Chapter 53 - Chapter 53: The Goddess’s Kiss — Sasha’s Broken Heart

Sasha thought to herself: This old fox really knows how to exploit loopholes in wording.

Eren fell silent for a moment, unsure how to respond. Even now, he still hadn't fully understood what exactly was going on.

Lowering his head, Eren remained quiet for a while. His eyes showed deep struggle. Finally, he spoke firmly:

"I… I'll do it! I don't know if I can seal that hole, but I'll give it everything I've got!"

Seeing this, Chen Si felt somewhat relieved. The breach in the wall was enormous. Without modern industrial capabilities, there was no way it could simply be repaired. They could only rely on the power of Titans.

As for Chen Si doing it himself? Killing people was one thing, but moving bricks and rebuilding walls—he had no talent for that.

"I look forward to seeing what you young soldiers can accomplish. Humanity's fate rests in your hands."

Pixis solemnly addressed Chen Si, Eren, and the others.

Chen Si's expression also became serious. He knew well how many hopes and expectations the soldiers and civilians had placed on the plan to reclaim the city.

Just before they left the wall, Pixis suddenly ran over and angrily whispered into Chen Si's ear:

"When you get good wine again, add another two hundred bottles!"

Without even looking at him, Pixis turned around and left.

Chen Si sighed helplessly. What can I do? I'll just have to loot more from Marley in the future.

As Chen Si walked past Rico, he suddenly said:

"Actually, you're pretty good-looking. If you took off your glasses and stuffed a bit of cotton around your chest, you'd look even better."

Rico's face immediately turned bright red with anger. Steam practically rose from her head as she prepared to use her combat techniques to throw Chen Si to the ground.

But Chen Si had already sprinted far away.

"Commander, this plan is full of uncertainty. We're placing our hopes on just a few new recruits. This is—"

Rico tried to persuade Pixis after calming down.

She truly felt that Eren and the others were unreliable—especially Chen Si. He disregarded military discipline, ignored regulations, and constantly showed disrespect toward his superiors. Absolutely infuriating.

Pixis raised a hand to interrupt her.

Gazing at the distant town, he slowly said:

"In the past, when we couldn't see even a sliver of hope, we were still willing to march forward and make enormous sacrifices. Now that hope has finally appeared—are we suddenly too afraid to try?"

Hearing this, Rico sighed inwardly. She knew his mind was made up, so she said nothing more.

"I just hope they can live up to the sacrifices we've made."

After coming down from the wall, many soldiers greeted Chen Si.

The trainees from the 104th Cadet Corps were extremely excited to see him, rushing over to thank him.

Some soldiers from the Garrison Regiment, however, avoided him like the plague.

Chen Si didn't mind.

Before long, he ran into a familiar figure with bandages wrapped around his leg.

"Trut!" Chen Si greeted him.

"What happened to you? Looking pretty rough—you're not doing so well."

Trut forced a bitter smile.

"Chen Si."

"I heard you achieved incredible results. Your fight with the Colossal Titan—people inside the walls are all talking about it. Once you join the Military Police, you'll be a big shot."

Chen Si laughed.

"That's nothing. Besides, I'm planning to join the Survey Corps."

"The Survey Corps?" Trut exclaimed. "You know that's the regiment with the highest death rate!"

Chen Si didn't respond directly. Instead, he glanced around.

"You're a squad vice-captain, right? Why are you alone?"

Trut lowered his head.

"My entire squad was wiped out… I'm the only one left. Even the squad leader died."

Chen Si sighed but said nothing. In war, such things were common.

"Come with me. Let's grab a drink. Didn't you say before that we should drink together sometime?"

"Sure," Trutt replied with a faint smile. "I heard headquarters is about to launch the operation to retake Trost District. Who knows how many chances we'll get to drink after that."

"Don't say depressing things like that. With me around, what's there to be afraid of?" Chen Si said casually.

Trutt simply smiled without replying.

"Chen Si!"

In the distance, a beautiful blonde girl with blue eyes ran toward him, her face flushed red.

"The queen?" Chen Si said in surprise. Why is she in such a hurry to find me?

Queen? Trutt inwardly complained. Young people these days really know how to play.

"Chen Si! You're safe—that's great!"

Krista ran around him, checking carefully to make sure he wasn't injured.

"What's wrong, Krista? In such a hurry—did you miss me?" Chen Si teased, leaning close to her delicate white neck and breathing lightly.

Krista's face instantly turned crimson, even her pale neck faintly pink.

"Stop it! This is important."

Hearing that, Chen Si became serious.

"Looks like we won't be having that drink today," Trut said with a laugh.

"Yeah… seems like it," Chen Si replied awkwardly.

Krista also gave Trutt an apologetic glance.

Looking around to ensure no one was listening, she pulled Chen Si under the eaves of a nearby building.

"So what's going on? Why so mysterious?" Chen Si asked.

"Polino came to see me earlier," Krista said quietly, looking at him.

"Polino? Who's that?"

"He was in our training class—the one who failed the balance test and got eliminated."

"Oh, that count's son? Did he bring his father to cause trouble? If he wants to die that badly, I'll gladly help him."

Chen Si's anger flared.

"He didn't do anything to you, did he?" Chen Si asked anxiously.

Seeing his concern, Krista felt a sudden warmth in her heart and quickly shook her head.

"I'm fine. He just wants your help. He asked me to pass the message to you."

"What? He wants my help?" Chen Si was baffled.

Krista leaned close and whispered something into his ear.

As Chen Si listened, his brow slowly furrowed.

"'Maiden Shoulder Strap'… heh. So they've finally appeared."

Chen Si immediately realized that such a bizarre, anime-like name couldn't possibly belong to someone from this world.

How troublesome… People like this who disrupt my foreknowledge should be eliminated as soon as possible.

A faint killing intent flashed in his eyes.

"Take me to see him," Chen Si said.

"Okay!" Krista eagerly grabbed his arm—but he didn't move.

"What's wrong?" she asked, tilting her head.

"I just remembered something."

Chen Si glanced around and grinned mischievously.

"What? W-what are you doing?" Krista stepped back slightly, her face turning red.

Chen Si stepped forward, lifted her flushed face, and suddenly kissed her.

His tongue slipped past her teeth as he pulled her into a deep kiss.

Krista struggled slightly at first, but under Chen Si's intense warmth, her legs gradually weakened.

Clumsily, she began to respond.

A tingling sensation spread through her body. Her eyes half-closed, almost dreamy.

"Chen Si, you're back! Chen—"

Sasha walked out of a fruit stall, holding several apples in her arms.

When she saw the scene before her, her jaw practically hit the ground.

Nooo… the goddess has been defiled…
