A dark-brown spike shot out of the ground, heading straight for Theo.
He gritted his teeth, pushing his feet off the ground with everything he had.
The spike pierced through his clothes, just barely drawing a faint line of blood on his side.
'Shit,' he thought. 'His mana is running rampant!'
He immediately ducked down again, dodging a spike heading for his head.
'If it continues like this…' Theo thought, his chest tightening with desperation. 'He'll really die.'
Even though he knew what was going on, there was absolutely nothing he could do to help him.
Another spike tore out of the ground right in front of him, forcing Theo to twist his body mid-step.
Yet as the spikes continued coming for him, his attention was only on Owen.
His inhuman screams just barely echoed out under all the chaos, clearly going through immense amounts of pain.
'Can I do anything for him?' Theo thought, nails digging into his palms. 'Anything at all?'
