The Guardians of the Trenches :
The team engaged their thrusters, hovering at the mouth of the underwater cavern. Sorel deployed a series of sonic depth-charges, the vibrations echoing through the abyss to keep the creatures at bay. "They aren't just scavengers," Toek radioed, his voice trembling as he watched the creatures arrange the gold coins in a perfect circle around the wreckage. "They are ritualistic. They're using the train as an altar."
Suddenly, the water temperature began to rise rapidly—an impossibility at such depths. The "Golden Glow" intensified, blinding their sensors. Out of the tunnel emerged the "Great Guardian," a leviathan five times the size of the demon Hinfirni had killed. Its skin was translucent, showing a heart that pulsed with liquid gold.
Arial realized the spikes on their suits wouldn't be enough this time. Using their specialized rifles, the team coordinated a "Star-Pattern" formation. They fired specialized nitrogen-freezing rounds into the water surrounding the beast, creating a cage of ice in the high-pressure environment. As the beast struggled, Hinfirni spotted James and Jessica Austin's carriage. Inside, nestled among the skeletons, was a glowing orb—the heart of the treasure. Realizing this "heart" was what summoned the monsters, the team made a split-second decision. They wouldn't take it; they would destroy it to break the curse. Jambo set the final bomb.
