it a… recruitment bonus. Your sister will receive the best medical care available. Your debt will be cleared. All you have to do is accept."

It was an offer he couldn't refuse. A golden handcuff, perhaps, but one that promised safety and a future for his sister. He looked at Commander Ahn, then at the suited man, whose [STATUS: UNKNOWN] still flickered in his System. He knew, instinctively, that this was a pivotal moment. His life as a porter was truly over. His life as a Debugger, a pawn in a larger game, was just beginning.

"I accept," Han-sol said, his voice firm, a new resolve hardening his gaze. He would enter the Academy. He would learn. And he would uncover the truth behind the System, the Overrider, and the mysterious forces that sought to control it. He was a Debugger, and the world was his code. He would not be a pawn. He would be the Sovereign. The path ahead was uncertain, fraught with hidden errors and powerful adversaries, but for the first time, Han-sol felt a flicker of genuine hope. His sister's smile, now a clear, vibrant image in his mind, fueled his determination. He would not just survive; he would thrive. And he would rewrite his own destiny, one glitch at a time.
