Chapter 1 - Good Morning

"You will surely dream again.

The world you painted for yourself yesterday, only to see its tomorrow become insignificant, is nothing but a dream.

Under all those layers to dwell upon, for there lies no tomorrow."

I'm lying on my bed, staring at the ceiling aimlessly. I didn't sleep yesterday, so waking up with energy like I always do, is out of the question for today.

There is a school I want to be present at in two hours, so I don't need to rush. It probably matters, but our classroom teacher has been missing for almost a week.

Even if me and other students arrive to our classroom an hour later—or much later—, there isn't anyone to mark us absent. Some kids prefer to stay at their home and play games all day for this reason.

I'd prefer to stay at home, too. I would watch TV all day, right? As if. There isn't a single TV in this mansion. I opened each and every single door, but all I could find in each room was the exact same furniture and a bathroom.

In other words, I can't do anything here but get bored out of my skull. Since there is no one to mark us absent or teach us at least one thing, my only reason for going to school willingly is to have fun with my classmates.

I stand up. Some old and some new toys are scattered across the floor. Toy soldiers, toy cars and puppets— They obviously don't belong to me, as I'm too old to still be playing with them.

I kick them aside and drag myself to bathroom then splash cold water on my face.

I didn't bother changing into my pajamas yesterday, so when I was lying on the bed, I still had my school uniform on. The summer breeze reminds me of how peaceful and stupid the days are here. So, the weather doesn't really bother me.

I step into hallway and head down the stairs. I can already hear my father's annoying voice coming from dining room. I don't know why, but they refuse to sleep before me. Basically, they are sleep deprived today just like I am.

I enter the dining room. My mother is standing near the window, quietly sipping liters of coffee from her comically-big-cup. My father is... on the floor. Playing with his toys and giggling like a child. He lifts his head up from his toys and notices me.

He wears a big, stupid grin on his face and crawls at me like a baby. However, he is too big, old and fast for that, so I'd rather to call him possessed instead of man-baby.

He jumps to twice my height and lands on his feet with a thud. He drops his toys on my feet, —which actually hurt— and ruffles my hair and then shouts "Morning!" at the top of his lungs. Luckily, I had a feeling this was going to happen so I already had my ears covered.

"Morning, my daughter!"

He repeats, quieter and calmer this time.

"Did you sleep well?!"

I shake my head.

"Nope. What about you?"

He imitates me.

"Nope."

Figures.

I hear my mother's deep voice.

"Morning, Eluned."

Compared to this man-baby in front of me, my mother is at least a bit normal than he is.

They are complete opposite of each other in personality.

My mother is... like a statue. She's quiet, she's motionless and she's probably emotionless as well. Her whole personality is "coffee, coffee, coffee!" , yet I see no signs of caffeine.

"Is that your breakfast, mom?"

She nods. I nod back.

Our first and last conversation of today ends here.

I look on the comically-long-table to find something edible. My father has a mountain of gummy bears and worms on his plate, and a box of apple juice. It seems he dropped the straw inside the box from the hole. So, no apple juice for him. No, I will not help him either.

I head to kitchen and open the fridge. I found few slices of bread and milk. I can't drink milk in this house, not because I don't want to. My father likes to drink it straight from the box, which I think is disgusting. So, I'll drink water. Tap water.

I ate the bread slices. They were dry and not that great, but it's better than starving to death until lunch break at school. Besides, today I'll have a lot of fun. No teacher present means no room for drowsiness. Some of my classmates are bringing card and board games, which is perfect to kill time.

I drink water to help me swallow easier. Then, I just leave from the front door. That's it. Who cares about good-byes, anyway? I doubt they will even notice my absence.

They can do whatever they want. My father will probably paint the walls, and I will have to clean them because other than me, no one in this house is sane enough to clean them.

My mom will continue drinking liters of coffee for god-knows-why, and I will have to stay away from these two for several hours. I don't care what they do, I don't know what they do , but I don't want to know. They should disappear.

I leave the mansion and close the door behind me. Papa is watching me from the inside while drawing scribbles on the window with his breath. I wanna do that too! Mama is quietly and cutely sipping coffee from her big cup next to Papa. They are both waving me good-byes while smiling.

They are good parents, aren't they? They are having fun despite their age, and they are taking good care of me!

What would a daughter ever need other than her parents' love!?

I take a deep breath—— ffffuuuuuu...

Well then...

"GOOOOOD MOOORNING, EVERYOOOONEEEE!!!☆"
