Chapter 10 - An Extra Toothbrush

In the morning, my sleep was disturbed by the doorbell. Someone was ringing it non-stop. I noticed that Yuki still hadn't woken up. I went to open the door. When I opened it, I saw that it was Sakura.

"Hi, morning Sakura," I said.

She didn't answer me. She pushed past me and rushed towards my room.

"What happened to you? Why are you rushing like this?" I asked.

I also ran after her to see what the problem was.

She entered my room and started waking Yuki up.

When Yuki opened her eyes, she was stunned to see Sakura there so early in the morning, as it was only 5:00 AM.

"Morning, Yuki," Sakura said.

"Huh... morning. But what are you doing here this early?" Yuki asked.

"Are you okay?" Sakura asked in return.

"Yes, I'm fine. But what happened to you? You are acting weird," Yuki replied.

"I... I was w-worried about you," Sakura stammered. "Did you sleep well?"

"Yes, I slept well," Yuki replied. "There is no need to worry."

Sakura sighed, "Well, okay."

"What were you worrying about?" I asked.

"N-Nothing. I want to talk to you later," Sakura said, avoiding the question.

"What is it? Is it something important?" I inquired.

"Something like that. See you later," Sakura replied.

Then she ran out with a sigh of relief. I wondered what was going on in her mind at that time.

Later, I went to brush my teeth, but I encountered a problem. There was only one toothbrush there, which was mine. I started thinking about what to do. Then, I remembered that I had an extra toothbrush in my cupboard.

I went to grab that extra toothbrush from my cupboard. When I returned to the bathroom, I saw Yuki about to brush with my brush.

"Yuki, wait!" I exclaimed.

She stopped her hand just before the brush went into her mouth.

"What happened?" Yuki asked.

"That was my brush," I pointed out.

"So what?" Yuki replied, completely unbothered.

"You don't have to use my used brush. Here, take this one," I said, handing her the spare.

"Is this for me? Thank you," Yuki said.

Then, we brushed our teeth. Afterward, I went to take a shower, and she went to prepare food.

While I was taking a shower, I felt a sense of relief, but there was also a lingering tension in my mind. Why was Sakura acting so weird today, and what did she want to talk to me about?

When I came out of the shower and entered the hall, I smelled a delicious aroma coming from the kitchen. I went to check and saw that it was Yuki preparing chicken soup. I got dressed in my school uniform, and then Yuki served me the food, but Yuki was not eating. She was just standing aside.

"Why aren't you eating?" I asked.

"The food I cooked is not enough for two people. The ingredients were not enough," Yuki explained.

"Then why don't we split the food half and half?" I suggested.

"No, no, Master! I won't do that," Yuki protested. "If you eat on a half-empty stomach, you won't be able to focus on your studies."

"Don't be ridiculous," I scolded lightly. "Just split the food so we can eat together. And one more thing—stop calling me Master. Just call me Estival."

"From now on, I will call you Estival," Yuki agreed. "If you are okay with it, I will eat."

When I took the first spoonful of the soup, I couldn't stop myself from speaking. "Yuki, this soup is wonderful," I complimented.

"Thank you so much, Estival," Yuki replied.

After I finished eating my breakfast, I left for school. There, I saw Sakura standing in front of my door.

"What are you doing here?" I asked in a stunned voice.

Sakura stared at me from head to toe.

"What happened?" I asked.

"N-Nothing," Sakura stammered. "I was just waiting for you. Let's walk to school together."

"Yes, let's go," I replied happily.

We left for school together.

"Ah... Sakura," I began, "early this morning you said you wanted to talk to me. What was that about?"

"Yes, I do want to talk to you," Sakura replied in a serious tone. "Meet me at the school gate after school."

"What is this about? At least tell me that," I asked out of curiosity.

"Not now. I will tell you after school," Sakura said.

When we entered the school together, the other students stared at us and started mumbling.

"Why is Sakura walking to school with this boy?" they whispered, along with other similar gossip.

I ignored their mumbling, and we both left for our respective classes.

"Bye-bye, see you after school," Sakura said.

"See ya," I replied.

When I entered the class, Todo came up to me and put his hand on my shoulder.

"Did anything happen last night?" Todo asked out of curiosity.

"N-No... nothing happened," I stammered.

"Just kidding, I'm just teasing you," Todo laughed.

Then I went and sat at my seat.

When the teachers came into my class, the same thing happened—I wasn't able to focus on my studies. I was just wondering what she wanted to talk to me about. Then lunchtime arrived, and once again today, Sakura appeared in my class. At that time, I didn't notice her come into my class until she suddenly hugged me from behind. I got scared, and then I saw her.

"Why are you here in my class again?" I asked.

"I wanted to eat lunch together. Is that wrong?" Sakura asked.

"It's fine that you want to eat lunch together, but you have to stop cuddling me. The whole class is getting the wrong idea," I explained.

"You..." Sakura started to say.

"Stop, let's talk about this in the cafeteria," I interrupted.

The whole class was staring at me. I felt incredibly awkward.

Then, we went to the cafeteria and sat at a table. We opened our lunch and started eating.

"Please stop cuddling me in school," I requested.

"You didn't have a problem with this when we were kids," Sakura pointed out.

"If I were being honest, I wouldn't have a problem, but when we were kids, people didn't pay attention to us. But now we are grown up, and others might get the wrong idea about us," I explained.

"I don't care about what others think," Sakura replied.

"But you have to care," I insisted.

"So now you don't consider me your best friend, do you?" Sakura asked.

"I didn't mean it like that. You are always my best friend," I reassured her.

"Then it's settled. You won't stop me," Sakura declared.

"Okay, you win," I

sighed, giving in.

Then, lunchtime ended, and we went back to our classes.

"See you later, after school," Sakura said.

"See you," I replied.
