Chapter 70 - The Observers

Chapter 70: The Observers

A long ivory dress dragged over the pure white marble floor, sparkling with soft gold and silver. Each wave rippled like a sea wave. Its simple design remarkably held a captivating unique aura.

Strong, yet beautiful.

Shimmering, yet soft.

The hem of the dress moved like a sea wave dancing with the sea breeze.

Was the dress made of silk?

Or was it made of the purest form of gold and silver? Adored with plucked stars from the milky way?

Nonetheless, it was an attire that made poets hold their breaths, writers pause their own, artists wonder about its origin.

The long dress swept the floor gracefully as if dancing with a soft breeze it made itself.

Shinnnn!

The dress's stars twinkled, embracing stunning colors.

The one wearing the dress leisurely walked forward without any sound.

No footsteps.

No rustling of the dress.

Not even the sound of a single breath.

It was as if a pantheon had suddenly come down to bewitch the spectaculars.

She pushed back her long wavy hair that looked like silk threads.

The color of her hair was extraordinary.

Whether it was made of faded rainbows and scattered aurora, hidden nebulas and soft chandelier light or it was purely made by painting melted opals and sprinkling crushed crystals over silver threads, who would know?

It was a hair color no one had seen before.

As she walked, parts of her hair subtly changed color in each mil-second by each angle.

It was a mesmerizing sight. Comparing that beauty to mere gods and angels felt like a shallow compliment, No—a unforgivable insult, a grave sin.

One might get curious about her face after setting their eyes on her hair, but unfortunately, a silver silk veil covered her entire face like a scarred treasure. Regardless, her cheerful and carefree demeanor said that the face behind the veil was smiling joyfully.

She walked, and walked and walked.

The white corridors and massive doors she walked past were left untouched.

Her pace was steady, almost slow. There was no hurry in her walk as she leisurely stepped forward. The way she walked was elegant, confident and authoritative. It held a clear purpose.

And finally, her walk came to an end.

Before her was a door with arch design. Same as any other door she had seen so far. However, she tilted her head and shifted her weight to one of her legs as if she found this door alone very interesting.

The curves of her body became more visible at her shifted posture. A piece of her hair flowed over her shoulder like a waterfall of liquid white opals.

A second passed as if she was deep in thoughts. Then she shifted her posture once again. Her back straight, her chin high, like a queen before her subjects.

Her slender, long fingers stretched out and she lightly touched the door.

The door opened without any sound, just like her.

A colossal space adorned with sky-soaring golden pillars, dazzling crystal chandeliers and a massive hole on the ceiling that opened a night sky with aurora greeted her in silence.

Amidst the alluring serenity it emitted, she seemed to be looking for something else.

A soft chuckle escaped her as soon as she found what she was looking for. A voice so soothing, so mesmerizing like a colorful, vivid dream came from her veiled figure;

—You're here again—

—So do you— A pair of glittering black eyes glanced at her.

—This is my favorite villa, you know— The woman covered by a veil shrugged her slender shoulders as she stepped into the space.

She walked towards the massive presence before her without any particular reaction except for the mischief overflowing her. Her pace was elegant, almost serene. The way her long hair swayed displayed a hint of impishness.

The difference in size the two mysterious women had was evidence from once glance, but their beauty was unmatchable and incomparable.

—You shouldn't be fooling around anymore. I recently saw Dimension Terra-900621-KBK's main timeline getting trampled by a human child for the 99th time— The black eyed entity looked down at the mysterious woman with pity.

Whether that pity was for the woman or the "human child" they mentioned, only the one who uttered those words would know.

—Eh~those kinds of things happen endlessly in these infinite timelines. I'll just send one of my avatars later—

The mysterious woman flicked her wrist, dismissing the entity's complaints with an easygoing attitude. Her tone was carefree as if it was none of her business.

—You are still the same—

—I am not—

Snap!

A multicolored crystal throne, the kind that fitted a Titan rather than her slender figure, emerged from the spot the mysterious woman stood. She sat there playfully continuing her words;

—I came back, didn't I? This is proof enough—

—And yet, your focus is on a single dimension. Just like before—

Snap!

The entity also snapped their fingers, mimicking the mysterious woman. A violet mixed black throne, the same design as the other, emerged a bit far away.

As the throne solidified, the entity shrank back in size, matching the mysterious woman. The said woman on the other hand, seemed to be in deep thoughts before she voiced her mind.

—I am atoning for my sins, that's all—

No one pointed out what sin she was talking about.

They both already knew. There was no need to point it out with words.

The stars in the entity's raven eyes dimmed in sorrow.

—It was just a mistake. You shouldn't dwell on it—

—It was my first mistake. I shouldn't have run away from it. I should've done this the moment I messed up—

The mysterious woman placed her chin on her palm with grace and looked straight ahead. The mirror-portal was still there, showing a scene of a golden haired young child like those of a TV screen.

—Yes, well. If that's what you want— the entity sighed, looking at the portal.

The mysterious woman hummed softly upon hearing the entity's resigned tone. Soon, a comfortable silence fell between them, broken by her hums from time to time.

In The White Heaven where each second could be felt from the depth of their soul, the two of them strangely felt detached.

As if the rules that bound the universe didn't apply to them

No, it was more like the rules obeyed them. As if those so-called rules were written and forged by their own hands.

When the silence dragged on…the one to break it with words was none other than the entity.

They parted their lips, their gaze landing on the mysterious woman with slight hesitation;

—You have to carry out your duties to keep the order and balance of the omniverse, Primordial Time. The casualties are becoming more and more severe—

—Oh c'mon. I have so many other names. Don't just "Time" me, it feels so old fashioned, Primordial Space—

—I finally get to see you after an unimaginable amount of time, and you're just complaining about your name?—

An indescribable chuckle escaped the entity called Primordial Space.

The way the mysterious woman, now called Primordial Time, avoided the pressure to take on her duties was obvious. Primordial Space seemed to see through her antics. However, she refrained from bringing it up again. Her dark eyes held an anxiety she struggled to hide.

—Oh dear…I came back from the future to especially have a chat with you. You already know that I can't stay long since I haven't completely collected my soul fragments yet in this timeframe. And yet your nagging is still the same—

—What can I do? You've started quite a fascinating scheme, even using me as one of your pawns—

—Aha! My deepest gratitude for your help, Darling Space. Please don't resent me for using you—

—I would never—

—I know—

When both replies came back without hesitation, both of them burst out laughing. Their pleasant laughter, so warm and tender, resonated with the dome they were in.

—By the way, half a worth of divine energy?—

Primordial Time barely managed to get her voice together.

—You know how to lie too, huh? That tiny thing doesn't even have a finger nail worth of divine energy compared to you. If it's half, it should be directed at me, for I have decided to keep my avatars as they are—

—I said half. I didn't say what. It could be half a finger nail— Primordial Space shrugged her shoulders. Her demeanour as if she was tainted by the mischievous aura of Primordial Time.

—My goodness. You've become quite the hubristic omniverse observer— Time giggled.

—If you are dissatisfied, give her more, those are all yours anyway—

—That's not how Time works— Her giggles became increasingly louder.

—True—

Both of them glanced at the portal together.

The golden haired girl—Kyriaki, was looking up at the spaceship drifting far away into the distance with glittering eyes.

—How pitiful— Primordial Space mumbled. Barely audible to Primordial Time.

In return, Primordial Time remained silent.

This time too, there was no specified name on who was pitiful.

Whether it was Kyriaki, Primordial Time or Primordial Space…all three of them were already too deeply involved for them to feel merely pity.

Pity wasn't enough to handle what was to come.

Just then, the conversation beyond the portal came to an end.

___"Humans also have wisdom. However, since their lives are so very fleeting, they give in to their primal instincts and impulsiveness so easily. That's what makes them so unpredictable, amazing and fascinating."

___"...I guess so."

___"Let's learn from them since their complicated mindset sometimes causes miracles or calamities. Perhaps, we might find our own miracle and surpass calamity if we learn from them better."

—Oh my, how clever—

—Don't tease me— Primordial Time sounded like she was pouting behind the veil.

—I'm not teasing you, I'm praising my Apostle—

—Hmph—

Certainly, she was pouting. Primordial Space's eyes curled into lovely crescent moons. Her long eyelashes fluttered as she smiled delicately.

—I'm not the only one praising her. Primordial Reality is donating gifts left and right because he cannot contain his excitement—

—Ah, I saw it too. Pfft…he's abusing his Akashic Records at this point. He was unable to contact me, so he's eager to know every little thing Kyriaki is doing to sooth his curiosity. I fear he might even spread Kyriaki's story around the omniverse in different forms using his archive. Similar to how he speared the name of his favorite people in different dimensions sometimes—

—I'm certain that Primordial Creation and Primordial Destruction are also very eager to do the same—

—Which means all the Omniverse Observers are paying attention to a single dimension. And yet, you are nagging only me for the same reason? This is unfair—

—You've slacked off for who knows how many years, unlike us—

—Ugh—

Primordial Space chuckled softly. The planets and stars surrounding her head sparkled, looking lovely as always. It looked like an older sister scolding her much younger immature sister when they interacted.

—Time…— Then she called out, not taking her eyes off of Kyriaki.

Her tone was soft, like a whisper of an immature universe from the beginning of time.

—Hmmm?—

—Don't be so hard on yourself, Time. Ask for help, we would never turn our back on you—

—…Thank you—

"The only beings that cannot be measured by the ranking system of the universe are called the Omniverse Observers. The ones who are above any mortal, any god, any divine entity. They are referred to as Primordial Time, Space, Reality, Creation and Destruction."
