Chapter 58 - Praise the Fool, Return to Marvel

Vought International and Homelander were annihilated together in the sudden nuclear strike.

The rampage of the emerging super antihero—Super Deadpool—who roamed the globe igniting nuclear warheads, plunged every nation into panic.

Yes, so far only one of America's "little lapdogs" had been sacrificed.

But who could guarantee the next warhead wouldn't fall on their own soil?

Amid this chaos—

The once-legendary apex hero, Soldier Boy, miraculously returned and defeated Super Deadpool.

Of course, that entire narrative had been written, directed, and performed by Leon himself.

All to secure sufficient moral legitimacy for his next grand undertaking:

The Superhuman Complementation Project.

America

Sixty kilometers from the ruins of Vought Tower stood a newly constructed headquarters:

Judicator League Tower.

Having resumed his identity as Soldier Boy, Leon now worked hand-in-hand with U.S. federal authorities—whom he had thoroughly brought under control—to screen superhumans capable of bearing the responsibility of judging their own kind.

Never again would there be another uncontrollable antihero catastrophe like Super Deadpool.

Thus, under the proposal and captaincy of Soldier Boy (Leon), with founding members Queen Maeve and Starlight, and backed officially by the U.S. government (providing funding, manpower, and public legitimacy)—

A new superhuman organization was born:

The Judicator League

To facilitate future Daily Sign-Ins, Leon personally handled recruitment—screening promising candidates as probationary members.

Leon's Office

He interviewed only one candidate per day.

Day after day, superhumans of all kinds entered and exited.

Marie Moreau (from Gen V), possessing hemokinetic blood-manipulation abilities—

Sign-In Reward: A pack of sanitary pads.

She was dismissed within seconds.

Jordan Li (from Gen V), capable of gender transformation—

Leon chose not to attempt a Sign-In. Instead, he kept Jordan in the office for three hours, discussing the future direction of the superhero academy.

After all—

What if a split personality manifested like the Void in Sentry?

Or what if prolonged exposure led to some subconscious shift in self-identity?

Leon was not taking that risk.

Cate Dunlap (from Gen V), telepath and mind-controller—

She triggered a Gold-tier reward, but it turned out to be Mental Control Immunity, which Leon had already obtained from Mindstorm.

Duplicate abilities were useless. The System had already maxed it out, literally.

Still, as recognition for her "contribution" to superhuman sustainability, Leon kept her for a three-hour conversation.

Then there was Victoria Neuman…

After processing every named character from the original storyline, Leon continued signing in on lesser-known supers.

It was as if he'd been cursed.

Nothing worthwhile appeared.

"Shit!"

"Nothing but garbage!"

In frustration—double meaning intended—Leon flipped his desk.

After regaining composure, he spoke through his Bluetooth link to Arcee, who was still rounding up stragglers.

"Is that all of them?"

"Yes, Leon," Arcee replied. "99.9% of all known superhumans responded voluntarily to your call, hoping to secure a position in the newly formed Seven—Judicator League."

"And the remaining 0.1%? I want all of them."

"The only fugitive left is a black woman known as 'The Sage.'"

"The Sage?"

"Yes. It appears she sensed something the night you, as Soldier Boy, killed Crimson Countess. She went into hiding immediately."

Leon smirked.

"Interesting."

"Send me her last known coordinates. I don't believe in disappearing acts."

Moments later, the data appeared on his screen.

He glanced at it once—

Then shot upward through the open lattice dome of his office ceiling.

One Week Later

After a full week of carpet-bombing the area with his own search efforts, Leon circled back—

To a refugee relief station near Judicator League Tower.

Descending like a god, he was greeted by cheers and chants of his name.

He ignored them.

Instead, he grabbed a white teenage girl receiving bread and bottled water—

—and launched into the sky.

Seconds later, atop the League's rooftop—

He threw her down, shattered both her legs with a shield strike, and looked down coldly.

"Overnight reconstruction. Skin pigmentation altered from Black to White. Facial structure, musculature, skeletal frame—fully reshaped."

"And then you hid right under my nose."

"You're impressive."

"So tell me—why were you hiding from me?"

"B-Because…" she gasped, face twisted in pain. "My super-brain told me… you would probably kill me."

Despite her agony, her gaze remained unnervingly deep.

Convincing.

Intimidating, even.

"Oh?"

Leon stepped forward and placed a hand atop her head.

[Prompt: Proceed with today's Daily Sign-In?]

"I hear the echo of intellect," Leon murmured inwardly.

"Do it."

"The Fool, huh?"

"Interesting."

This was Leon's first buff-type ability.

Powerful—if one ignored the small drawback of sacrificing intelligence.

"System… is it possible for my Intelligence to go negative?"

[… … …]

The System did not respond.

Something to test later.

For now—

Leon turned back to The Sage.

"If you'd come voluntarily, no matter what I think about Black people, why would I ever harm my own?"

"So tell me—did your super-brain foresee your death today?"

"I—I—"

Under the crushing pressure of imminent death, she broke—stammering incoherently.

"Guess you're not that smart."

Leon smiled—that familiar, radiant smile.

Golden light flared in his palm.

Boom.

A powerful shockwave detonated her super-brain instantly.

To prevent any "phoenix-from-the-ashes" scenarios, Leon followed with precise Heat Vision sterilization.

Only when she was reduced entirely to particulate ash did he relax.

Unstable minds were liabilities.

And thus—

Leon's Superhuman Complementation Project came to an end.

Though "The Fool" was the only noteworthy gain, its scaling potential alone made the endeavor worthwhile.

More than worthwhile.

Aftermath

After several days of final briefings with Queen Maeve and Starlight, Leon felt a faint intuition—

Tony might be in trouble.

"System. It's time to return."

[Notice: Host will now return to the Marvel Universe.]

"Wait."

"If I want to come back later—business trip, exchange program—how does that work?"

[What is long remembered shall echo again.]

"…That explains nothing."

"And what about time? What if I don't pull another Boys World Travel Card for centuries? I'll be fine—but my friends will be dust."

Perhaps one day Leon would be strong enough to break dimensional walls freely.

But what if not?

[You are both the end and the beginning.]

"…Good enough. Return."

BOOM.

Leon reached into his pocket and touched the vials of permanent Compound V he had prepared for Tony and the others.

Then—

He knocked himself unconscious with a decisive self-inflicted blow.

If he blacked out fast enough, the System's ambush could never outpace him.

That—

Was the resolve of The Fool.
