For the past week, I had tried countless times to get the king's attention, but every attempt had proven futile. Since the day we spent together at the lake, Enzo had become distant and withdrawn toward me, as though something between us had shifted overnight.
Most of my days in the palace had become painfully repetitive. I spent my mornings wandering through the palace gardens, pretending to admire the flowers while my thoughts endlessly drifted back to him. Other times, I visited the training grounds just to distract myself from the emptiness clawing at my chest. Sophia had slowly immersed herself into palace life and barely had time for me anymore. The only day she was truly free was once a week, and today we had decided to use that freedom to explore Lycoria City and escape the suffocating walls of the palace for a while.
Yet even with the excitement of leaving the palace, my mind still drifted back to the king.
