Jayden had summoned Ron Pellman back to SJ Corp that afternoon. The attorney arrived carrying a large sealed envelope tucked securely beneath his arm, one that contained documents important enough to require signatures from both Jayden and Sarah. He had expected the visit to be brief—a simple handoff, a few signatures, perhaps a short discussion before returning to his office.
Instead, the moment he stepped onto the executive floor, he realized something was off. The CEO's office was empty.
Ron paused outside the glass doors, staring through the spotless panels. The spacious office beyond sat silent and untouched, the chair behind the desk vacant.
He frowned. That was unusual. Jayden was not the type of man who disappeared without notice.
After a brief hesitation, Ron turned and headed toward Melissa Hart's office. If anyone knew where Jayden was, it would be his secretary. When he reached her doorway, he knocked lightly against the frame.
