Chapter 164 - Chapter 164: A Strange Illness

Dan Feng carried Roxy and flew all the way back to the Millis Continent. They landed about an hour's walk from Millishion and continued on foot.

When they returned to Millishion again, they did not pause at all but headed straight for the tavern.

When they had left for the Demon Continent, they had entrusted their house—which was undergoing renovation—to the landlady and her group to keep an eye on the progress. So now they could simply come directly to the tavern.

It was already afternoon, but surprisingly, the tavern's signboard read "Closed" today. This was completely out of character for the landlady, who loved running the business and almost never took a day off all year.

Dan Feng felt puzzled—this was truly unusual.

Just as Dan Feng and Roxy pushed open the tavern door together, a slightly plump figure came into view. The landlady sat alone at a table, her face full of worry, seemingly weighed down by heavy anxiety.

"Landlady, we're back!" Roxy's clear voice echoed through the tavern, instantly drawing the landlady's attention.

She jerked her head up. When her gaze fell on Dan Feng and Roxy, she stood up as if a great weight had been lifted and hurried over.

"Dan Feng, Roxy! You're finally back!" The landlady's voice carried a trace of urgency. Her face was pale, and her brows were tightly furrowed.

Seeing this, Dan Feng's doubts deepened. He asked with concern, "Landlady, what exactly happened? Why do you look so worried?"

"Mayibeia is in trouble!"

...

The landlady was frantic with worry. Without another word, she rushed upstairs like a gust of wind, leading Dan Feng and Roxy.

As Dan Feng followed her at a run, he carefully sensed the surrounding mana fluctuations.

He noticed that the mana here was unusually chaotic, as if it had been corroded and lost its original stability.

Finally, they reached the door to Mayibeia's room.

The landlady hurriedly took out her key and opened the door.

The moment the door opened, a stifling aura hit them, causing Dan Feng to frown involuntarily.

Stepping inside, Dan Feng's gaze was immediately drawn to Mayibeia lying on the bed.

Her eyes were tightly shut, her face pale as paper, her originally rosy lips drained of color. She looked utterly lifeless.

As Dan Feng and Roxy slowly approached Mayibeia, she still showed no reaction whatsoever.

Dan Feng gazed at Mayibeia's haggard face, his doubts growing heavier.

To figure out exactly what was wrong with Mayibeia, Dan Feng decided to examine her himself.

He slowly extended his right hand and carefully placed it on Mayibeia's forehead.

In an instant, a scorching heat came from her forehead. Dan Feng's brows furrowed tightly—this temperature was definitely abnormal.

If he wasn't mistaken, Mayibeia's current symptoms were those of a common fever from his previous life.

In this world, illness was rare but not nonexistent.

For common ailments like fevers, people in this world still had ways to cure them—simply using detoxification magic would suffice.

"Has Galdaruf tried detoxification magic?" Dan Feng asked calmly, turning to the anxious landlady beside him.

The landlady quickly nodded. "When Mayibeia first felt unwell, Galdaruf used it right away. It didn't work."

"Where is Galdaruf then?" Dan Feng asked while glancing around Mayibeia's room.

However, he did not see Galdaruf anywhere in the room.

The landlady sighed and replied, "He went to ask a priest to treat Mayibeia. But how could a priest possibly treat a demon race member? So Galdaruf hasn't come back yet."

For the past few days, because of Mayibeia's condition, the landlady had not opened the tavern at all.

She had poured all her energy into taking care of Mayibeia, hoping she would recover soon.

At that moment, Roxy suddenly seemed to notice something important. She pointed at Mayibeia's foot and said, "Dan Feng, look here."

Dan Feng followed Roxy's finger.

Mayibeia's toenails had turned into irregular purple crystals, translucent and shimmering with purple light.

"What is this?" Dan Feng looked at the purple crystals in confusion. He and Roxy knew almost nothing about illnesses.

Roxy also shook her head. "I don't know either, but I have this strange feeling about it." She couldn't quite explain what the strange feeling was—just that the appearance of these purple crystals on the toenails seemed suspicious.

"Never mind. I'll try treating her directly." Dan Feng did not want to figure out what the illness was anymore. Since he now had the ability to heal, he might as well treat her directly.

A white lotus bloomed in Dan Feng's hand. It grew larger and larger until it enveloped Mayibeia's entire body.

The white lotus wrapped around Mayibeia and began releasing gentle energy—this was the healing technique the system had given Dan Feng earlier.

During this time, Dan Feng did not idle. Instead, he used his imaginary energy to probe inside Mayibeia's body.

What he found was shocking.

When Dan Feng extended his consciousness deep into Mayibeia's body through his imaginary energy, he was immediately stunned by the sight.

In Mayibeia's abdomen was a massive purple crystal.

Dan Feng naturally knew what this meant—it was precisely where the fetus was located.

However, at this moment, the vitality of this fetus was extremely weak. If effective treatment measures were not taken soon, this unborn little life would likely perish in Mayibeia's womb and become a stillborn.

This child was the fruit of Mayibeia and Galdaruf's love—Dan Feng did not want to see the fetus die.

Time was of the essence. Without hesitation, Dan Feng mobilized his healing power, letting the mighty force flow gently like a trickle into Mayibeia's abdomen.

At the same time, he focused intently on the fetus's condition, not daring to relax for even a moment.

While Dan Feng was urgently trying to save the fetus, thanks to the white lotus, the purple crystals on Mayibeia's feet began to gradually dissipate, as if purified by the lotus's power.

As time passed, the purple crystals grew smaller and smaller until they finally vanished completely.

The landlady stood to the side, witnessing everything, her anxiety surging like tidal waves.

Watching Mayibeia in such agony, her heart ached.

After all, they had lived together for nearly ten years. Mayibeia had long become like her own daughter.

Seeing Mayibeia suffer like this now, how could the landlady not feel heartbroken?

This child might be reckless, but she was enthusiastic and lively. Even in places that discriminated against the demon race, she managed to live quite comfortably.

Seeing her in this state now truly made the heart uncomfortable.

Meanwhile, Roxy stayed by Dan Feng's side, continuously casting water magic in an attempt to bring down Mayibeia's fever.
