Chapter 33 - Punishment and Rewards?
Two more attacks flew rapidly, impacting Yuan.
Kai lunged forward with all of his remaining power as he slid across the ground and touched Yuan at the same time, mentally screaming, 'Inspect this bastard!'

[Soul Defence - 0]

Kai stood above Yuan silently.
His eyes were wide and yet his was vision blurred.

Though Kai fell backwards.
Just before he hit the ground, someone grabbed his limp body.
It was Tian Qi.
The second years and teachers had finally arrived, but already too late.
Nova looked at the sorry state of both Kai and Yuan, quickly looking over them both as she felt they were riddled with internal damage.
And to her surprise, Yuan was dead...
Kai was on the brink of death, but she wasn't about to let that happen. Her mission forced it.
As she raised her hands over his body, she told Tian Qi to drop him.
Tian Qi stepped to the side, looking over at one of his classmates lying there... dead.
Tian Qi couldn't believe that a first year had actually killed a second year.
Sure, it wasn't allowed. The first year would surely get into a lot of trouble, but still...
Just how strong was Kai?
His bloodline wasn't really known, but its rank was Earth.
Kai had just become really valuable.
And because Tian Qi had one of the few search type abilities in the world, he was able to see that Yuan died from soul damage...
This made Kai terrifying in Tian Qi's eyes because soul attacks were the worst to block and deal with.
What if his bloodline dealt with soul attacks?
A terrifying thought appeared in everyone's minds.
The green hue around Kai glowed with power as runes etched themselves into Kai, also glowing while healing him nearly instantly.
Nova had used up quite a bit of her mana, so she was tired while Tian Qi grabbed Kai's limp body and headed somewhere underneath the entire academy...

Kai's eyes slowly opened.
He felt sore and hungry.
He found himself sleeping on some kind of metallic bed.
He looked around and realized he was inside a cell.
A cell made of pure metal with unknown runes etched into the walls.
Kai tried to activate Mana Manifestation to hover toward the runes, but nothing happened.
His mana flowed out of his body toward the runes and the system spoke.
[Those runes suppress mana in the area. Though weak, they are strong enough for someone of your caliber.]
[Would you like to see the rewards you missed?]
Kai sighed and mentally said, "I do."
[Rewards]
{Instant level up toward Level 11.}
{Gaining the ability to train your bloodline, allowing you to gain more skills and even enhance the ones you already have.}
Kai smiled ear to ear when he saw this new ability.
And just as he got ready to take a look at his stats, he heard three pairs of footsteps.
Standing in front of him were Tian Qi and Elder Huan.
Silently, Nova sneaked behind both of them.
Elder Huan didn't waste any time.
"For killing an inner disciple and second year, you are going to be in confinement for two months."
Kai instantly panicked and said, "Two months!? It was self defense! He attacked me! I didn't do anything!"
Elder Huan answered calmly.
"I know. That's why it's only two months. You could have stalled for time, but you clearly decided to fight back."
He paused before continuing.
"And another thing. You would have been thrown out of the academy for killing another student, but because it was his fault, you're not. Though he comes from a high class family."
Kai frowned.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
Elder Huan answered simply.
"Right now you are under the academy's protection, so you aren't really in danger. But out there? We can't protect you from Yuan's family. They're in the top twenty five. Their rank is twenty fifth, though still nothing to scoff at."
Elder Huan didn't wait for Kai's answer as he turned around and began walking away.
Tian Qi sighed and whispered,
"I tried to lower your confinement, but it didn't work. Sorry."
Kai was dazed as he answered,
"No... it's fine."
Tian Qi left as well.
Leaving only Nova and Kai behind.
Nova looked at him quietly before speaking.
"Are you... okay?"
Kai sighed.
"I'm fine."
Nova silently placed a plate of food on the ground as she left her steps echoing through the area he was imprisoned in.
