Chapter 52 - Spatial Disturbance Device

Times Square, New York—one of the most bustling streets in the world.

The giant screens flanking the square usually broadcast advertisements for fashion brands leading global trends, but today, the vast majority of those screens were replaced by news that had nothing to do with fashion.

Eddie Brock, a rising star in the journalism world, stood before the camera with a grave expression:

"The White Demon has now grown to the point where he can withstand a nuclear blast; human technology can no longer affect him! Even worse, he acts entirely on whim, unrestrained by the rules of the secular world! Just a few days ago, he used a terrifying purple sphere to destroy the White House, and in his subsequent clash with the X-Men in central Washington, he released a mutant ability so powerful it nearly rivaled a nuke! The horrific repulsive force leveled a radius of several kilometers, causing tens of thousands of casualties!"

"This is the most terrifying terrorist attack since 9/11, and this strike is hundreds, even thousands of times more severe. Curiously, despite his ruthless nature, the White Demon did not kill the protesters who supported him. Because of this, supporters have emerged worldwide, and some leaders have even formed organizations dedicated to him! This makes me fear—must we truly leave the future of humanity to the whims of the White Demon? Will humans truly become slaves to mutants? Where does the future of humanity lie?"

In Times Square, a handsome man stood still, staring fixedly at the screen broadcasting news about the White Demon. In just a few moments, he learned everything: the most powerful mutant on Earth, a wanton slaughterer, the destroyer of the White House, the mutant feared by the military, the man who changed the world's power structure, and a title he was likely to earn in the future—the Exterminator of Humanity.

Mass slaughter of humans was intolerable to the Eternals, whose mission was to protect humanity. Even if the White Demon wasn't a Deviant, he was now placed on the Eternals' list of enemies!

As the strongest warrior of the Eternals, Ikaris took one last look at the screen. The White Demon stood suspended in the air above the crater left by the nuclear blast, laughing wildly and raising a middle finger to the sky.

This mutant cannot be left alive, or countless humans will die because of him. Besides, aren't mutants basically descendants of the Deviants anyway? Then he deserves to die even more!

Holding a strange device given to him by a SHIELD agent and recalling the location of the White Demon provided to him, Ikaris took to the skies, flying at extreme speed toward the coast of San Diego, California.

Ikaris was incredibly fast. Before long, he reached Tony Stark's seaside villa, arriving just in time to see the White Demon kill several humans! The White Demon seemed to notice him then, looking over with a cruel, delighted smile.

As expected, the White Demon must be killed, or the duty of the Eternals can never be fulfilled!

He looked down at the White Demon from a high altitude and issued his arrogant judgment: "Mutant, you deserve to die!"

Despite the human reports on the White Demon's terror, Ikaris did not believe the mutant could be stronger than him. He was the greatest warrior of the Eternals, unafraid of any challenge—certainly not one from a mere descendant of Deviants.

Meanwhile, on the Helicarrier, Nick Fury and Coulson watched the satellite footage intently. Ikaris and the White Demon had made contact. If all went as expected, a conflict was inevitable.

Fury asked Coulson, "Do you think Ikaris can defeat him?"

Coulson replied, "On his own, without being able to bypass the White Demon's spatial defense, victory would be nearly impossible. But with the Spatial Disturbance Device created by Dr. Reed Richards, he should be able to harm the White Demon. He has a solid chance!"

Fury wasn't so sure. While the device built by Reed Richards should work, he didn't believe the White Demon would fail so easily. Who knew what other abilities he was hiding or which ones had evolved during this time?

The moment Ikaris appeared, Aurelius Viremont recognized him. The Marvel version of Superman.

This Eternal named Ikaris possessed most of Superman's kit: cosmic rays from his eyes (similar to heat vision), super strength, super speed, super durability, flight, and more. However, he was weaker than Superman in every category and lacked a bio-electric field or the ability to grow stronger under a yellow sun.

Even so, he was powerful—the strongest warrior among the Eternals currently on Earth.

Initially, Aurelius Viremont was quite happy to see Ikaris. His newly upgraded Limitless needed a fresh target to test its strength. Those ordinary agents couldn't draw out the full power of the Lv.4 Limitless Technique.

But after hearing Ikaris's arrogant words, Aurelius Viremont's mood soured. Listen here, little brother, who do you think you are, talking to me like that?

Without hesitation, Aurelius Viremont vanished and reappeared directly in front of Ikaris!

Ikaris clearly didn't expect Aurelius Viremont to be this fast. He was caught off guard by a punch to the face. Accompanied by the roar of black-red lightning, his handsome face deformed instantly, and a burst of blood blossomed. He was launched backward, breaking the sound barrier under the sheer force and crashing into the ocean, sending up a massive plume of water dozens of meters high.

Ikaris sank into the seawater, his previous arrogance and contempt completely replaced by a single thought: Who am I? Where am I? What just happened?

With the powerful constitution of an Eternal, a single Black Flash from Aurelius Viremont wasn't enough to end him. He burst out of the water, hovering over the surface, and looked at the white-haired demon with a grim expression. The White Demon was much stronger than he imagined!

However...

Ikaris activated the Spatial Disturbance Device. Simultaneously, cosmic rays erupted from his eyes, surging toward the White Demon! Surely, the Demon wouldn't expect his spatial defense to fail. Under his cosmic rays, the White Demon would be heavily wounded!

The device disrupted the surrounding space. The cosmic rays indeed were not blocked; they streaked straight toward Aurelius Viremont! Just as a smile of victory began to form on Ikaris's face, he saw the White Demon looking at him mockingly. The cosmic rays couldn't harm him at all—instead, they were completely sucked into his body and absorbed!
