Chapter 55 - Chapter 55: The Primordial Glitch

The Data Purger, now a neutral entity, continued its work, its amorphous form gently absorbing the flickering outlines of the unrendered Awakened, integrating their fragmented data into its own. It was a chilling sight, a testament to the System's cold, logical efficiency. Han-sol watched, a knot of unease tightening in his stomach. While the immediate threat of being unrendered was gone, the fate of these integrated Awakened remained uncertain. Would they retain their consciousness, their memories, or would they become mere extensions of the Purger's protocols?

[AWAKENED (INTEGRATED): STATUS - STABLE (CONFORMING)]

[CONSCIOUSNESS: REWRITTEN (UNKNOWN EXTENT)].

"We need to find the source of this primordial glitch," Han-sol declared, his gaze fixed on the shimmering static that surrounded them. "The Purger is just a symptom, a defense mechanism. The real problem is the ancient corruption that triggered it."

Luna, her data-pad now connected to the Purger's stabilized network, nodded grimly. "The Purger's logs indicate the anomaly originated from a deep-sea trench off the coast of Neo-Busan. It's a region of extreme geological instability, and ancient mana currents. The System has been trying to 'patch' it for millennia, but it seems Kaelen's interference, even indirectly, destabilized the patch."

[PRIMORDIAL GLITCH: ORIGIN - DEEP-SEA TRENCH]

[STATUS: ACTIVE (DESTABILIZED)]

[SYSTEM PATCH: FAILED].

"A deep-sea trench?" Kai grunted, his brow furrowed. "So, we're going diving into a glitched ocean?"

"It's the only way," Han-sol replied. "The Purger's logs show a direct correlation between the trench's activity and the expansion of the Static Shore. The primordial glitch is radiating from there, slowly corrupting the System's rendering of reality."

Yuna's voice crackled through their comms, filled with a new sense of urgency. "Commander Ahn has authorized a deep-sea submersible. It's mana-shielded and equipped with advanced System scanners. But be warned, Han-sol. The trench is a known 'dead zone' for mana. Conventional System protocols often fail there."

"Then we'll have to rely on unconventional ones," Han-sol murmured, his eyes fixed on the projected map of the deep-sea trench, a swirling vortex of ancient mana currents and geological anomalies. His Error Detection skill was already picking up faint, almost imperceptible tremors, echoes of a primordial error that had been dormant for millennia.

Their journey to the deep-sea trench was swift. The submersible, a sleek, mana-powered vessel, cut through the unrendered waters of the Static Shore, its advanced mana shields shimmering against the encroaching static. As they descended, the light from the surface faded, replaced by the eerie glow of bioluminescent creatures and the occasional flicker of corrupted data.

Han-sol's System was a constant hum of warnings,

[ENVIRONMENT: DEEP-SEA TRENCH - EXTREME]

[MANA DENSITY: CRITICAL (LOW)]

[PRIMORDIAL GLITCH: PROXIMITY - INCREASING].

"The mana density is dropping rapidly," Luna reported, her data-pad displaying critical readings. "Our mana shields are holding, but our System scanners are struggling. The primordial glitch is actively interfering with conventional System protocols."

"It's like a black hole for mana," Kai grunted, his axe now glowing faintly, its mana-infused core struggling against the oppressive mana drain. "I can barely feel my own power."

Han-sol focused his Error Detection, pushing past the overwhelming noise of the mana drain. He saw a massive, swirling vortex of ancient mana at the heart of the trench, a colossal error that pulsed with a primordial malevolence.

[PRIMORDIAL GLITCH: CORE - ACTIVE]

[POWER SOURCE: ANCIENT MANA (CORRUPTED)]

[EFFECT: REALITY DISTORTION (GLOBAL)].

"There it is," Han-sol gasped, his body trembling from the mana drain. "The source of the primordial glitch. It's a corrupted mana vortex, a fundamental error in the System's original code."

"And it's actively distorting reality," Luna added, her voice strained. "It's creating the unrendered zones, the data purges. It's trying to rewrite the very fabric of existence."

As they approached the core of the glitch, they encountered its guardians. These weren't Kaelen's chimeras or the World Tree's golems. These were Primordial Entities, beings born from the corrupted mana of the trench, their forms shifting and reforming, their eyes glowing with an ancient, malevolent intelligence.

[PRIMORDIAL ENTITY: STATUS - ACTIVE]

[ATTACK: REALITY DISTORTION (LOCALIZED)].

"They're extensions of the glitch," Han-sol realized. "They're trying to protect the core, to prevent anyone from debugging it."

Kai, despite his weakening mana, fought with a desperate ferocity, his axe shattering the Primordial Entities into shimmering pixels. Luna, using her dwindling mana, created temporary diversions, allowing Han-sol to bypass the most dangerous encounters. Han-sol, meanwhile, focused on finding the most efficient path, rewriting minor environmental glitches to create temporary safe zones, or to disable traps.

They reached the core of the primordial glitch, a massive, swirling vortex of corrupted mana that pulsed with an eerie, almost hypnotic rhythm. In its center, a faint, almost imperceptible blue shimmer, the signature of the primordial error.

[PRIMORDIAL GLITCH: CORE - ACTIVE]

[ERROR SIGNATURE: ANCIENT (FUNDAMENTAL)].

"This is it," Han-sol declared, his voice firm. "The source of the Static Shore. The primordial glitch. I need to rewrite it."

"But how?" Kai asked, his voice hoarse. "It's a fundamental error. Can you even rewrite something that old, that powerful?"

"I have to try," Han-sol replied, his gaze fixed on the swirling vortex. He focused his Error Detection, pushing past the overwhelming noise of the corrupted mana, trying to find the core error, the specific line of code that was unraveling reality. He felt a searing pain in his head, a familiar backlash from the complex rewrite, but he pushed through it, his determination unwavering.

[REWRITE PRIMORDIAL GLITCH: CORE - ACTIVE TO (STABILIZED)? Y/N]

He slammed 'Y'. A blinding flash of blue light erupted from the vortex, imperceptible to Kai and Luna. The corrupted mana swirled violently, then slowly began to stabilize, its malevolent glow fading, replaced by a calm, harmonious hum. The reality distortion receded, and the unrendered waters of the trench slowly began to solidify, their flickering outlines becoming solid once more.

[PRIMORDIAL GLITCH: STABILIZED]

[REALITY INTEGRITY: RESTORED].

"It's working!" Luna exclaimed, her data-pad displaying a rapid stabilization of the mana density. "The Static Shore is receding! The unrendered zones are returning to normal!"

Kai, his mana now flowing freely, let out a triumphant roar. "You did it, Han-sol! You debugged a primordial glitch!"

Han-sol, utterly spent, collapsed against the submersible's console, his body trembling uncontrollably. The pain in his head was excruciating, but the overwhelming exhaustion was a heavy blanket, threatening to pull him into unconsciousness. His System, however, displayed a triumphant notification:

[PRIMORDIAL GLITCH: DEBUGGED (CRITICAL ERROR NEUTRALIZED)].

The Static Shore was receding, the unrendered zones returning to normal. The primordial glitch, a threat that had been dormant for millennia, had been neutralized. But Han-sol knew this was just the beginning.
