Scarlett's POV
I didn't answer. I didn't want to discuss my bloodline or my rarity while pinned under him like prey.
Instead, I focused on the heat of his body, the way his fur felt against mine, and forced the shift. My bones cracked and shivered as I returned to my human form, lying naked and vulnerable on the forest floor.
Leon followed suit instantly. He shifted back, his heavy, human weight still pressing me down into the dirt and leaves. He didn't move away. He stayed right there, his chest heaving against mine, his hands coming up to cup my face with a gentleness that felt completely at odds with the chase.
"Why didn't you say it?" he breathed, his eyes searching mine. "Why didn't you tell us?"
