Chapter 29 - Slaying Kingpin

In the distance, Scorpion, the female Doctor Octopus, and Tombstone stood frozen, unable to comprehend what had just happened. Wasn't the White Demon's mutant ability supposed to be temporarily suppressed? Why had he recovered so long before the hour was up?

Tombstone, who possessed the superpower of invulnerability, began to tremble uncontrollably. He stared at the massive fan-shaped path of destruction, at the unrecognizable remains of Prowler's corpse, and finally at his own right arm—which had vanished simply from being caught in the aftershock of the attack.

"AHHH!"

The pain finally registered, and he let out a blood-curdling scream as a torrent of blood erupted from his severed limb. The body he once thought indestructible could no longer provide him even a shred of security. He instinctively tried to flee, but after taking one step, he realized one of his legs was also missing. He lost his balance and collapsed heavily onto the concrete.

Further away, Doctor Octopus and Scorpion hadn't taken direct damage, only sustaining minor cuts from flying stone shards. Yet, they were as still as if they were mortally wounded, staring blankly at the maimed Tombstone. As fellow supervillains working for Kingpin, they acknowledged Tombstone's strength. His invulnerability and high-temperature abilities made him a formidable combatant that even they struggled to deal with.

And yet, he had been reduced to this state by a mere aftershock? Where was his superpower? Where was the "indestructible" body he was so proud of?

As intelligent individuals, they realized the reality of the situation instantly. Against a White Demon with his powers intact, they were nothing but prey.

Run! Run now or it'll be too late!

However, just as Doctor Octopus and Scorpion turned to flee, they froze again, paralyzed by fear.

Gwen watched the scene unfold. Even though she had seen reports in the Daily Bugle, witnessing this power in person made her truly feel its majesty. Was this the White Demon's true strength? What had he gone through to grow this fast?

Just as she opened her mouth to ask, the White Demon appeared before her. He placed a hand on her head, and his magnetic voice reached her ears.

"Thank you, little spider. I'll take it from here."

With those words, Gwen saw him take a step and vanish, reappearing instantly in front of the fleeing Doctor Octopus and Scorpion. He flashed them a brilliant smile.

"You two haven't returned the favor yet. Don't be in such a hurry to leave!"

Before the words had even settled, Aurelius Viremont extended a palm toward Scorpion. A powerful attraction surged from his hand, dragging Scorpion toward him. Desperation flared in Scorpion's eyes, followed by a final, suicidal resolve. He lunged with his mechanical limbs and his razor-sharp tail stinger!

Even if he was destined to die, he wanted to make the White Demon pay. Perhaps the Demon's control wasn't perfect yet after just recovering—that was his only chance! His stinger and limbs were coated in lethal toxins; one scratch was all he needed!

But he only saw a flash of azure light. The next moment, the White Demon was holding a massive, severed tail stinger, thrusting it violently toward Scorpion's head. Scorpion looked down at his own body—his tail and six thick mechanical limbs had vanished from his armor, scattered across the ground nearby.

The massive stinger in the White Demon's hand, its tip cold and lethal, was aimed right between his eyes. Before he could utter a word, it pierced his skull. A spray of blood erupted, only to stop and hover ten centimeters away from Aurelius Viremont, held back by an invisible barrier.

After dealing with Scorpion, Aurelius Viremont looked at the female Doctor Octopus. In the time it took to kill Scorpion, she had already made it several hundred meters away. At that distance, even a sniper rifle would have trouble, but for someone with the Six Eyes, it was child's play.

He pulled a coin from his pocket and let it float before his index finger. Black and red lightning erupted from his fingertip, granting the coin an initial velocity several times the speed of sound. Before the coin could melt from air friction, it slammed into the center of Doctor Octopus's back.

The coin, carrying immense kinetic energy and followed by a sonic boom, tore her body in half at the waist. It traveled several hundred meters more before completely vaporizing in the air.

Aurelius Viremont took another step, appearing before the crawling Tombstone. As Tombstone looked up, trembling, a shadow descended from above. His consciousness instantly vanished into the void.

Stepping over Tombstone's crushed skull, Aurelius Viremont gave Gwen a radiant smile. He stepped into the air, appearing dozens of meters up, and began to walk toward the distant armored car.

Inside the armored car, Kingpin's face was dark. The mutant suppression device that cost billions of dollars had only lasted a few minutes. Was the White Demon too strong, or had he been cheated?

Damn it! Damn it all!

Suddenly, he saw a white-haired youth appear directly in front of the vehicle, smiling brilliantly at him. It was the White Demon.

In the next instant, the expensive armored car slammed into the stationary youth and came to a violent, screeching halt. Under the pressure of the massive kinetic energy, the front of the car crumpled like paper. The driver only had time to let out a short yelp before being flattened, spraying blood across Kingpin's face.

Then came the ear-piercing screech of tearing metal.

CRACK!

With a surge of strength from his hands, the white-haired man tore the entire armored vehicle in half, exposing Kingpin to the Demon's gaze. Kingpin immediately pulled his pistol and fired, but the bullets—and the driver's blood—all stopped in front of the White Demon, unable to move forward.

Seeing this, Kingpin forced himself to be calm. He said in a low voice, "I was wrong before. I am willing to give you all of my assets in exchange for my life."

The White Demon didn't answer. He simply kept walking forward. Each footstep felt like it was landing directly on Kingpin's heart, making it skip a beat. Kingpin grew frantic.

"If I die, those assets will be frozen! You won't get a cent! We are talking about tens of billions of dollars!"

The footsteps didn't stop until Aurelius Viremont was standing right in front of him. A fair, slender palm was held before Kingpin's face. Before he could say another word, a horrific pressure erupted from it, plunging him into eternal darkness.

Chunks of flesh and gore floated around Aurelius Viremont's body before being pushed away by a massive repulsive force, painting the surrounding area red. Aurelius Viremont grinned.

"If you had an Obelisk, an Infinity Stone, a Casket of Ancient Winters, Gungnir, the Eternal Flame, or the Eye of Agamotto, I might have tortured you for information and let you live a bit longer... But a mortal's money? No matter how much it is, it's useless to me."

He took another step, vanishing from the scene and flying at extreme speed toward the distant helicopter!
