"As you probably figured out, I'm not the kind of person who likes owing people anything. So tomorrow afternoon I'm paying you back for the drink you got me last week."
That's what Kimberly told me yesterday after school. And as if that wasn't enough...
"...I still haven't decided where to go, so here's my number. We can figure it out later for tomorrow."
Getting a girl's phone number isn't exactly a huge deal. But when the girl is someone like Kimberly, it definitely feels like a win.
At this point, I just hope all this waiting and effort are worth it.
For our date, Kimberly picks Gantry Plaza State Park in Long Island City, just a short walk from the Church of the God of Light, where Naomi and I followed her a few weeks ago.
Calling the place a bar would be giving it way too much credit. It's a total dump.
But in the end, the company is what really matters. Right?
