"Hehe, my dear sister is as kind as ever. Even when facing death, you don't want to drag anyone else down with you."

Seeing Zhu Zhuqing change her direction, a strange flicker appeared in Zhu Zhuyun's dark, bright eyes, though her words remained sharp and merciless.

"Eldest Miss, there's someone here!"

One of the guards spotted Fu Ye sitting by the campfire. Zhu Zhuyun's gaze shifted to him, and for a fleeting second, a hint of surprise at his handsome features crossed her face.

"Ignore him. Keep chasing Zhu Zhuqing!"

Zhu Zhuyun didn't linger. Fu Ye, watching them run past, felt a bit slighted. Seriously? You guys are looking down on me a bit too much, aren't you?

(○` 3′○)

Many had looked down on him before, but being ignored like a background NPC was a first.

[Name: Zhu Zhuyun]Age: 18 | Rank: Level 38 | Spirit: Hell Civet Status: Eldest Miss of the Hell Duke's Mansion, Star Luo Empire; Fiancée of the First Prince, Dai Davis.

As the chase headed toward another part of the forest, Fu Ye sighed. Wait, that direction leads toward Nuoding City!

Deep in the woods, Zhu Zhuqing's breathing was ragged. She knew her only hope was reaching a populated area, but she was at the end of her rope. Her spirit power was nearly depleted, and her body was screaming for rest. Finally, a stray vine tripped her, and she fell heavily to the ground. Three figures closed in instantly.

"My dear little sister, stop this futile struggle. Accept your fate and come back with me. Perhaps I can still preserve your life," Zhu Zhuyun said, her voice dripping with disdain as she stood over her fallen sister in the moonlight.

"Go back? You think I don't know what you're planning! Stop this hypocrisy and just give me a quick death!" Zhu Zhuqing looked at the three people surrounding her. She knew there was no escape. Being taken back or dying here—the result was the same. She was tired of living in constant fear.

"Hypocrisy? Hahaha! My dear sister, you still understand nothing." Zhu Zhuyun looked down at her, but no one noticed the hidden trace of reluctance deep in her eyes.

Suddenly, a familiar figure appeared before them. "Hello again. We meet once more."

Fu Ye looked at the spirit-possessed Zhu Zhuyun and the two guards armed with a machete and a hammer. He could sense that Zhu Zhuyun didn't truly want to kill her sister; she had been giving her chances to run all along.

"You?" Zhu Zhuyun recognized the man from the campfire. To her, he looked harmless—aside from his good looks, she couldn't sense a single drop of spirit power from him.

"Kid, the Eldest Miss was merciful enough to let you go before. Don't be ungrateful!" one guard barked. "I'll give you three seconds. Leave, or die!" The guards were irritable after chasing their target all the way from Star Luo to Heaven Dou.

"Oh? You're certain that with such puny strength, you can kill me?" Fu Ye smirked, finding their murderous intent almost comical. Ignoring them, he walked gracefully to the fallen Zhu Zhuqing.

"Little girl, we seem to share a certain fate. How about considering coming with me?" Fu Ye's voice was magnetic. He knew that with a stubborn girl like Zhu Zhuqing, force wasn't the way.

Zhu Zhuqing's gaze wavered, caught in a deep internal conflict. "Who are you? Why would you help me?"

Who am I? Well, I'm an old per—ahem!

"Why help you? I just can't stand to see a pure and kind girl perish. As for who I am... if you choose to follow me, you'll find out in due time." Fu Ye didn't like forcing girls—A Wu being the sole exception.

"No! she can't go with you!" Zhu Zhuyun finally snapped. She wanted to keep her sister under house arrest to protect her life; letting her walk off with a strange man was a risk she couldn't take!

"Little girl, have you decided? I respect your choice."

In the midnight forest, a nine-colored jade casket appeared at Fu Ye's side. An ice-blue sword erupted from it, landing firmly in his palm. Holding the Water Cold sword, Fu Ye looked like a god of death in the darkness. A terrifying aura leaked from his body, making the three pursuers' hair stand on end.

"I... I'm willing to go with you." Zhu Zhuqing agreed. She chose to trust a stranger over returning to the nightmare of her family.

"Excellent."

In a flash, the sword was out. It moved like a meteor, a cold wind following its path. The blade effortlessly slit one guard's throat—blood blossomed in the moonlight like a red plum. Before the other could react, the sword reversed and pierced his chest.

Zhu Zhuyun stood frozen as her two Soul Elder guards were insta-killed. Fear gripped her. Am I next?

Fu Ye's blade lunged toward Zhu Zhuyun's throat, but Zhu Zhuqing cried out, "No!"

At that exact moment, a shadow that had been hiding in the dark lunged at Fu Ye's neck with razor-sharp claws. Six spirit rings flashed—a Level 60+ Soul Emperor! Fu Ye didn't even move to dodge.

Clang!

The sound of metal hitting metal rang out. The assassin's eyes widened in shock.

Puchi! Puchi!

The Water Cold sword traced a magnificent icy arc. The assassin's throat and heart were opened in two deep, bone-chilling wounds. His broken body instantly transformed into an ice sculpture and shattered.
