Chapter 24 - Prologue 24: The Death of the Hero

The body of the Sun God crumbled, and from it burst forth pure energy.

"Well done, you've destroyed my mortal vessel. And now what, insect? All you've accomplished is forcing me to waste more energy to kill you."

"Don't worry about me… wiping that smug smile off your face is enough."

"MAKES IT ALL WORTH IT!"

The concentrated energy of the Sun God expanded, beginning to take form.

And from that energy emerged a proud, winged lion twenty meters long — with two heads.

Then, around him, two mysterious figures appeared — companions of the warrior who had come to fight alongside the hero.

A humanoid figure with four bright blue eyes with four arms and dragonfly-like wings began to sing in an unknown language, causing the earth to tremble and trap the lion in its embrace.

At that moment, the ground shook under the heavy weight of a colossal half-spider woman, wielding a curved saber that exuded a green aura.

The spider woman moved around the great lion, slashing it with her blade.

The warrior stepped forward to the spider woman, but the lion finally broke free from its improvised prison, lunging at the spider woman and forcing her to retreat.

The blue-eyed woman sang another song, and the warrior and spider woman moved much faster than before.

The lion began to change again — its tail extended several more meters, turning into a sword at the tip. The spider positioned herself behind the lion, releasing venom from her lower mouth. Once again, the lion tried to escape, but the warrior held him in place, plunging into the poisonous mist along with the lion, striking each time the beast dared to move.

The spider woman entered the poisonous haze, but the lion struck her with its tail while slashing at the warrior with its massive claws. Yet the warrior parried each blow, preventing the talons from piercing his armor.

Then, the blue-eyed woman sang again — and the spider woman vanished.

"Dragon Emblem."

An explosion erupted where they had been fighting sent the lion flying.

"Enough."

The lion grimaced in fury as its form shifted into a more human shape. An armor of pure energy appeared — imposing yet elegant — with four blades orbiting around it.

"TODAY I SHALL END YOU, PLAGUE OF THE UNDERWORLD!"

But before the Sun God could charge forward, the poison surrounding him began slowly destabilizing his very form.

"Impressive... a venom capable of affecting ever ether itself? Still, it's not enough to stop me."

The blue-eyed woman was about to sing again when the golden armor shot forward to face her. The spider woman stepped in its path, but the armor struck one of her legs with a punch, making her collapse under her own weight.

Then, two of the four floating blades — as if alive — sought to cut her down, and they did. While one blade attacked her upper torso, the other sliced through the numerous legs of her lower half, preventing her from regenerating, as the solar energy lingered within her body.

But before the blades could finish her, her body vanished.

The golden armor nearly reached the blue-eyed woman, who, while singing, rose higher into the sky. The warrior tried to catch up, dodging the four blades.

The golden armor was about to seize her, but suddenly its form distorted — trembling under the poison that still affected its stability.

At that instant, the blue-eyed girl disappeared from sight.

"Teleportation again? You care a lot about your friends, don't you, Hero?"

The warrior stood face to face with the Sun God, staring intently at him.

"Unlike you, Sun God, I love this world."

"How curious that you say that... at this moment, in this situation — where you've helped exterminate every being on the surface."

"Those traitors deserved to die, killing them was mercy. The only ones I care for are the inhabitants of the depths. What happens to those on the surface means nothing to me."

"Enough talk. I'll end this here."

The warrior charged forward again, dodging the blades that sought to shred his flesh.

The golden armor didn't back down either — throwing punches. One struck the warrior's stomach, and a solar explosion blasted him backward.

"Damn it... now that he's switched to a monk's style, he's far superior in close combat..."

The golden armor, realizing its advantage, attacked more aggressively — with punches and solar bursts that destroying everything, with shockwaves devastating kilometers around them. The battlefield outside the Last Bastion had turned from a valley into a barren wasteland.

"Where are you going, little ant? Afraid of the glorious light of the sun?"

The warrior retreated, sending waves of sword-aura to cut the armor — but the golden armor easily dodged everything thrown at it.

"I'll have to use my new emblem... there's no other choice. No more holding back — this fight will decide everything. It's useless if I die now..."

"Underground Emblem... activated."

"Oh, Sun God... feel the wrath of all my brothers."

Then, the black armor began to expand — transforming into a massive bear-like figure. Yet it was made of bent plates and sharp metal spikes. The head stretched like a wolf's maw, and the armor's plates and edges shifted constantly.

The warrior lunged at the Sun God. Sparks flew from the clash between the two armors — the god's blows landing on the warrior's massive body, pushing him back slightly, but never stopping his assault.

Then, the warrior managed to bite into the golden armor, dragging it across the ground.

"DAMN BEAST, LET ME GOOOO!"

The four blades, unable to pierce the beast's heavy armor, aimed for its mouth and detonated, shattering the warrior's armor and freeing the golden one.

The warrior's jaw was shattered — but it regenerated quickly. He lunged again at the Sun God.

Before he could bite, the Sun God summoned a massive hammer and struck the warrior's gigantic form, finally forcing him back. But that didn't stop him. Even if the Sun God struck him again and again, he would not stop. He would kill the god who had brought so much misery.

The Sun God summoned the fire orb once more — but this time, his wounds were healing much slower.

The warrior's already colossal body grew even larger and charged at the god. But the Sun God didn't falter. The golden armor, now shining brighter than ever, unleashed devastating attacks against the warrior — and slowly, the warrior's regeneration began to fade.

The battle was reaching its end. The golden armor prepared to swing the hammer once again — but the warrior activated the Dragon Emblem, unleashing a terrifying power in his new form: a dragon's breath made of pure aura energy.

The golden armor struck the wave of light — yet the attack blasted away both the hammer and its right arm, erasing them in a violent burst of energy. Where an arm once was, there remained only a severed stump.

The warrior rejoiced — victory was close. He rushed at full speed toward the golden armor.

He was about to strike down his enemy and claim victory — but then, a vibration shook everything. The colossal machine above the Last Bastion began to radiate a blinding glow.

"It's too late, Hero. It's finally over. There's nothing you can do now."

Before him no longer stood the broken armor — but a grand, radiant golden figure: the Sun God himself, an incredibly powerful Rank 10 being, in all his splendor.

Then, the world around the machine began to warp into ether.

The warrior's eyes widened in horror.

"What have you done...? WHAT THE HELL HAVE YOU DONE!? ARE YOU REALLY GOING TO KILL US ALL, YOU CRAZY BASTARDS!?"

"Silence."

The Sun God's hand pierced effortlessly through the once-impenetrable armor, stabbing into the hero's chest.

"You fought well, Hero. A fitting farewell to this world," the god smiled. "Goodbye... forever."

"Damn... you..."

Then, on the horizon, a massive dark shadow rose — moving toward the machine.

"It's too late... even for you. It cannot be stopped."

And with that, the god threw the hero's lifeless body aside.
