"Danzo, this is our Uchiha clan's secret technique. I'd really like to know how you found out about it," Jie Uchiha said with a cold sneer.
With so many outsiders present, Jie didn't want to explain in detail. If people learned that the Sharingan possessed a secret technique capable of rewriting reality to bring the dead back to life, the danger facing the Uchiha clan would multiply exponentially.
"But never mind, I don't even need to think to know what happened."
Jie shot Shisui Uchiha a piercing glare.
'Traitor.' Every day, Shisui plotted to use Kotoamatsukami to change Fugaku's mind, naively believing that doing so would allow the Uchiha clan and the village to coexist peacefully. Now, he had even leaked the clan's most guarded secret to Danzo. What unwavering betrayal. What thorough brainwashing.
Jie didn't even know how to evaluate a guy like Shisui anymore. But there was no point dwelling on it; he shook his head slightly, his gaze sharpening into something deadly. He had sworn to kill Danzo today, which meant Danzo had to die. No matter how many Sharingan the old man had embedded in his arm, or how many times he could revive himself, his death was inevitable.
"Jie Uchiha, let's end things here today. If the Uchiha clan retreats now, I won't pursue this matter," Danzo said calmly, meeting Jie's eyes.
Jie laughed in sheer anger. 'Won't pursue the matter?' Indeed, there was no need for that. Danzo was going to die today anyway, and what could a dead man pursue?
"Hatake Kenjutsu: Iai Beheading - Flash!"
Done wasting words, Jie vanished from the spot in an instant.
Clang! Blades clashed. Jie's figure slowly materialized in front of Danzo. Frowning, he looked at Shisui, who was standing protectively in front of the elder, struggling to parry the heavy blow with his tantō.
"Shisui, are you absolutely determined to protect him?" Jie asked.
Shisui forced a bitter smile. "Young Clan Head, the Uchiha clan has chosen the wrong path. The village belongs to everyone. The various clans can only survive in the ninja world as long as the village stands. But right now, the Uchiha clan threatens Konoha's very existence. Therefore, Lord Danzo must live. He must live to keep the clan in check so the village can continue to prosper."
Hearing Shisui's twisted logic, Jie was so furious he laughed again. Shisui might as well change his surname to Shimura. The Uchiha clan had fed him, clothed him, and provided him with the swordsmanship and resources for his training. But the moment Shisui made a name for himself in the ninja world, he let Danzo brainwash him completely. It was bad enough that he had no intention of repaying the clan that raised him, but to actually believe that Danzo suppressing the Uchiha was for their own good?
Jie had nothing left to say to such a die-hard sycophant. Keeping this kind of Shisui alive would only bring disaster to the clan. He would simply let Shisui and his precious Lord Danzo die here together.
"Hatake Kenjutsu: Chasing Wind!"
Jie's eyes turned icy. Without another word, his stance shifted. The Sword of the Thunder God, enveloped in a glowing white chakra, struck faster and faster. The speed was so intense that even with his Sharingan active, allowing his kinetic vision to track every trajectory of Jie's blade, Shisui's body gradually failed to keep up with his eyes.
A heavy slash forced Shisui's guard wide open. Jie's gaze narrowed. 'A perfect opening!'
"Hatake Kenjutsu: Thunder Slash!"
Locking onto Shisui's vulnerability, Jie shifted his grip. The white light on the Sword of the Thunder God immediately grew three times brighter. Even before the sharp sword aura reached him, it had already cut a small gash across Shisui's cheek.
"Die!"
The blade fell, and a spray of blood bloomed into the air. The extending shockwave of the slash flew into the distance, felling an untold number of trees in its wake.
"I originally wanted to clean house first—sever your hope before letting you die in despair," Jie said indifferently, looking past the carnage at Danzo, who was still maintaining his hand seals. "But since you're so eager to throw your life away early, I'll grant your wish."
Beside Danzo, Shisui's figure suddenly reappeared. A long, deep gash exposed the bone on his chest, blood profusely spurting from the wound. If not for an unexpected intervention, that last strike would have undoubtedly killed him.
However, Danzo's sudden Vacuum Sphere had forced Jie to evade slightly. That tiny shift was all Shisui had needed to seize an opportunity. Using his masterful Body Flicker Technique, he grasped a fleeting chance at survival. Though he couldn't completely avoid Jie's slash, he had at least managed to keep his life.
"Fire Release: Fire Dragon Flame Bullet!"
"Wind Release: Vacuum Great Sphere!"
"Combination Ninjutsu: Beacon Fire Double Dragon Bullet!"
Fire fueled by wind—the flames swelled violently against the gale. In a span of just a few meters, a terrifying fire dragon fully took shape. Even before it reached them, Danzo and Shisui could feel its horrifying heat. With the naked eye alone, it was obvious that this combination ninjutsu was countless times stronger than the one Danzo's Baku summon had just swallowed.
Facing Jie's monstrous flames, Danzo and Shisui didn't dare lower their guard. Their expressions turned grave. Exchanging a single glance, they immediately understood each other's intentions and rapidly formed hand seals.
"Water Release: Great Waterfall Technique!"
"Earth Release: Earth Flow Rampart!"
"Combination Ninjutsu: Great Mudslide Technique!"
Their abundant combat experience told Danzo and Shisui that neither the waterfall nor the earth wall alone would be enough to save them from the raging inferno. A combination ninjutsu was vastly more powerful than a single technique—especially considering Jie was incredibly proficient in both Fire and Wind Release. He had forcefully elevated two B-rank jutsu to a level of destructive power that far surpassed standard A-rank techniques. To counter it, they either had to block with a combination technique of the same caliber, or evade its brunt entirely. There was no third option.
The fire dragon crashed down, and the Great Mudslide Technique expanded before Danzo and Shisui, forming a desperate barrier of life. The terrifying heat instantly evaporated massive amounts of water, sending thick, scalding white steam billowing into the air and obscuring everyone's vision.
However, this was the open, boundless expanse of Konoha's back mountain. A gust of wind blew past, quickly dispersing the steam. The mudslide had been baked into a rock-hard earthen shell. Danzo and Shisui huddled beneath it, their skin flushed red. Although the mud had blocked the brunt of the attack, the superheated water vapor had nearly steamed them alive.
They had survived the terrifying fire dragon.
But before Danzo and Shisui could even breathe a sigh of relief, Jie's next attack was already upon them.
"Lightning Blade!"
