Chapter 97 - Chapter 97: Inside and Outside Coordination

"First, send people to check the other city gates for any possibility of breaking through. If not, we'll just wait for Ranoa Kingdom's reinforcements." The Duke of Basheran could only resort to this suboptimal plan—after all, an entire city's residents were inside, and his own younger brother was in the enemy's hands.

His subordinate quickly took a group of men and hurried toward the other side of Rosenberg.

This was exactly what Darius's confidant wanted to see—he was buying precious time for the carriages transporting the magic tools.

Little did they know, their plan had already failed. The Man-God could not foresee Dan Feng, this variable at all.

At this moment, Dan Feng and Roxy had already rescued all the civilians in the residential district and instructed them not to go out wandering right now—the outside was still not very safe.

Afterward, Dan Feng brought Roxy back to the place where the magic tools were stored.

Upon seeing Dan Feng and Roxy return, Steven quickly said: "The magic tools entrusted by the principal of Ranoa Magic University are all intact."

"That's good. It's still not safe outside, so stay here for now." Dan Feng said calmly to Steven.

"Then where are you two going?" Steven asked in confusion. Logically, now that Dan Feng and Roxy had dealt with the mercenaries in the residential district, they should wait for rescue. Going out again would only invite unnecessary trouble.

Although Dan Feng and Roxy were quite strong, he still felt it was better to avoid extra complications.

"We're planning to check the situation at each city gate first. No need to look at the east side, since the inn district is there, and we've already dealt with all the mercenaries in the residential district on this side. Now we'll check the north and west." Dan Feng explained his plan.

He figured that if there were still mercenaries at the north and west gates, he and Roxy would take care of them along the way.

Mainly because their impression of these mercenaries was extremely poor—they were shameless enough to directly take civilians hostage. It was utterly despicable and low.

"I never expected Mr. Dan Feng and Ms. Roxy to be such justice-driven students. Truly worthy of being from Ranoa Magic University, with such excellent upbringing!" Steven looked at the two with admiration, then solemnly promised that before they returned, he would organize all of the principal's magic tools for easy transport.

Afterward, Dan Feng once again took Roxy and headed toward the western gate.

...

Upon learning that Basheran Duchy's second city, Rosenberg, had been occupied, the King of Ranoa was furious. This was blatant provocation—they clearly didn't take the world's fourth-ranked magic superpower seriously.

"Pass down the order: Assemble the magic corps and head to Rosenberg immediately!" The King of Ranoa shouted in anger.

Afterward, Ranoa Kingdom dispatched its entire magic corps to Basheran Duchy's second city, Rosenberg.

The magic corps of Ranoa Kingdom consisted entirely of elites from the magic world, each with at least upper-rank strength. Their sheer numbers made them impossible to underestimate.

After learning of the incident, the principal of Ranoa Magic University found it unbelievable.

"A few thousand mercenaries daring to attack Rosenberg—what exactly is their goal? Could it be for our latest batch of magic tools?" The principal murmured to himself. However, he had no intention of going there. He knew Dan Feng's strength very well—there was no need to worry at all.

After all, what normal student could defeat a Sword Saint with just a single spear? Moreover, he could fly and use chantless magic techniques that even surprised him.

This could no longer be described as mere genius—it was simply inhuman.

So he didn't need to worry about whether Dan Feng and Roxy would encounter danger. Instead, he needed to consider what extra reward to give them when the two returned.

...

"Dan Feng, look—is there someone up there?" Roxy pointed at the two figures standing atop the distant city gate.

Dan Feng focused his gaze upon hearing this, then calmly nodded: "Indeed, there are two people."

Not long after, Dan Feng led Roxy and smoothly arrived near the western gate.

The area around the western gate belonged to the workshop district, originally a place dedicated to researching magic-related issues.

However, although magic held immense theoretical power, when facing these mercenaries comparable to adventurers in practice, it often proved somewhat inadequate.

At this moment, the magicians who should have been focused on magic research were all tied up and thrown aside, while the mercenaries strolled leisurely nearby as if wandering in their own backyard.

The person atop the western gate seemed to be engaged in a heated exchange with someone outside the city. He kept shouting loudly outward, as if trading insults.

"These mercenaries again!" Roxy said indignantly, her brows tightly furrowed—she clearly felt deep disgust toward these mercenaries.

She raised her staff high without hesitation and launched an attack at the group of mercenaries.

In an instant, countless ice spears silently condensed at the tip of her staff.

Then, these ice spears shot forward like lightning at astonishing speed toward the mercenaries below the western gate.

They streaked through the air with chilling glints, carrying a sharp momentum straight toward the unprepared mercenaries.

The ice spears acted like bullets, instantly piercing through some of the mercenaries. Others pierced the tightly shut western gate, blasting a large hole in the decayed wooden door.

This situation immediately drew the attention of both the Duke of Basheran and Darius's confidant.

Upon hearing the noise, Darius's confidant quickly turned to look downward and saw two people below massacring the mercenaries he had gathered.

The count being held hostage saw the opportunity. His left hand suddenly gathered strength, then he struck with all his might at Darius's confidant's groin. This temporarily incapacitated Darius's confidant, allowing the count to break free.

After all, Darius's confidant wasn't some formidable swordsman—his gathered fighting spirit was pitifully little and insufficient to withstand this "fatal" blow.

Once free, the count immediately ran.

Seeing this, the Duke of Basheran shouted to the soldiers behind him: "Follow me—storm the city!"

Basheran Duchy's knight corps and magic corps launched a massive assault on Rosenberg. The city gate, unable to withstand the pressure, was quickly breached.

At this point, Darius's confidant had slightly recovered. He immediately tried to flee.

He flipped down from the city gate and prepared to escape quickly. After buying so much time, the magic tools should already have been transported out.

Just as Darius's confidant was about to land, a long spear gleaming with cold light flew straight toward him, pinning him hard against the city wall.

This spear did not take his life—it pierced through his clothing.

The one who threw it was none other than Dan Feng. Only now did Dan Feng realize that whenever he threw Cloud-Piercer, it had never once missed.

The knight corps that had broken through the gate stared at the ground full of corpses in brief stunned silence, then turned their gazes toward Dan Feng and Roxy.

The Duke of Basheran, seeing the situation, initially thought his arranged troops had successfully infiltrated—only to look and realize it was just two young people dressed like adventurers.
