It's barely dawn when Isabelle slams open Chris's bedroom door and turns on the light.
He wakes with a start, but not because of the light or the door — it's the deafening noise of Isabelle banging two metal pot lids together.
She's wearing an olive-green tank top, camouflage pants, and heavy leather boots.
"W-What the fuck is going on?!" he mutters, alarmed.
As soon as the confusion from the brutal wake-up fades, he realizes he's completely naked. Zaira is too, fast asleep and clinging to him, her head resting on his chest.
He had already forgotten about the night of wild sex and how he'd fallen asleep holding Zaira.
"I-Isabelle, I can explain… i-it's not what it looks like!"
"There's nothing to explain! What my troops do off duty is none of my business!"
