Chapter 192 - Kakashi’s Matchmaking Story

[Orochimaru: …]

Well… now it's my turn.

[Jiraiya: Th-This… this is Orochimaru!?]

[Tsunade: You're kidding, right? But—HAHAHAHA! Orochimaru, that expression really suits you. My, I never expected someone as… gender-indifferent as you to care so much about the romantic lives of the younger generation.]

[Orochimaru: How boring. That person isn't me.]

[Tsunade: Hahaha, I get it now. That Orochimaru must simply value life from a different perspective. But that matchmaker expression… pfft—HAHAHAHA! I'm going to die laughing.]

[Orochimaru: …]

The screen continues…

Shizuka said in surprise,

"That's Lord Orochimaru, one of the Legendary Sannin?"

"Yep."

Naruko nodded.

"Mr. Orochimaru just happened to be nearby on a mission, so we told him the truth about this mission."

"The truth?"

"Exactly."

Sakura then began explaining how everything started.

The Cause of the Incident

During the Chūnin Exams, Hanare had come to Konoha to visit.

Her main purpose, however, was to see Kakashi.

At first she didn't know the way. After asking several villagers, she got a rough address.

Near Kakashi's house, she happened to meet a red-haired woman.

After explaining why she had come, the woman enthusiastically guided her to Kakashi's home.

After the Chūnin Exams ended, however, Kakashi found Hanare's enthusiasm a little overwhelming.

So he… ran away in the name of youth.

When Kushina found out about this, she became quite angry.

Damn it.

A childhood friend AND a sudden romantic arrival who clearly likes you—and you treat her this casually?!

So Kushina publicly issued a mission to escort Hanare back to her village.

But secretly, she informed Keyfront Village and Naruko's group that Kakashi would actually be going to a matchmaking meeting.

Of course, Naruko and the others couldn't possibly hide the truth from Kakashi.

Kakashi carefully probed them with indirect questions and clever traps until he eventually confirmed the mission's real purpose:

He was being sent to a matchmaking date.

So Kakashi planned to escort Hanare back and immediately return to Konoha with Naruko's team.

But halfway through the journey—

they encountered Orochimaru, who had just finished his own mission.

The moment Orochimaru learned about the situation, Kakashi realized:

There was no escaping now.

After all—

everyone has a curiosity for gossip.

Now that Nagi and the others understood the situation, they became interested as well.

So they all focused on the display screen.

The elderly woman began introducing Hanare to Orochimaru and Kakashi.

Hanare looked somewhat shy.

Meanwhile, Orochimaru spoke like an enthusiastic matchmaker, praising both Kakashi and Hanare.

As they chatted, they enjoyed the meal together.

After a while—

"Ahem. From here on, it's time for you young people. We won't disturb you any longer."

With that, Orochimaru and the elderly woman left the room.

However, the camera remained.

Everyone outside noticed something interesting—

a small snake tail constantly swaying at the edge of the screen.

They immediately realized:

The "camera" was actually a small snake controlled by Orochimaru.

With Kakashi and Hanare's current abilities, detecting such a specially modified snake would be extremely difficult.

Hanare spoke first.

"Kakashi… I'm really sorry for making you accompany me like this. I didn't know it was a matchmaking meeting at first."

Kakashi shook his head.

"It's fine. This was all arranged by my teacher's wife."

"If anything, I should be the one apologizing."

Hanare nervously twisted a strand of her hair, her cheeks flushed.

"Um… Kakashi."

"What do you think of the clothes I'm wearing today?"

Kakashi nodded.

"They look beautiful. They suit you very well."

"Thank you. But the kimono you're wearing today suits you even better. You look very handsome."

Outside the courtyard…

"Hmm… the atmosphere seems pretty good. Kakashi-sensei is doing surprisingly well."

Sakura watched the screen and sighed.

"Ah! They're looking out the window together."

"Look! Big Sister Hanare just stepped closer to Kakashi-sensei."

"She stepped closer again!"

"..."

"Wow! Hanare's head is resting on Kakashi-sensei's shoulder!"

"Incredible!"

Everyone watching outside was enjoying the gossip immensely.

"Ah! They're coming out!"

"Quick—hide!"

As soon as the words were spoken—

Nagi used the Flying Thunder God Technique, teleporting everyone a short distance away.

Once hidden, they continued watching the drama unfold.

Hanare and Kakashi walked side by side while chatting.

The atmosphere was surprisingly pleasant.

Until suddenly—

A small dog suddenly burst through the courtyard fence.

"Kakashi! The bones here are too—mmph!"

Everyone recognized it instantly.

It was Kakashi's summoning dog Pakkun.

After smelling Kakashi's scent, Pakkun had rushed straight toward him.

But he used too much force jumping over the fence—

and crashed directly into Kakashi's left leg.

Kakashi had just lifted his right leg—

but when Pakkun slammed into his left leg, he lost his balance.

And fell forward—

straight onto Hanare.

"AAAAAH!!!" ×n

The girls screamed excitedly.

Nagi, meanwhile, looked at Kakashi with sympathy.

On the screen—

just like in the original story—

their first kiss happened by accident.

At the same time, Kakashi unintentionally discovered Hanare's Eye Mark Technique (Dōin).

Realizing what had happened, Kakashi immediately got up.

"Um… that wasn't intentional."

Hanare blushed and replied softly,

"I know."

"But… if it had been intentional, I would have been very happy."

"!?"

"You noticed the secret of my eyes too, didn't you?"

"That can't be something people learn casually."

"But as compensation…"

"Have dinner with me tonight."

"…Alright."

Evening

Naruko and the others said,

"Ahem… Kakashi-sensei, we'll have dinner with Nagi's team instead."

"Yeah, yeah! Don't worry about us."

"You two can enjoy your time together."

"..."

Kakashi's attempt to drag Naruko's team along to dinner—

failed completely.

So in the end, Kakashi and Hanare had dinner alone together.

The Next Day

Sakura and the others secretly handed the recording tape to Orochimaru—who had to leave early—while Kakashi wasn't looking.

Hanare reluctantly said goodbye to Kakashi.

Kakashi promised,

"I'll visit again someday."

Then he left with Naruko's team.

On the road back, Sakura and the others pretended they knew nothing about the matchmaking meeting and asked Kakashi what happened yesterday.

Kakashi calmly insisted that nothing had happened.

But Naruko and the others quietly snickered.

And so—

the International Exchange Class and Team Seven chatted and laughed all the way back to Konohagakure.
