The ball continued as though nothing had happened, carrying on late into the night.
Arabella, Sophia, and Lily were on the dance floor, having the time of their lives, dancing and giggling together. The king's eyes had been on Arabella throughout the entire evening.
Enzo took the last drop of wine from his cup, placed it on the table, and stood.
"I'm retiring for the evening. Tell the head maid I want my quarters sealed for the week."
Lucien nearly choked.
"Are you sure you want to do what I think you want to do?" he asked, shocked and surprised.
Enzo said nothing, silently confirming his thoughts.
Septimus and the other lords who had overheard the king's words were equally shocked, but none of them dared to comment. Victor, on the other hand, could not stop fuming.
