Itachi slowly rose to his feet and spoke calmly:
"I never expected you to have broken the Mangekyō Sharingan's side effects."
His tone shifted—still unwilling to let go.
"But! Sasuke, what you've overcome is only one aspect of the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan. The Eternal Mangekyō isn't merely the sum of two pairs of Mangekyō. It grants power that stands at the pinnacle of the shinobi world! Don't you understand, Sasuke?!"
"The pinnacle of the shinobi world, huh? Interesting."
For a brief moment, hope flickered in Itachi's heart.
Then Sasuke's next words extinguished it completely.
Sasuke's expression turned grave.
"Maybe the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan truly can grant power at the summit of the shinobi world."
"But I refuse."
"I've already rejected the path you laid out for me. If I were to take your eyes to obtain the Eternal Mangekyō, wouldn't that make me a walking contradiction?"
Itachi's composure cracked.
"Sasuke! Do you even understand what you're saying? Stop being stubborn! In this world, power is everything! If you reject the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan, one day you'll watch your comrades die before your eyes—and you'll regret it when you're powerless to save them!"
Sasuke replied coldly:
"Of course I understand that."
"Then let me ask you something. Do you know that the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan can evolve even further?"
"…?!"
Itachi was completely caught off guard.
The look on his face said it all.
Sasuke continued calmly:
"I can see from your expression that you didn't know."
"So how can you be so certain that the Eternal Mangekyō is the pinnacle of the shinobi world?"
"Enough talk. Let our hands decide."
"Blaze Release: Kagutsuchi — Flying Flame!"
Sasuke coated the Sword of Kusanagi in black flames and swung in a wide arc, releasing a crescent slash of Amaterasu-infused fire.
"Amaterasu — Phoenix Flower Claw Crimson!"
Itachi ignited Amaterasu first, then infused multiple shuriken with black flames before launching them forward.
Just as the black-flame slash collided with the blazing shuriken—
Sasuke's left eye flared.
"Vaiśravaṇa— Amplify: Triple Output."
The slash instantly tripled in size, speed, and destructive force.
The empowered black-flame arc tore through the flaming shuriken and continued toward Itachi.
"Sasuke's dōjutsu…?"
There was no dodging it.
Forced into defense, Itachi activated both Mangekyō simultaneously.
A crimson skeletal frame materialized around him.
Muscle and sinew formed over the bones—
Then a cloak of chakra enveloped the construct.
"Susanoo."
The black-flame slash crashed against Itachi's Susanoo with tremendous force.
When the flames dispersed, the Susanoo remained intact—
But Itachi had been pushed back a full step.
"Impressive power…"
"So you've finally brought it out? Susanoo. Good."
Sasuke activated both eyes as well.
"Susanoo."
A massive purple chakra warrior manifested around him, mirroring Itachi's form.
The battlefield trembled.
Now—
The battle between Susanoo had begun.
