STEPHAN
By noon, my office had already seen three meetings, two signed contracts, and more irritation than most people could survive in a week. I had just finished closing a major deal with overseas investors, yet instead of satisfaction, all I felt was a growing pressure behind my eyes that no amount of success seemed able to ease.
Usually, work centered me.
Numbers obeyed logic. Contracts respected structure. Problems in business have always had solutions if you were ruthless enough to find them.
But ever since yesterday, my mind had refused to remain where I placed it.
Every few minutes, I kept seeing Jasmine standing in that hallway with coffee staining her blouse and tears burning in her eyes while I chose pride over her.
I signed the last page of the contract with more force than necessary and pushed the file toward the legal team.
"Finalize everything and send it out."
