Chapter 62 - Chapter 62: The Shadow of Phocylides

Right after Anacreon immediately closed the portal, he fell with his butt on the black planet. Near them were Liztawul and Garwhole. Sappho had just landed on the floor right after Anacreon opened the portal behind her.Anacreon did not know what to do; he had basically just told the enemies his plan. If Phocylides found out… the thought of it sent a shiver down his spine.

"Garwhole, we heard what you just said…" Liztawul was the first one to break the silence. After the krukins helped him, he was able to recover from all his injuries. Just a few krukins had the possibility to regenerate their skin; sadly, Liztawul was not one of them.

"Oh…" said Anacreon as he glanced around. Garwhole had an amused face, Liztawul was wondering why the hell this person was working with them, and Sappho lay on the ground, probably resting, though she was thinking that Anacreon should not have said that, he should have waited at least until they entered. Still, she felt grateful that he had saved her.

Suddenly, they heard some footsteps. Anacreon could only feel scared as he turned around. Garwhole and Liztawul turned towards him too, with serious faces. A really old man with long white hair had just arrived, it was Phocylides.

"Incessant," said Phocylides as he walked slowly towards the group. Anacreon felt extremely scared as he found himself right in front of Phocylides, who was smiling.

"Oh yeah, you see boss…" started to speak Anacreon, knowing that soon he would get extremely mad. "Well, I did it—" Anacreon began to speak with fear in his voice, but suddenly Phocylides kicked him really hard in the stomach. Anacreon spat some blood and dragged himself along the floor.

"I mean, the plan will not change, but at least we will be able to kill more of them," said Phocylides. After giving the kick to Anacreon, he returned to his usual tired expression. He then turned towards Sappho and started to walk toward her.

"So? Didn't you summon Abebus like I told you?" asked Phocylides as he leaned down near Sappho. Anacreon had just gotten up and moved closer to the group slowly, scared that the kick might arrive once again.

Sappho did not answer. "Tch, so annoying," said Phocylides as he grabbed Sappho's hair and lifted her up. In her mouth there were many parts of the planet; she had remained down on the floor so that she could eat them.

As Sappho noticed Phocylides in front of her, she immediately swallowed the rocks she had in her mouth. "Oh boss…" said she, wondering why he was grabbing her hair. Phocylides looked at her with an annoyed expression. "Did you not hear what I just told you?"

"Oh well, you see… the fight was harder than usual and I had to regain my strength…" answered Sappho, trying to justify herself. Phocylides gave her another annoyed look but decided to leave her on the ground without doing anything to her.

"I'm too tired to even get mad…" said Phocylides as he rubbed his eyes with his fingers. "How could you lose this fight if you used Abebus? Have you at least summoned him?" asked Phocylides for the second time.

"That guy? I told him to do like you said… but they were able to dodge his invisible attack!" started yelling Sappho. Phocylides was rarely wrong with his plans and tactics, most of them always worked, so it sounded strange for everyone there.

Phocylides heard what Sappho said and felt a bit shocked. He started to stare at the ground and stopped thinking. 'Mhmm, it should not be possible… his attacks were literally invisible, no one could dodge them,' thought he, wondering. Then suddenly, he started walking away.

"Incessant," was the last word he said before walking completely away. Everyone there felt more relieved after knowing that Phocylides had gone, especially Anacreon and Sappho.

"Ehi, now that I think about it, where did Eyrunik go?" asked Anacreon, noticing that the stone connected to Eyrunik's was still green.

"He's still in the battlefield," said a voice. As everyone turned towards it, they saw Mantblast, with a leg missing. Everyone at first felt shocked by what happened to him, but after noticing the look on his face, they understood that he had the time of his life during the fight.

In fact, while he returned to the black planet, helped by his bladekruk, he was always smiling and couldn't stop thinking about Allen and the fight he had.

"Guess I'll go get him, he's probably sleeping, especially after using all of his runes," said Garwhole as he started to fly towards Earth.

'Mhmm, he should have fought around here…' thought Garwhole as he glanced around in search of the spot where Eyrunik had fought. He then noticed a huge fissure on the ground where Eyrunik had battled and landed right next to it.

"Ehi, are you there, big small guy?" yelled Garwhole into the hole in the ground. Suddenly the whole ground under him shook, and after the shaking, Eyrunik's arm emerged from the ground. Garwhole, seeing that, could only smile. 'Guess these humans really thought they would be able to kill Eyrunik by doing absolutely nothing, hahah,' thought Garwhole, amused.

"Mhmm, I was sleeping. Is the fight already over?" asked Eyrunik with a tired voice. In fact, every time he activated the runes on his body, he usually felt really tired.

"Yes, it finished a long time ago. Did you have fun while fighting, little guy?" asked Garwhole, now wondering how Eyrunik saved himself after he fell down. "Yeah, honestly, I had a lot of fun!" answered Eyrunik after he fully woke up and got on his feet. Garwhole flew onto his right shoulder.

"Let's walk slower. I'm curious to know how you were able to save yourself; that hole seemed pretty deep," started speaking Garwhole as the two of them walked toward the black planet while it was now dark.

"It was simple. The moment the space was becoming too small, I smashed my hand on the ground and held on, that's when I fell asleep," answered Eyrunik as he walked really slowly. "Well then, good boy, you did a great job, so don't worry," said Garwhole as he patted his huge head.

"By the way, when will the next attack happen?" asked Eyrunik. "In like a month, but the children like Liztawul and you will stay at home; the older ones will take care of that," answered Garwhole. Eyrunik simply nodded, understanding that the next attack might be too dangerous for them. Eyrunik was only 500 years old; he was created long ago, right after the crash against Earth, and since that moment, he had always been a good weapon to use against humans.

As for the humans, Darian woke up before the others. He wanted to update his diary with two new enemies.

On the first page, he wrote about 'Hollowroot'. He classified it as a number 3 enemy.'This enemy might look like a tree, but it is 100 times larger than normal ones. It has got this huge hole in its stomach; it looks like this creature isn't really alive. From what Allocen told me, it regenerated its arm almost immediately, so its regeneration is extremely high. From what I could see, its height was around 17 feet. I can't believe such big creatures exist. This creature doesn't actually move really fast; it can even stand on two feet, but from what Allocen told me, once it stayed like that, it was extremely vulnerable, so they don't usually live like that. The Hollowroot had really sharp claws on its arms, which were able to easily make trees fall.'

Then Darian returned to the page where he wrote about humans and added a new one: 'Anacreon.''From what we were able to see, this human is an Alterid and has got the power to open purple portals. We don't know if he actually has a limit of distance, but he was able to open one in Skar-Zhul's cave, so we thought it might be infinite range. From what Bianca told us, he doesn't stand with the krukins because he hates humans or wishes for them to be dead — he just wants to see destruction happening. That is probably why he is with the enemy. He is different from Sappho, who has a horn on her head, so we came to the conclusion that the black planet doesn't change you; she probably did something else to change herself.'

Darian fully updated his journal. It was still early in the morning; his companions would awake soon. Snowy was still sleeping on his lap, it hadn't woken up during the night, or if it had, Darian wouldn't have noticed because he was asleep.

'I wonder how Yalemba is…' thought Darian as he started to pet Snowy on his lap, wondering what would happen in the future.
