Aaron slowly opened his eyes. His head throbbing, feeling like he just got hit by a bus. With shaky arms he pushed himself up onto his feet. Aaron had to hold onto the table to stop from falling over.
"Crap... I feel like crap." Aaron said, turning his head and saw the book missing. "I am so confused, what the hell happened?" looking down he saw the hole in his shirt, but he looked completely fine, no cuts, bruises, or even scars. Taking a deep breath Aaron ran his hand through his hair and tried to figure out what exactly happened.
"Okay so Grandpa left me the family ring, the ring is actually an artifact with a storage feature. Inside was a note entrusting the position of family head to me, a pile of gold coins equaling half of his total wealth, as well as his personal skill turned into a skill book. Apparently the activation to the book was 'open sesame' which is both unbelievably and also definitely possible with it being Grandpa's skill. After activating, the orb in the book flew out and shot into my chest. Yet I have no wound and the only proof it actually happened is the hole in my shirt. What does this tell me? Absolutely nothing."
Aaron groaned as he walked to the door and stepped out into the main hallway. Aaron was immediately tackled by a living shadow. He fell backwards onto the ground as Shade let out a small happy bark.
"Hey bud. Why are you here?" Aaron scratched behind his ear causing a rumbling sound to bubble up from Shades' chest. "Dude you need to get off you're crushing me. You're not a lap dog anymore." With an annoyed huff Shade got off of Aaron letting him stand.
Aaron started to walk to the doors of a church when a priest wearing red and gold robes with a grey trim saw him.
"I found him!" The sudden yell caught Aaron by surprise as he stared at the priest confused.
"Sir, why are you yelling?"
"You have been missing for three days sir. Victor has demanded you be brought to him immediately." The priest said taking a step forward. "May I take you to him?"
"I'd rather not." Aaron gave an apologetic smile as he side stepped the priest. "Have a good day sir."
With a small nod Aaron slipped out of the church and out to the main road of North Guard. Aaron took a deep breath and felt the air fill his lungs. As he breathed he felt mana seep into his body and settle in his chest.
'Weird, mana doesn't stay in the human body. It's supposed to be immediately expelled either through a skill or your breath.'
As Aaron kept walking he felt more and more mana settling in his body.
'For my sake I hope this is because of that orb. Otherwise this could be a big problem.'
After a few minutes he felt the mana he was breathing in getting reflected by the mana in his chest. Before getting pulled back out when he exhaled.
'So it has a limit to how much it can store. I wonder how much?'
Aaron felt a slight tug on the mana in his chest. A small amount of mana flowed towards his eyes. Aaron felt a small throb in his eye then to his shock, he watched what appeared to be golden strings pierce through the air in front of him.
The strings moved as if someone was sewing them into the air itself. In a few seconds the strings took the shapes of words.
[NAME: AARON OAK]
[ABILITY: TAMING]
[MANA: 100/100]
[BLESSINGS CLAIMED: 1]
Aaron completely froze. He looked down at Shade who had been silently following him.
"Can you see it bud?" Aaron's voice trembled slightly with excitement.
Shade just looked at Aaron like he was crazy, before snorting and continuing walking. When Aaron didn't follow, Shade stopped and looked at him with curiosity.
"So you can't see it." Aaron looked around and no one was reacting to it. The only people that looked at him were staring because of the hole in his shirt.
Returning his eyes to the strings of golden light. Aaron raised his hand to touch them and saw them break into dust upon contact. Aaron stood there as the golden dust faded into nothingness.

Aaron sat on his bed, staring at the glowing strings well absentmindedly petting Shade. Since discovering them two hours ago he had realized how they worked. All of the info that was shown had more information that he could read by focusing on that line of text.
[NAME: AARON OAK]
[ABILITY: TAMING]
[MANA: 100/100]
[BLESSINGS CLAIMED: 1]
Aaron focused on his name.
[NAME: AARON OAK, AARON OAK IS THE SON OF DEREK OAK AND SERAPHIM OAK. AARON IS THE FIRST BORN BY HUMAN AND DEMIHUMAN. AARONS GRANDFATHER ARTHUR OAK WAS A MAN CHOSEN BY FATE AND PASSED THAT BLESSING DOWN TO HIS KIDS.]
Aaron had already read this over five times and each time it was still shocking. He knew his Dad had ran away to live with the demihumans. Thus logically his mom was probably a demihuman so he wasn't surprised by that. What had shocked him was the fact his family was chosen by fate.
Aaron glanced at Shade curled up at the end of his bed. He had refused to return to the reserve most likely afraid Aaron would disappear again.
"Shade… you got any idea what it means to be chosen by fate?" Aaron's question was met with Shade rolling on to his back and snoring. "Well, aren't you helpful."
Aaron returned to the strings and focused on his ability next.
[ABILITY: TAMING, TAMING IS THE ABILITY TO FORM MAGIC CONTRACTS WITH BEASTS. THIS CONTRACT ALLOWS THE OWNER OF THE ABILITY TO GUIDE THEIR BEASTS IN BATTLE, AND HELP INCREASE THEIR STRENGTH.]
[SKILLS:]
[TAME - FORGE A CONTRACT WITH A BEAST.]
[INSPECT - CHECK THE INFO OF A TAMED BEAST.]
Aaron next focused on what the strings called blessings.
[BLESSINGS: BLESSINGS ARE THE LAST GIFT OF THE GODS THAT DIED AFTER THE GREAT CATASTROPHE. THERE IS AN UNKNOWN AMOUNT OF BLESSINGS. SOME BLESSINGS ARE MENT TO WORK WITH OTHERS. WHEN YOU GAIN ONE PART OF THE PAIR IT WILL REVEAL THE OTHER EXISTS.]
[BLESSINGS CLAIMED: 1]
Aaron focused on his claimed blessings.
[CLAIMED BLESSINGS:]
[MANA CORE: GRAY, 0% TO NEXT LEVEL.]
[REMANING BLESSINGS: ???]
Aaron let out a sigh. He had gained the ability he always dreamed of, yet it seemed to come with something much bigger tied to it then he liked.
'What the hell did Grandpa find? Is this what it means to be chosen by fate? So many questions that will never be answered.'
Aaron laid back on his bed and stared at the ceiling. letting his thoughts wander to the normal random thoughts of a teenage boy.

Victor sat in the family head's private study. His gem drake laying on the carpet in the middle of the room, his four winged bat hung from the back corner. The four winged bat stood at 6 ft tall with its four wings wrapped around it as it slept. The bat perfectly blended in with the shadows of the corner; the only reason you'd know it was there was the dangerous aura radiating from it.
Victor watched his new summon a baby obsidian snake. Its red eyes watched him with intelligence that its species shouldn't have.
"You can evolve can't you little one? I will make you great, even greater than Ouroboros." Victor's words were gentle as he scratched the chin of the snake. "And then you can kill all those in my way."
