Chapter 51: I Am the Shadow Khan's Only Master!
Before Yukino could figure out the logic behind this, Kazama spoke.
"Sorry, that's not for sale."
"Not for sale?"
Valmont sneered, his eyes sweeping contemptuously over this ignorant little girl as if he'd heard the world's funniest joke.
"Besides, who said I was buying it?"
"This is between men, little girl. Didn't your upbringing teach you not to interrupt?"
Then Valmont raised his hand and snapped his fingers.
The next second, the light in the previously bright living room suddenly dimmed.
The afternoon sunlight that had been streaming through the windows seemed swallowed by some invisible force.
The shadows in the room became thick like flowing ink, defying gravity as they seeped out from the floor, corners, and even cracks in the ceiling.
Even the shadows beneath Kazama and Yukino's feet began to twist and deform like living things.
Kazama sensed something wrong and quietly positioned Yukino behind him protectively.
Yukino's eyes widened as she watched the darkness beneath her feet suddenly come alive.
"What... what is this?"
Then pairs of blood-red eyes lit up in the shadows.
Ninja dressed in deep blue skintight night clothing, faces covered, eyes glowing with eerie red light—like demons crawling from hell—emerged from the shadows in the walls, floor, and even ceiling.
One. Two. Five. Ten.
In less than three seconds, the already cramped living room was filled with these ninja.
Yukino watched this scene as her carefully constructed worldview suffered tons of critical hits once again.
Ninja?
Why would this antique profession that only existed in period dramas and manga appear in 21st century Kamimizu City?
And growing out of walls?
This wasn't scientific! This completely violated the law of conservation of matter!
Yukino felt her worldview being dragged across the ground.
Behind her, Kazama said quietly:
Shadow Khan.
The most classic cannon fodder from Jackie Chan Adventures, and the most useful tool workers.
Kazama looked at the Shadow Khan completely surrounding them. Even though he'd been mentally prepared, when actually facing this group of ninja, his palms still sweated slightly.
He knew the Shadow Khan's characteristics.
Unkillable, immortal—even when scattered they could reassemble, and their numbers were endless.
To solve this troublesome group, he had to catch the leader first.
At this moment, Valmont ignored their shock and instead pulled something from his coat.
It was an ancient-looking metal torch with four dragon-head sculptures at the top.
The Dragon's Eye.
The divine artifact for finding the twelve talismans.
"Since you won't hand it over, I'll find it myself."
"Let me see where that treasure is hidden..."
Valmont muttered quietly, looking at the magical detector.
Following his movements, the eyes of those four dragon heads suddenly lit up with brilliant red light.
Then, under Valmont's expectant gaze, that red indicator beam didn't point at who he thought was the real Kazama Chiba, but straight at the bag of the girl in the short skirt.
Or more precisely, at Kerberos hiding in Kazama's bag.
"Oh?"
Valmont froze, then suddenly burst into laughter.
"I didn't expect such an important thing to be on a woman. Looks like Mr. Kazama is quite the player—understands that the most dangerous place is the safest place."
Then he waved his hand.
"Since we found it, no need to be polite. Go! Capture that girl! Bring me the item!"
The Shadow Khan receiving their orders surged like a black tide toward Kazama.
"Ka... Kazama!"
Yukino had never seen such a scene. She instinctively wanted to retreat but found the security door already behind her.
"Seeking death!"
Kazama's eyes flashed with murderous intent.
Without any panic, that slender right hand instantly pulled a card from his pocket.
"Thunder!"
A delicate shout.
A violent lightning bolt roared into the Shadow Khan formation.
"BOOM—!!"
That was genuine high-voltage current.
The violent lightning serpent instantly swallowed the three Shadow Khan charging at the front.
The living room immediately filled with the smell of ozone.
"What?!"
Valmont was startled by this sudden supernatural attack and hurriedly retreated behind the sofa to avoid the sparking electricity.
"Damn it! Is she a magician?"
"So strong..."
Yukino hiding behind watched that back standing in front of her, manipulating lightning. An indescribable震撼 welled up in her heart.
This was his power?
This was the truth he'd been hiding beneath that ordinary exterior all along?
However, before she could finish her amazement, the dissipating smoke twisted and converged eerily in the air. In less than three seconds, those ninja who'd just been blown apart reassembled perfectly intact, standing in their original positions.
The most terrifying thing about the Shadow Khan was never their combat ability.
But their cockroach-like immortality.
As long as the mask existed, they were undying.
Never tiring.
Never feeling pain.
"It's useless!"
Seeing the Shadow Khan unharmed, Valmont relaxed and laughed loudly, watching this scene like a comedic performance.
"My soldiers are immortal! Your little tricks can't save you! Just surrender!"
"Immortal?"
Kazama sneered.
Then he withdrew The Thunder card and looked at that group of Shadow Khan approaching again. Not only was there no fear on his face, but a smile of long-awaited anticipation.
He'd wanted to experiment whether The Shadow card could control the Shadow Khan for a while now.
And this time Valmont had conveniently given him the opportunity.
"Since they're shadow monsters..."
"Then I'll use the ancestor of shadows to deal with you."
Then Kazama pulled out The Shadow card.
As The Shadow card activated, the light in the entire living room completely vanished.
Those shadows originally controlled by Valmont and full of malice seemed to encounter their true sovereign in an instant.
Like ministers meeting their emperor.
Like tributaries flowing into the sea.
Those Shadow Khan suddenly froze in mid-air like they'd been paused.
Those eyes originally glowing with crimson light now actually showed fear.
"What's happening?!"
Valmont, who'd been preparing to enjoy watching his prey get caught, found his smile completely frozen.
He frantically waved his arms, roaring at those disobedient subordinates:
"Move! Attack her! What are you doing?! Who gave you permission to stop?!"
But no matter how he roared, those ninja remained motionless.
Those red eyes that should only obey Shendu and the mask's summons now began to flicker slightly, seemingly undergoing some intense internal struggle.
In Kazama's vision, he saw countless black threads extending from The Shadow card, directly piercing into each Shadow Khan's body, forcibly taking over the control rights belonging to the Tara mask.
"I see..."
Kazama's mouth curved into an extremely playful smile.
Although these Shadow Khan were Tara's creations, their essence was still shadows.
And in the Clow Card system, The Shadow card was the superior existence governing all shadows.
As long as the magical power was sufficient and the operation proper—
This was a blatant NTR.
Kazama clapped his hands, looking at those now completely still ninja, showing a brilliant smile.
"Sorry."
"Your cheat expired."
Then he snapped his fingers like Valmont had done.
"Snap."
Like receiving the highest pardon.
Those dozens of Shadow Khan who'd been fierce and menacing moments ago, under Valmont's horrified gaze, uniformly sheathed their weapons.
Then uniformly knelt on one knee before Kazama, lowering their heads.
That posture—respectful as if they were paying homage to their new king.
"Wha... what?!"
Valmont's cane clattered to the floor.
His eyes wide, watching this absurd scene, his brain completely short-circuited.
This was the Dark Hand's strongest trump card!
The undying army bestowed by Shendu!
How could a little girl turn them with a single sentence?!
Yukino's eyes widened watching this dramatic scene, feeling her brain was completely inadequate.
Valmont stepped back in disbelief.
"This... this is impossible..."
"You... what did you do?! They're mine! They belong to Shendu!"
"Nothing is impossible, Mr. Valmont. Thanks for sending me a bunch of servants."
"The Shadow Khan are under my rule now."
Kazama extended his hand, pointing at the completely panicked gang leader.
His tone casual.
"Take him down."
This time the Shadow Khan had no hesitation. They instantly turned their guns and pounced on the man who'd been their master just moments ago.
"No... wait! We can talk! I have money! Lots of money!"
Valmont screamed in terror, turning to run.
But it was too late.
Countless black arms reached out from all directions, instantly drowning him in a sea of black.
