"What if I am?" Aurora shot back. "The king told me everything. He said you went to him and told him about all the things we did together."
Her lip curled in disgust.
"I regret ever letting you touch me with your smelly half-hand."
Victor's eyes widened.
For a moment, genuine disbelief flashed across his face.
"Are you truly that foolish?" he asked.
Aurora frowned.
"What?"
Victor shook his head.
"You really cannot see through his tricks. The king knew nothing. He simply wanted you to confirm his suspicions, and you just handed him the truth yourself."
Aurora froze.
A small part of her suddenly wondered if he might be right.
