Chapter 94 - GRANDMOTHER

I am finally getting discharged from the hospital. The doctor had cleared me with strict instructions to rest and avoid sudden movements, but the neck brace I still had to wear made every step feel stiff and awkward. I touched it lightly as I sat on the edge of the hospital bed, waiting for the paperwork to be completed. 

My body still ached, but the real pain was deeper, the constant fear that the "script" could change again at any moment.

Stephan had stayed by my side the entire morning. He helped me into the wheelchair, his hands gentle but steady on my shoulders. 

"Easy," he murmured as he pushed me toward the exit. "I have got you."

Outside, Lucas was waiting with the car. Stephan carefully helped me stand, supporting most of my weight as I moved from the wheelchair to the passenger seat.
