"These zombies are kinda weak," Julian said after thinking it over.
"The ones in World War Z were way crazier. They ran as fast as dogs."
"They could even stack on top of each other and climb over walls."
But if the zombies outside were really that terrifying, humanity's chances of survival would be even slimmer.
"Hey, Master, look! Zombie dogs!" Hana pointed at the screen.
Right at that moment, the Leon character Julian was controlling got bitten to death by a zombie dog.
"Well, if people can turn into zombies, dogs turning into zombie dogs makes sense too," Julian explained.
Little Goldie shuddered from head to tail.
It definitely didn't want to end up looking like that.
"Don't be scared, Little Goldie. You drank the master's—"
"You drank the master's blood, so you should be like us. You'll keep your sanity and your appearance."
Hana almost let something slip while trying to comfort the dog.
"Speaking of which, Little Goldie has grown a lot in just a few days…" Julian said thoughtfully."Let's test your strength."
"Hana, go bring a refrigerator."
Refrigerators had basically become their standard tool for strength testing.
Soon enough, Hana dragged one over.
"Little Goldie, go on. Scratch the fridge with all your strength," Julian ordered.
Little Goldie looked reluctant.
It was a peace-loving golden retriever, after all. Fighting really wasn't its thing.
"Hana, if Little Goldie doesn't listen, just throw it outside," Julian said casually."Let it experience how cruel survival really is."
Little Goldie froze.
To hell with being peace-loving.
It rushed forward and swiped its paw across the refrigerator.
A deep claw mark appeared on the metal door.
Sure enough.
Little Goldie's strength had increased too.
Right now, its combat ability was roughly on par with Mafuyu's from two days ago.
And judging from how clever it seemed lately, its intelligence had improved as well.
Which meant leaving Little Goldie alone to guard the warehouse was totally possible.
That would make the move over the next few days much more efficient.
Julian and Mafuyu would handle driving the supplies over, while Hana would organize and sort everything once it arrived.
Perfect.
Tonight would probably be Julian's last night staying in the warehouse… assuming everything got moved tomorrow.
Before bed, Julian and his little followers tried lying on the bedframe made of stacked gold bars.
Too hard.
Uncomfortably hard.
As for boosting their strength…
At most, he felt a faint response for a split second.
Then it disappeared.
It wasn't even close to the improvement he got from being bitten by Mafuyu and the others.
Maybe he hadn't reached his limit yet?
Yeah, that made sense. It was hard to trigger a breakthrough without a life-or-death situation.
Still…
Compared to others, the way he increased his strength was ridiculously efficient.
Gold didn't do much for him.
But for other people, that was a different story.
If news about this ever spread, the value of gold would skyrocket.
At that point it wouldn't be 100 grams of gold for one pound of food anymore.
It would be one gram of gold for a pound of food.
Good thing he had stockpiled so much gold.
In the future, he could trade gold for supplies or hire people to do the dirty work for him. No need to run around personally.
He could just stay on the island with his little followers, grow vegetables, raise fish, play games…
Honestly, that sounded like a pretty great life.
The night passed quickly.
At dawn, Julian got up.
Today's move was going to be a massive operation.
Fortunately, diligent Hana had already sorted everything and labeled it the night before.
All the supplies combined would take about twenty truckloads to move.
The three of them quickly got to work loading the vehicles.
"Little Goldie, you're guarding the place today," Julian said.
"If anyone tries to come in, no matter who it is, smack them dead."
"Got it?"
"Woof… woof…" Little Goldie nodded.
All it ever wanted was to be a kind dog. Now it had to shoulder such heavy responsibility.
Well… the food here was pretty good. Otherwise, it wouldn't have agreed.
"Let's go!"
Julian climbed into the driver's seat and started the engine.
Hana was about to take the passenger seat beside him, but Mafuyu grabbed her.
"Let the master focus on driving!"
"You're riding with me."
She pulled Hana toward the second vehicle.
Hana instantly entered full embarrassment mode, blushing and lowering her head.
Her little plan had been discovered.
"Don't think I didn't notice," Mafuyu teased."The master secretly gave you extra meals!"
"Hmph…"
She pinched Hana's cheek.
She wasn't really angry. Just teasing her.
After all, Hana was weaker than her. Getting extra "meals" would help improve her strength and make her more useful to Julian.
Hana's face turned even redder.
At exactly 7:00 a.m., the two vehicles set off from the warehouse.
It was going to be a busy day.
Around noon, everything in the warehouse—except the refrigerated and frozen goods—had finally been moved.
Hana had also neatly arranged all the supplies in their proper places.
After briefly resting and regaining some energy at the seaside villa, Julian grabbed some cucumbers and eggs and drove toward the Donghu Villa District.
Before transporting the frozen meat, the power system needed to be set up first.
A truck full of frozen meat could last one to two hours before thawing. As long as the cold storage started running in time, the meat's quality wouldn't be affected.
Julian had already installed all the solar panels.
Now he just needed an electrician to connect them to the island's power grid.
He parked the car at the entrance of the villa district.
"Bro! You're here!" the young security guard Shiro greeted him immediately.
Julian had shown his strength before and had always been generous, so Shiro admired him a lot.
"There are a few graphics cards here. Help me deliver them to Asuka in Villa No. 2."
"And another thing…"
"Do you have anyone here who's good with electrical work? I need someone to connect some wiring."
"Someone reliable."
Julian deliberately emphasized the last part.
"Bro, I can do it!" Shiro said, puffing out his chest.
"There are three electricians in our neighborhood. I'm one of them!"
"I handle a big chunk of the community's electrical maintenance myself!"
Working for Julian was a great gig.
Food was practically guaranteed.
"Alright then. You're hired," Julian nodded.
"Go deliver the graphics cards first. I'll wait at the gate."
Although Julian didn't fully trust anyone, it was still better to work with someone familiar. Compared to the other guards, Shiro seemed relatively reliable.
Soon Shiro came back.
Julian drove him over to Donghu Island.
"Whoa!"
"Bro, isn't this the Donghu Island Resort?!"
"I know this place!"
"I can't believe you took it over!"
Since the resort sat right across from the villa district, Shiro naturally recognized it.
The only reason nobody had come here before was that the resort hadn't opened yet—there was no food or supplies inside.
But if you ignored the resource issue…
This place was definitely a fortress that was easy to defend and hard to attack.
