Chapter 20 - Episode 20: Deepening Love

The days after the storm in Abeokuta felt like the first real breath in months.

Shemmy woke up in Daevyd's Lekki apartment to sunlight streaming through the curtains. No fear of checking her phone. No dread of new videos or threats. Just quiet.

The notifications were different now supportive messages, brand inquiries, fans saying "You two are goals," and even a few apologies from people who had dragged them online.

Daevyd was already up, in the kitchen making tea. His tall slim frame moved with a lightness that had been missing for weeks. Chocolate skin glowing in the morning light as he hummed a low tune.

Good morning my queen he said, smiling as she walked in.

Shemmy wrapped her arms around him from behind.

Good morning.

He turned and kissed her softly.

No more pretending he whispered.

No more she replied.

They sat on the balcony with their tea.

The city hummed below, alive but no longer threatening.

Shemmy leaned against him.

I want to start fresh she said. A new collection. Bold. Curvy. Powerful. No more hiding who I am.

Daevyd nodded.

And I want TechWave to reflect us. Community features. Support for creatives. A place where people can build without fear.

They spent the morning planning.

Shemmy pulled out her sketchbook.

She drew quickly, bold lines, curvy silhouettes, fabrics that celebrated the body.

Daevyd watched, mesmerized.

You are incredible he said.

She smiled.

We are incredible.

That afternoon Ruth came over with wine.

To new beginnings she said raising her glass.

They clinked.

To love that survives Shemmy added.

To love that fights Daevyd said.

To us Ruth finished.

They talked late into the night.

Ruth told stories about her latest client disaster, a bride who changed her mind about the dress three times on the wedding day.

Shemmy laughed until her stomach hurt.

Daevyd watched her. Proud. In love.

Later, when Ruth left, they sat on the balcony again.

The city lights felt softer tonight.

Shemmy leaned against him.

I want to build with you she said.

Daevyd smiled.

We will.

He pulled her closer.

They kissed under the stars.

Deep.

Emotional.

No rush.

No pressure.

Just them.

The next few days passed in a gentle rhythm.

Daevyd worked with his lawyer.

The lawsuit weakened further.

Nadia's pregnancy claim collapsed publicly when her doctor released a statement: no visit, no test, no pregnancy.

The fake photo was traced to a cheap editing app.

Online the narrative shifted.

People called Nadia and Tunde out.

Brands messaged Shemmy again.

Investors returned.

One evening they walked along the same beach where the viral kiss happened.

No cameras this time.

Just them.

Daevyd stopped.

Semilore he said.

She looked up.

He pulled her close.

I want forever with you he said.

Shemmy smiled.

I want that too.

They kissed as the sun set.

The waves rolled in gently.

The past was fading.

The future was bright.

But in the quiet moments, they knew.

The fight was not over.

Tunde was still out there.

Nadia was still hurting.

But together.

They were unstoppable.
