After a long decision Elara finally decided to go and see Vealor because she needed to know exactly what he was planning to do next. The witches had already caused enough problems, the people were becoming restless and now Vealor was talking about withdrawing his soldiers from the palace and the gates, which was the last thing she needed at a time when Adrian was still outside the citadel waiting for an opportunity to attack.
She left the throne room and headed straight towards Enzo's old bedchambers, thinking she would find Vealor there because that was where he had been staying since he started spending most of his time in the palace. She did not bother knocking when she reached the door and simply pushed it open, but the moment she entered she stopped.
The room was empty.
Elara looked around, her eyes moving from the bed to the table and then to the wardrobe. Most of Vealor's things were gone, and it was obvious that he had already moved out.
