Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: A Divine Encounter

A couple of days had already passed since the battle in which Damon demonstrated his power to the world. It was needless to say that many were impressed. Others feared what Damon might become in the future.

Some cared less, like the Hindu pantheon, where beings like Shiva, Vishnu, and Brahma were introducing themselves as the Trimurti, as well as Indra, who was also making a name for himself. They viewed the Greek pantheon as ants that posed no threat to them—at least for now.

On the other hand, the Biblical Pantheon was very busy with its faction war, but occasionally some demons crossed into the Biblical Pantheon to wreak havoc. They saw it as a place where they could satisfy their pleasures without interference from the biblical God or angels.

This was something that was beginning to bother Damon these days, so he started exterminating these invaders, making his name known among the demons.

Meanwhile, the Nordic pantheon was the most impressed; Thor, lover of battles, was already laughing loudly and shouting that he would come down to the Greek pantheon to fight Damon.

This did not sit well with Odin, who forbade him from doing so until the Greek pantheon sorted out their affairs. On the other hand, Loki already saw the threat that Damon might pose to his future plans if he continued to grow stronger.

Kronos was angry.

No, he was furious; every day the voice in his head grew louder, and now, with the news of Damon's victory, it had become unbearable.

How was it possible that Damon had grown strong enough to defeat not only Menoetius but also two of his brothers?

This was a significant loss for them… Moreover, the abilities they said Damon used filled him with uncertainty. This war had to end before Damon became even stronger. Kronos promised himself. Little did he know…..

With the Olympians

With the battle ending in favor of Kronos' children, happiness was everywhere on Mount Olympus. The Cyclopes were happier than ever with this win; they celebrated for days, laughing and chanting.

Rhea didn't say anything at first, but her smile and happiness showed how glad she was that her family was finally having a good moment to make memories. At least for a short while.

But that didn't stop Hera from still being angry at Damon. He had left, sure… but he never sended a single message to show he was alright, and then, after three long years, he appeared as if nothing had happened.

Fine. Slapping him back then had been impulsive, she admitted that, but it still didn't justify not giving the smallest sign of life. She had been worried sick about her stupid brother. The nights she spent awake, unable to shake the thought that Kronos had lured him into a trap, made her skin crawl; just the thought of it was enough to make her stand on end.

She was pulled from her thoughts when someone touched her shoulder, making her turn around, only to see Damon looking at her with sadness while holding something in his hand: the most beautiful flower she had ever seen in her life, a red and white carnation.

He extended the hand holding the flower. "I'm sorry… I could've let you know I was okay."

Hera carefully took the carnation with trembling hands as tears spilled from her eyes and hugged Damon. "Don't do it again," she said, still holding him, careful not to damage the precious carnation she had in one of her hands.

From that day on, the carnation became Hera's favorite flower… it would take thousands of years for her to have another.

With Damon

After apologizing and spending time with Hera, Damon moved away from the noise of the celebrations, preferring to spend time in the sun and think about the future. Even alone, laughter still rolled through Olympus, loud enough to pretend the war had ended.

He stopped at a spring that ran clear and cold through a split in the rock. Watching the water run, calming his thoughts.

Damon sat, drew his blade, and set it across his knees.

While he had won, he couldn't help but feel a bit shy; the Titans still outnumbered them, and his brothers, although strong, couldn't face two Titans at once.

"What is troubling you so much, dear?" said a feminine voice behind him.

Damon suddenly snapped around, drawing his sword from its sheath and confronting the unknown person who approached him without him even sensing it. His danger senses were screaming loudly.

To his surprise, it was a woman, a very beautiful woman.

She looked like spring given a body, tall and graceful, with a calm beauty that didn't need to try. Long, sea-green hair spilled past her waist in soft waves, catching the light like leaves after rain. A crown of gold and pale blossoms rested in her hair, framing a gentle face with clear green eyes and a quiet, knowing smile.

She wore a flowing white gown that draped off her shoulders, light as mist, trimmed with fine gold embroidery. A wide, ornate golden belt cinched her waist, set with a luminous green gem that matched her jewelry, delicate earrings, a necklace, and chains that shimmered across the fabric like threads of sunlight. Even her sandals were elegant, laced in gold up her ankles, as if every step she took was meant to look effortless.

Damon found himself surprised, staring at the beauty of this woman… but quickly snapped back to reality and asked: "Who are you and how did you manage to get behind me?"

Smiling at his reaction, Gaia replied, "My name is Gaia, primordial of Earth and Life."

Damon's eyes widened. He literally had his grandmother in front of him. A primordial whose power and presence he couldn't even sense. Such was the difference in power between a normal god and a primordial.

Damon was determined to reach this level someday.

"Considering you're my grandmother… you're certainly beautiful; I imagined you'd have… a different appearance, no offense, haha."

Gaia let out a soft, almost musical laugh.

"It's been a long time since someone flattered me like this; it's certainly refreshing. I didn't expect you to be that type," Gaia said with a slight blush on her cheeks.

"I usually don't say it openly, but when I like what I see, I just say it, regardless of whether that person is thousands of years older than me or if they're my grandmother in human terms," Damon said, feeling a bit bold.

Gaia chuckled quietly, "I like your honesty. Few have dared to speak to me without fear for centuries." She said, moving closer to Damon and placing a finger on his chest. "But what would Rhea say if she found out about this?"

"She doesn't have to find out," Damon replied, smiling as he looked directly into her eyes. "It can be our little secret."

Gaia watched him for another moment and then genuinely laughed.

"What a cheeky fellow you turned out to be…," she murmured, shaking her head with a smile. "I like it."

"But I'm not here for that, maybe in the future if you surprise me enough," Gaia said, stepping back a bit.

"I saw your fight against the Titans; it was impressive; your training with that Shinto goddess certainly paid off."

If Damon was surprised that Gaia knew about Amaterasu, he didn't show it. Already assuming that if one would need permission to enter another pantheon, it would be logical that the primordials themselves would grant permission to this one, as Kronos would never. Also, Gaia was the earth itself; it would be hard to hide from her.

"I'm just here to give you a little gift," she said, touching Damon's shoulder.

Damon felt a warm, deep pulse, as if something ancient had awakened inside his chest. In the blink of an eye, the world opened up to him: he sensed life miles away, the breathing of animals among the trees, the faint heartbeat of insects in the grass, roots moving beneath the earth like living veins. And besides that… the power. Invisible currents of natural energy flowed everywhere, wrapping around the battlefield, seeping into every rock, and every leaf.

He stood still, astonished, almost overwhelmed by the avalanche of sensations.

Gaia watched him, noticing the doubt in his eyes.

"I've given you my blessing. With it, you'll be able to feel many things… and absorb energy from nature more easily. You might not know how to use it now, but in time you will learn. Use it wisely."

Damon took a deep breath, trying to organize that new "sense" that still vibrated within him.

"Thank you…," he said sincerely. "I'll return the favor someday. If you ever need me… I'll be there."

Gaia smiled, as if that promise intrigued her. And just like that, she said disappear.

Damon remained there staring where the primordial had been a moment ago with a smile, "Haha… I guess I have a primordial in my pocket."
