"It's finally the day…" whispered Liro the following day. The moment the group was about to exit their cell, they all looked at each other for a moment before stepping outside the small room.
"Finally, we're coming out." Vane gave a small kick to the metal bars next to him. "I can't do this anymore, these days have been so boring…" With that, he slowly removed his feet from the bars and crushed his fists together. "But finally, today becomes more interesting," he added.
"I agree, still we need to be lucky… if that Ashikunz arrives, our plan will be over in less than a minute," said Lily, a bit worried.
"Yeah… Tyel recommended using as much poisoned roots as you could to stop him, and I'll distract him with my illusions." Suddenly, the cells had already turned empty, realizing that all the prisoners had gone to work, the group immediately started to walk to reach their workspace as well.
"They described him as one of the worst enemies we could ever face… meh, I wonder how much power he actually has," answered Lily, and with this, the group reached the machines to work.
"Ahhh… we're outside finally," said Vane as he stretched the moment he came out into the garden. Looking around, the air was still as heavy as yesterday after Corvinus killed that guard; most of the prisoners were staying far from the bushes and remained on the benches.
"First of all, you need to come to this same corner tomorrow. It doesn't matter which guard is there; thanks to Orechin's power, I'll be able to put them to sleep." The group clearly remembered the first instruction Tyel had given them yesterday.
"C'mon, we should not lose any time," whispered Liro as he looked over at his other friends, who nodded their heads and started to walk toward the designated spot.
"I don't know which guard you might find there, but Lily, you need to create a root that goes directly outside the wall. You can feel it if someone touches it, right?" This was the second thing Tyel had told them. The group kneeled down next to a bush, and Lily was about to create the root that would go directly to the other side when suddenly the guard looking over that spot noticed the group and got closer to them.
"You don't have to stay here!" shouted the guard as he spoke with a commanding tone. "Remember what happened yesterday with Corvinus? I'm sure neither of us wants that to happen." Tyel had warned them that the guard might tell them to go away. "And based on what he says, you'll have to figure out by yourselves how to answer, I can't predict that in any way."
"Oh, guard, we're sorry, we were just talking to ourselves about the day." Liro suddenly got to his feet and touched Lily's shoulder, giving her the signal to actually move the root underground. Lily, positioned under Liro, nodded her head and immediately created the root, making it pass underground unnoticed.
"I don't care about that. You know what might happen to us if Corvinus finds you here?" asked the guard, annoyed. It felt like for him it was alright to leave this small group there as long as he could hear their conversation, but for Corvinus, it clearly wasn't alright.
"We promise that if anything bad happens, we will immediately go away and return to the middle of the garden," said Liro with a serious tone. The guard gave an annoyed answer. "Tch, alright… but I'll remain here so that I can listen to what you're saying."
The guard positioned himself not far from the group so that he could both mind his own business and listen to their conversation. 'They're not even talking… I can do everything else, they aren't a problem,' thought the guard as he returned to his position.
Liro looked at Lily with a serious expression. Lily, understanding that he was wondering how much more time it would take her, waited for a moment before answering. "I'm almost there. I can almost feel the air," she whispered as she concentrated.
"I've never done anything like this, feeling the touch on a single root requires a lot of concentration," she added as she remained focused. In all of this, Vane's purpose was to talk about something totally random with his voice a bit louder than the others, so that the guard could hear him and understand that they weren't doing anything harmful.
"I agree, even if all this work is useful, my hands will always hurt," said he, speaking with a higher tone so that the guard understood they were simply talking about work. The guard kept giving them different looks, but thanks to Vane, the guard didn't get closer and remained further away.
"I'm there," said Lily as she smirked. Hearing these words, both Liro and Vane smirked too. "Then you just need to feel the touches from Tyel, right?" asked Liro, as he was extremely excited to finally go outside. Next to him, Vane was shaking so much that it was visible to the other guard too.
"Ahh… finally after this break is finished we can eat something. I can't stop thinking about what they will give to us," shouted Vane while breathing heavily. It felt like he wasn't hiding anything, especially because the other guard nearby could hear him too.
"So, Tyel? Where is this root?" said Syrmax as he walked next to Tyel. However, currently, his whole body was different. He wasn't small anymore; he no longer had the shirt, and his body was more muscular. He didn't even have the monocle anymore. His hair, still orange, was of a totally different shape; it felt like it was somehow charged.
"It should be around here… I told her to leave it here…" While Syrmax was totally different, Tyel was still the same, but he had the Timehors mask over his face and a huge golden cape covering his whole body. This was exactly the same outfit that his favorite hero wears in the comics he used to read when he was a child.
"Oh, here!" almost shouted Tyel as he finally spotted Lily's root near some old boxes. Currently, there weren't any guards around and near the building it was totally empty, so no one could spot them.
"Be fast… I'm getting too charged," said Syrmax, annoyed by the fact that Tyel remained stuck watching the root for a few seconds.
Tyel snapped back to reality and immediately nodded his head. "Oh, right!" With that, he gave the first bump to Lily's roots that she could feel.
"It's the first one," whispered Lily as she smiled warmly, her heart beating faster. Finally, in a few moments, they would be out.
"The moment you free the roots, I'll touch it three times. The first one is to warn you that we're here and you should get ready, after that, you'll make a small nod with the root so that I can understand that you've gotten the message that we're here. On the second touch, you'll have to remain ready; you need to get to your feet, and Liro should be ready with his magic. Because on the next and last touch, Syrmax will create an explosion for you to come out, and after that, Liro, I need you to…"
After the first bump, the group turned quiet and stopped speaking. The moment the second one arrived, Lily stood up, followed by the others who looked at her smiling.
The moment he got to his feet, Vane finally could stretch. The guard looked curiously at them. 'Oh, so they have decided to move away? Well, that's better, at least if Corvinus arrives, he will not kill anyone…' The guard thought everything was alright, but when he noticed that the group wasn't moving at all, he remained confused for a moment.
"Hey, shouldn't you three move away?" asked the guard as he got closer. After that, the third bump against the root finally arrived, and it was the final signal. Vane looked behind Lily for a moment, saw her smirk, and realized it was time.
"Yeah, we're going away. We'll not stay in this prison anymore," said Vane in a playful tone. The guard, who was confused, immediately opened his eyes in both anger and confusion. "What? Are you guys jok—" The guard couldn't even finish his sentence before a huge explosion happened right behind him.
The wall of the prison exploded and a small crater was created, but the exact moment this hole appeared, multiple holes started to appear throughout the entire wall, offering many chances for the prisoners to escape. All the prisoners, who had never seen anything like that, immediately ran toward these holes.
"WHAT? ARE WE FREE?" shouted one of them as he couldn't contain his excitement.
"Is this a dream?" whispered an old woman as she remained still, wondering what to do, but soon enough she began to run too.
Panic was expanding in all the prisons, and the robots immediately rang the bell, signaling that something dangerous was happening in the city. "What? You'll not pass through here!" The guards were better trained than the prisoners and knew how to fight; most of their spells were stronger than those of the prisoners.
"What? You'll not come out of he—" The guard in front of Liro and the others was brutally interrupted again as a hand covered in a golden glove covered his mouth. The group immediately recognized him, it was Tyel.
Tyel was currently holding a green crystal, and the more it entered into contact with the guard, the weaker he became, and soon enough he completely passed out. While all of this happened, Lily used her spell to create multiple roots full of leaves that, if seen in such a bad situation, one would think was an extremely large bush.
"You two go out, Syrmax is waiting for you," whispered Tyel. Lily and Vane immediately nodded their heads as they understood that everything was finally alright for them. "But are you sure you two can do it alone?" asked Lily, worried. The moment Vane went outside, he immediately rushed toward Syrmax, whose body was no longer as muscular as before, in fact, his body had returned to its small size and his hair was normal.
"Don't worry, we're the only ones who can do this without any problem," said Tyel with a serious tone. Lily nodded her head. "We'll wait for you in that base of yours…" she said as she started to go outside, but suddenly she stopped. "And free the others," she said without turning back. Both Liro and Tyel nodded their heads.
The whole garden had become chaotic, no one could actually understand what was happening. The guards couldn't fight against this many prisoners, and more robots were arriving in the garden with their rifles.
In the front, there were the prisoners fighting against the guards, while behind, some prisoners were trying to counter the robots, but tons of them arrived, it was impossible to keep track of them.
Suddenly, one of the guards fell to his knees and didn't have time to cast an actual spell when a prisoner in front of him shouted as hard as he could, "I'll finally be freeeee!!" He launched himself into the hole next to the guard. 'Mom… Dad… I'll be free again… I'm returning!' he thought while flying through the air, when suddenly his body bumped against something solid.
In fact, the prisoner remained confused for a moment when he suddenly put his hand into this huge hole and realized that there wasn't actually a hole, and the wall was still there, it was just of a different color.
The prisoner remained confused and stayed still. Without noticing, the robots immediately shot multiple bullets at him, killing him on the spot.
'Damn… sorry, but our survival is more important,' thought Liro as he looked over at the poor prisoner getting brutally murdered. He looked at Tyel next to him, who nodded his head. "It's time," he said. Liro nodded back, and suddenly all the holes in the wall completely disappeared.
"And you, Liro, once Syrmax destroys the wall, create an illusion of the same wall with as many holes as you can. A lot of panic will spread throughout the garden, and we will be able to pass without any problem," Tyel had said.
"But wouldn't that be a problem for the prisoners who will try to escape? What if they die?" asked Liro, unsure about all the deaths this plan could create.
"I know…" Tyel had suddenly smashed his hand against the tree. "But we can't save everyone, and a revolution can only happen with blood and dead people. We're the rebels after all, we will do everything to protect this city… even if it means making some sacrifices," Tyel answered. He was sad, knowing it was impossible for them to save everyone, and that for the happiness of the whole city, some people had to suffer.
The moment the holes in the wall disappeared, most of the prisoners realized it was over and that nothing was real, and they immediately fell back to their knees. Most of the people, mainly those who wanted to do everything in order to escape, tried everything with their magic to go away, but the robots with their rifles were able to shoot them.
There were some people who could use wind magic who tried to fly up, but they were shot in their legs and hands and fell down. Others who could use dirt magic tried to create stone pillars, but the guards who could use water magic made them soft so that they would collapse almost instantly.
Liro used his magic to make himself and Tyel almost invisible, as their bodies appeared exactly like the wall behind them, so no one could spot them. They passed very slowly, trying not to look at the scenes happening in the garden. 'We're sorry… but those of you who survived… you'll be free soon.' With this thought, Tyel, together with Liro, entered inside the prison; they were finally inside.
