Chapter 62 - The Bowl Came Back Empty. I'm Taking That as a Win

The bread was fine.

I'd checked it on the way through. It was exactly what bread is when it's been left alone the correct amount of time. Which, for once, meant I didn't have to do anything.

I put the cloth back over it and stood at the counter for a moment. The Walker sat on the stool to my left. The Entity took the one beside it. Both of them were facing the kitchen side like they'd been there long enough to settle in.

I looked at them.

Then I looked at the kitchen door.

"I've been working on something," I said. "If you're not in a hurry."

The Walker said, "What is its weight."

"Haven't established that yet," I said. "That's part of what I'm trying to find out."

I went into the kitchen.

The lower cellar had been rearranged twice since the city floated. The first time was simple. I needed space for new stock. Also, the dry goods shelf had been leaning at an angle ever since the city moved.
