Chapter 4 - The Wrong Person got Caught Up!

Reading those titles, Jamie felt a slight headache.

He swore he had never felt this way when reading articles related to those novels.

After some time, he selected four books.

The Lazy Cultivator's Guide to Enlightenment

My Magic Circles Are on Auto-Mode

The System Says I'm Overpowered!

Ancient God Reincarnates in the Modern World!

"For now, these four are enough," Jamie muttered as he sat on the bed and began reading 'My Magic Circles Are on Auto-Mode'.

He soon became so immersed in the book that he didn't notice the library, which should have disappeared by now, was still active.

Nor did he notice that an additional ethereal book had materialized within it.

The sensors installed in the room, equipped with the latest energy detection technology, failed to detect the energy radiating from that book.

As the prologue grew slightly interesting, Jamie began pacing back and forth while reading.

Unknowingly, he passed by the ethereal book three times.

Just then, Abraham aka Abracadabra arrived, dressed in luxurious clothes and ready to receive one final piece of dating advice from Jamie, thanks to whom he had secured today's date.

A date who was very beautiful.

But the moment Abracadabra saw Jamie, he froze on the spot.

His brain began processing the scene at the speed of yottabytes.

What he saw could only be described as the ultimate fantasy of an old reader.

A mysterious glowing book, one that did not exist had suddenly appeared inside his holographic library.

As for how he knew it was unknown?

Simple.

He had memorized the cover of every single book in his library.

And that meant only one thing.

His chance had arrived.

'Screw the date!' Abracadabra thought but then his pupils contracted.

The book had begun to emit a stronger ethereal glow.

At that same moment, Jamie finally noticed it as well as an unfamiliar light shining upon him.

What happened next could only be described as the greatest loss Abracadabra would ever experience in his life.

And it all unfolded in slow motion.

One second.

Abracadabra screamed as he lunged toward Jamie.

"Nooooo—!"

Jamie turned away from the glowing book and looked at Abracadabra, who was sprinting toward him while making frantic hand gestures.

Jamie calmly raised his middle finger.

Two seconds.

Jamie turned back toward the glowing book.

By now, Abracadabra had a shoe in his hand.

The book flared, releasing a brilliant light that engulfed Jamie. Abracadabra hurled the shoe straight at his face.

Ninety percent of the light swallowed Jamie.

The remaining ten percent washed over Abracadabra, who had finally reached him.

Three seconds.

Jamie collapsed to the ground.

His F.H.I. watch began flashing red, emitting sharp warning beeps to alert the authorities.

Abracadabra grabbed Jamie by the collar and began slapping his face repeatedly.

"NO! NO! Jamie, wake up!"

The entire room suddenly bathed in red emergency light as Paul, Hermann, and Ren Uesugi rushed in after hearing the commotion.

"What happened?!" Paul shouted, immediately joining in and slapping Jamie as well.

"NOOO—! It should have been meee!" Abracadabra wailed in despair, tears threatening to spill from his eyes.

Ren Uesugi quickly moved to examine Jamie, whose face had already turned red from the repeated slaps.

Paul and Hermann pulled Abracadabra back.

"Man, what happened?" Hermann asked.

Paul smacked Abracadabra on the back of the head to snap him out of it.

Before Abracadabra could answer, a loud voice thundered from outside their shared dormitory.

"C.O.M.B. OPEN THE DOOR!"

[Sacred Domain of Transitional Souls]

A radiant figure sat upon a throne.

Flowing robes traced with glowing runes draped around her.

Her hair floated as if underwater, and her eyes resembled swirling galaxies.

Yet beneath those eyes were visible eye bags, something that should not exist on a goddess.

She was Altheria, Goddess of Balance and Administrator of Earth's Reincarnation System.

A High-Tier Goddess, now.

Even before the planet's awakening, due to Earth's unique location and history, she had been placed in charge of the planet and a few neighboring galaxies that were isolated from the rest of the universe for certain reasons.

She sat there loftily, wondering why she had been chosen for this job by the Higher Order.

She had experienced her fair share of ups and downs in this role.

However, those minor ups and downs could not compare to the massive downfall she had suffered because of mortals.

As a result, the Perk System had been abolished, and now everyone received a default reincarnation package if they died due to system glitches.

Though she was kind at heart and occasionally gave these people a small random boost in luck.

And in the latest Divine Assembly, she had resolved to make a massive comeback!

Slapping her cheeks lightly, she opened a device similar to a smartphone and began searching for motivational videos of great gods and goddesses who once led entire pantheons.

She needed great motivation for her great comeback!

So immersed was she in those videos that, she failed to notice a small cube-shaped projection appearing within her domain.

The projection trembled slightly before transforming into a chibi figure dressed in emperor's robes.

Its face could not be seen, but it smirked faintly after glancing at Altheria once.

Then it scanned the entire [Sacred Domain of Transitional Souls] before locating what it wanted.

Hundreds of souls were being reincarnated every second.

The chibi figure waved its hand, and a soul from Earth, one whose trajectory of fate had already been twisted by a certain ethereal book appeared in its grasp.

'Hehehe,' the chibi figure laughed internally.

Darkness enveloped the soul, and in the next moment, both vanished leaving behind a lone goddess filled with great motivation.

Altheria remained seated upon her throne, completely unaware of what had just happened in her domain.

"As expected, this type of motivation hits differently!" she muttered, greatly pleased.
