Victor made his way toward the market after sending his men ahead to scout the area and retrieve Arabella.
He expected to meet Adrian at the border as they had agreed, but before he could reach the marketplace, a familiar figure emerged from the smoke-filled street.
Adrian. And resting unconscious in his arms… was Arabella.
Victor stopped walking.
For a brief second, relief washed over him. They had succeeded. Arabella was finally within his reach again. But almost immediately, that relief was replaced by something darker.
Jealousy. Suspicion and Possessiveness.
His eyes remained fixed on the way Adrian carried her so effortlessly, almost as though she belonged there. Something inside him twisted painfully.
"I didn't know you would be here too," Victor finally said, forcing his voice to remain calm. "I thought we were supposed to grab Arabella and meet you at the border."
Adrian glanced at him before smiling lazily.
"Plans change."
His voice was smooth, almost amused.
