"Don't worry, Father, I'm fine." Jie smiled faintly and shook his head. Aside from the severe drain on his visual prowess, he hadn't suffered a single scratch.
"That's good." Fugaku breathed a heavy sigh of relief.
"Danzo..."
Hiruzen Sarutobi walked over to the corpse, his face etched with profound grief as he stared down at his old comrade.
"Lord Hokage," Jie said, his tone perfectly indifferent. "Danzo Shimura defiled the First Hokage's corpse and stole the Sharingan of the Uchiha clan without authorization. Now that the rogue ninja Danzo has been executed, please order a thorough investigation of the Shimura clan."
"Danzo is already dead!" Hiruzen growled, tearing his gaze from the body to glare at the Uchiha heir, his eyes blazing with anger. "Must the Uchiha clan exterminate them completely?!"
"Lord Hokage must be joking. Everything the Uchiha clan does is purely for the sake of the village," Fugaku interjected smoothly, picking up exactly where his son left off. "For Danzo Shimura to dare commit such a brazen series of crimes, there must be someone supporting him from the shadows. The Shimura clan holds the greatest suspicion."
"Could it be that Lord Hokage believes the one supporting Danzo wasn't the Shimura clan, but someone else?" Jie asked meaningfully.
"This..." Hiruzen was momentarily choked for words. He gritted his teeth, his voice dropping to a harsh whisper. "Don't push things too far!"
"Too far?" Jie's smile widened. He turned his back to the Hokage and raised his voice so it echoed across the compound. "Uchiha clan, hear my command! Lord Hokage has ordered a thorough investigation of the Shimura clan. Kill anyone who resists without mercy!"
"Yes, sir!"
Upon receiving Jie's order, a massive contingent of Uchiha clansmen immediately pivoted and surged toward the Shimura clan's territory.
"Jie Uchiha, what the hell are you doing?!" Hiruzen roared, his eyes widening in sheer, unadulterated disbelief. Falsifying a Hokage's order right to his face? What kind of utter madness was this?!
"It's nothing. Since Lord Hokage refuses to make up his mind, I can only reluctantly help you make the difficult decisions." Jie chuckled, completely ignoring the Hokage's outrage.
With Fugaku at his side, he casually strolled out of the gathering crowd, heading back to the Uchiha compound.
Seeing Jie Uchiha's blatant power play, the patriarchs of the various major clans present exchanged loaded, contemplative glances. Tonight, only Danzo had died, but it undoubtedly heralded a massive political earthquake within the Hidden Leaf.
Even though the Uchiha clan had carefully prepared the charges and paraded the evidence in advance, it couldn't erase the terrifying truth: Danzo was once the Hokage's assistant, Hiruzen's old teammate, Tobirama Senju's direct disciple, and a core member of the Konoha Elder Council.

Upon returning to the Uchiha compound, Mikoto Uchiha immediately rushed out to meet them. Seeing Jie and Fugaku return safely, the heavy stone in her heart finally dropped.
Jie chatted briefly with his mother to reassure her, then went to check on Sasuke in his room. Completely ignoring Itachi Uchiha's eager, probing gaze from the corner of the hall, Jie walked straight back to his own bedroom and locked the door.
Too much had happened tonight. He needed a moment to breathe, and more importantly, he wanted to see exactly what kind of harvest this series of drastic actions had yielded.
