Chapter 21 - Elements

Today was our magic class, and all of us were already seated in our places, waiting. The room was filled with low murmurs—until suddenly, the sound of footsteps echoed through the classroom.

The door opened.

Professor Sophia walked in.

Without wasting a second, she placed a glowing crystal ball on the desk in front of her. A faint magical aura surrounded it.

"Today," she said calmly, "I will be checking your magic elements—what you have unlocked so far."

The entire class went silent.

"I will call your names one by one. Come forward, place your hand on the crystal, and I will determine your element."

Soon, she called out the first name.

"Felix Ward."

Ray turned slightly, and I followed his gaze. Felix stood up and walked forward confidently. He placed his hand on the crystal—and instantly, a soft light appeared.

Professor Sophia observed carefully.

"Your element… is Reflection."

Reflection?

I frowned, completely confused.

Before I could ask, Ray leaned toward me.

"You don't even know this?" he whispered.

I sighed. "Bro, I'm only good with a katana. Don't expect magic knowledge from me."

Ray smirked and explained, "Reflection works like a mirror. Users can reflect attacks back at their opponents—like how sunlight reflects."

I blinked.

That actually sounded… cool.

Meanwhile, Felix grinned proudly as the professor explained his ability.

One by one, the students were called.

"Freya Collins — Poison.""Kio Mortis — Wind.""Nico Vance — Thread."

Then came—

"Noah Winter — Ice."

The moment he heard it, Noah smirked arrogantly.

"Looks like the future Magic Knight Captain is already decided," he said. "You all are just wasting time here."

The atmosphere turned tense.

Ray clicked his tongue. "Shut your mouth and sit down."

Noah's expression twisted in anger. Without warning, his hand transformed into a sharp ice spike as he launched an attack at Ray.

But Ray didn't even flinch.

Flames erupted from his hand as he caught Noah's attack mid-air. The ice began melting instantly.

Ray's voice turned cold.

"Go back to your seat."

Noah gritted his teeth… but stepped back.

Soon, it was Ray's turn.

The moment he placed his hand on the crystal, even Professor Sophia looked slightly surprised.

"Ray… you can use two elements. Fire and Lightning."

The class was shocked.

But Ray?

He didn't look happy at all.

And I knew exactly why.

More names followed.

"Alina Moonveil — Gravity."She looked nervous the entire time.

"Alex Ravenor — Mud."

The moment I heard that, me and Ray exchanged glances.

So it was him—the one who tried to trap us in the swamp.

Then…

"Leo Black."

I stood up and walked forward.

Placing my hand on the crystal, I waited.

A second passed.Then another.

Nothing happened.

Professor Sophia looked at me and said,

"You haven't unlocked any element."

Silence.

And then

Laughter.

The entire class started mocking me.

I slowly turned around, my eyes cold.

"If anyone wants to laugh," I said, "come fight me."

Before things could escalate, thak!—

Professor hit me on the head.

"No fighting in class, Leo."

I clicked my tongue and went back to my seat.

"Last student—Nyra Velmire."

I looked back.

A girl quietly reading a book.

She didn't even seem interested.

"Oh… is it my turn?" she said casually before walking forward.

Before the professor could even say anything, she placed her hand on the crystal.

A strange energy flickered.

Professor Sophia's expression changed.

"Nyra… your element is—"

But before she could finish—

Nyra had already turned around and walked back to her seat… continuing to read her book like nothing happened.

"…Nature," the professor finally said.

The room fell silent.

Every one of you is talented… don't waste it .The professor said calmly

Then suddenly—

Kio stood up.

But Leo doesn't have any element. How is he talented. Kio said

My fists clenched.

"You wanna fight?"

"LEO."Professor's voice shut me down instantly.

"Kio, apologize."

"…Sorry," he muttered before sitting down.

Just then—

The classroom door opened again.

And this time—

It was Principal Valeria Stormhaven.

She walked in with a calm smile.

"So, have you identified their elements?"

"Yes," Professor Sophia replied. "They are all quite talented."

Valeria paused for a moment… then smiled slightly.

"In that case… why don't we hold a battle tomorrow?"

The entire class froze.

A battle.

My lips slowly curled into a smile.

Now I'll settle things with Kio.

Beside me, Ray sighed.

He already knew.

I was about to do something reckless.
