Although the boys in the classroom had all indulged in fantasies when they first saw Nagi—dreaming of a romantic encounter—
Nagi mercilessly shattered those fantasies. The boys all lowered their heads in disappointment.
Hinata, meanwhile, watched Nagi walk over with a cheerful smile.
"Oh my, why did you have to emphasize that last part?"
"Who do you think it was because of—… sigh, never mind."
Nagi thought about it and realized it actually had nothing to do with Hinata.
Next up was Naruko. As soon as she stepped forward, the students below immediately burst into applause.
After all, she was the daughter of the Fourth Hokage, and combined with her adorable appearance, Naruko's popularity was only natural.
"Hello everyone, my name is Naruko Uzumaki. My favorite foods are ramen, grilled fish, and omurice…"
As she said this, she glanced at Nagi before continuing:
"My dream for the future is to become a Hokage who surpasses all those before me. Please take care of me from now on!"
After finishing, Naruko gave a playful wink.
"Yeah!"
"We believe you can do it, Naruko!"
"Absolutely!"
As the Hokage's daughter, everyone believed Naruko would achieve it.
After everyone finished their introductions, Iruka Umino explained the curriculum and rules for the semester.
Soon, it was time for the lunch break.
Everyone took out the bento they had brought from home.
Naruko opened the lunchbox made by Kushina Uzumaki, while Nagi took out the one he had prepared himself. Hinata placed a luxurious three-tier bento on the table—made by the servants of the Hyūga Clan.
Nagi couldn't help feeling curious.
He wondered how she had even brought it in—without a sealing scroll, that bento box was much bigger than the bag she carried.
Hinata opened the three boxes and arranged them neatly on the desk. Then she pulled out a huge container of rice.
"So those three boxes were just the side dishes…"
The entire classroom was stunned by the sheer amount of food in Hinata's lunch.
Hinata, however, was already used to such looks. She calmly picked up a large steak and started eating.
Nagi opened his own bento.
A rich and tempting aroma instantly spread through the air.
Hinata's hand, which had been about to grab an abalone, froze in midair.
Not only her—every student nearby stopped eating. Chopsticks and forks hung motionless as they stared straight at Nagi.
By now, Nagi had grown accustomed to such looks. He simply picked up a piece of fish and put it into his mouth.
Watching him eat, the other students couldn't help swallowing.
It must be delicious… It must smell amazing…
Though they weren't sure whether it was the food that looked appetizing—or the way Nagi ate it.
Hinata coughed softly and asked:
"Um… Nagi, could we trade something?"
Nagi nodded.
"Sure."
"Hehe, great! Let's trade the fried shrimp."
Hinata happily exchanged her shrimp for Nagi's.
Nagi, meanwhile, stared in confusion at the massive Australian lobster that now sat in his bento—far bigger than his entire lunchbox.
Hinata eagerly picked up Nagi's fried shrimp and put it into her mouth.
With a light bite—
The crispy batter cracked pleasantly.
The shrimp meat inside was tender and juicy.
A burst of rich seafood flavor spread through her mouth.
For some strange reason, Hinata suddenly imagined Nagi wearing a lobster costume in her mind.
Her cheeks instantly turned red.
She stomped her foot, slapped the table lightly, and then gave Nagi a big thumbs-up.
"Delicious!"
"Is… that so? I'm… glad you like it."
Nagi was still chewing the lobster Hinata had given him.
After he swallowed, Hinata said sincerely,
"The dishes you make are the best I've ever eaten."
Nagi looked puzzled.
"Hm? How did you know I made it? Was it because I said I like cooking?"
Hinata shook her head with a gentle smile.
"No. Because food doesn't lie."
Naruko also wanted to trade a side dish with Nagi.
But today Kushina had packed omurice, and Naruko was using a spoon.
Although Naruko was usually carefree, the thought of Nagi using her spoon in front of everyone made her feel embarrassed.
So in the end, she didn't ask.
Discussion Outside the Screen
Ino Yamanaka: "Uh… Hinata, you…"
Sakura Haruno: "You've got quite the appetite."
Ōnoki: "At five years old she eats more in one meal than I do in several. No wonder Nagi said she's always hungry. With that kind of appetite, her future strength definitely won't be weak."
Chōza Akimichi: "Ah, we're getting old. Our era is over."
Kushina Uzumaki: "Why did the me in that world make omurice?! Such a great opportunity wasted!"
Minato Namikaze: "Um… Kushina, Naruko is still too young."
Kushina Uzumaki: "Minato! At this rate, the Hinata in that world is going to leave Naruko far behind. Our Naruko is already falling behind the other girls!"
Minato Namikaze: "..."
Back to the Screen
That afternoon, Iruka lectured the class about the history of the Ninja Academy and the structure of the ninja system.
Most of the students listened attentively.
Except for a few.
Iruka carefully controlled his strength and flicked a piece of chalk—hitting Shikamaru Nara, who was secretly eating snacks.
"Shikamaru, pay attention."
Shikamaru scratched the back of his head and laughed sheepishly.
"Hehe, sorry… I got hungry."
"And Shino! Why are there so many insecticides on your desk?!"
Sure enough, Shino Aburame's desk was covered with insect spray bottles. There were even two pots of Venus flytraps.
Shino pushed up his sunglasses calmly.
"Sensei, enemies can appear anywhere. We must always be prepared for defense."
"Kiba, stop licking your arm…"
After warning them, Iruka continued the lesson.
After School
When Hinata returned home, she pushed open the door with both hands.
"I'm home, old man!"
Hiashi Hyūga didn't mind at all. With a warm smile, he hurried over to ask about her day.
Hinata's mother, however, sighed helplessly.
"Hinata, no matter what, a girl should behave a bit more elegantly."
"Yeah, yeah, I know."
Hinata waved her hand dismissively. Whether she actually listened was another matter.
She walked over to her mother—more precisely, to the baby in her arms.
Hanabi Hyūga.
"Gyaah~ gyaah~"
Hanabi reached out toward Hinata, clearly asking to be held.
Hinata gently scraped the little girl's nose, then pinched her cheeks.
After Dinner
Once dinner was over, a servant brewed tea for the three of them before leaving.
Hinata held her teacup and savored it slowly.
Hiashi asked from the side,
"How was school today, Hinata? What about your teachers and classmates? What lessons did you have?"
Hinata replied lazily,
"School life and the teachers are just so-so. As for classmates…"
A smile appeared on her face.
"I did meet an interesting guy. He's pretty nice—and he's amazing at cooking. That flavor is still lingering in my mind."
Hearing that his daughter had apparently made a friend, Hiashi felt pleased.
"Oh? That must be a very wonderful girl then."
"It's a boy. And he cares a lot about that point."
Crack.
The moment Hiashi heard the word boy, his heart shattered.
Veins bulged on his forehead as he forced a smile.
"Hinata seems to care quite a bit about that boy."
Hinata took a sip of tea.
"Not really. Oh, and don't go secretly investigating or bothering him."
She added calmly,
"Otherwise I'll tell Mom where you hide your secret stash of money."
Hiashi's shoulders slumped weakly.
