Chapter 143 - Chapter 143: Sorry, Obito

And since Furina had no intention of listening, Obito could only let out a light sigh. He then quickly began forming hand seals. If Mōryō survived the first attack but ended up dying from the follow-up finishing blows, that would truly be drawing water with a bamboo basket—wasted effort.

"Fire Release: Great Firestorm Dance"

Although he rarely used ninjutsu in normal circumstances, with his inherently powerful foundation, no ninjutsu was weak in Obito's hands. This was especially true for Great Firestorm Dance, a technique that synergized perfectly with his Mangekyō Sharingan.

With the assistance of Kamui, a massive fire serpent coiled around and rapidly advanced toward the three seafood. The scorching heat emanating from the flame vortex made it impossible for Furina not to notice.

However, Obito was not concerned about this issue. He did not believe using some covert ninjutsu could fool Furina's perception anyway. Since that was the case, rather than sneaking around only to be discovered, it was better to start with the most attention-grabbing method from the beginning.

"I've been waiting for you for ages. You finally decided to show up."

Furina knew the water ball in the sky alone could not block a full-power ninjutsu from Obito, so she immediately pulled away from the corpse-whipping to personally block this Fire Release attack.

But just as water-natured chakra began to gather, Obito's attack arrived once more. This time, though, the target was not the three seafood but Furina herself.

"Wood Release: Piercing Technique"

Although released later, it arrived first compared to the flame vortex. Furina, distracted by Great Firestorm Dance, only noticed this hidden lethal strike after hearing the sound of breaking air from the wooden spears. By then, the wooden spears were already incredibly close to her.

"Tch."

The reputation of Wood Release was renowned far and wide. Furina had no desire to personally test its power, so she quickly turned to dodge. This played right into Obito's hands—he had not expected this long-range sneak attack to injure her anyway.

His goal was merely to prevent Furina from defending in time.

Although Furina managed to block at the last moment, a hasty defense could not fully neutralize the ferocious flame vortex. Large amounts of steam rose, the three seafood staggered from the blow, and most importantly, the continuous "corpse-whipping" of Mōryō finally stopped.

During this interval, another figure charged toward Obito, whose position had now been exposed. Firelight flashed soon after, clearly indicating a clash had erupted.

"Looks like he ran away again."

After rushing over, Furina only saw Uchiha Hikari looking around in a patch of scorched earth and Shion running over from the other side. There was no sign of Obito at all.

"That's right. His ability is just too troublesome. When he's fully focused on avoiding combat, even with the weakness in his ninjutsu that you told me about earlier, there's nothing we can do to catch him."

"No big deal. That guy's been fooling around in the ninja world for so many years precisely because of that ability. If he were so easy to catch, he'd probably have died on some roadside long ago."

"From what I just saw, even without that ability to ignore attacks, he's definitely not as simple as you made him sound, Furina. At the very least, he's stronger than some roadside corpse."

Looking at the nonchalant Furina, Uchiha Hikari seriously spoke up in defense of Obito. Seeing Hikari's earnest expression, the look on Furina's face became quite entertaining.

Through their long period of interaction, both Hikari and Shion had picked up some new vocabulary from Furina. Although they understood the specific meanings, they still used them somewhat awkwardly at times.

As the saying goes, an enemy's insult can be taken as praise. So this could also be seen as Furina complimenting Obito—but Hikari thought she was mocking him. Was this not pure misunderstanding!

At least that was how Furina saw it ( ´▽` )

Sorry, Obito. This is the last time.
