"... Going back home, huh."
"Yes."
The way his wrinkled face lit up while clapping on his knees made me realise that I was missing the whole point of his visit. Natasha's matter and even my marriage weren't important to him right now.
So that's why he's here… I thought, surprised that I noticed only now that he said that.
This invitation wasn't rare. It came at least once a year ever since I left home. Being too immersed in work and my problems I must have forgotten that his anniversary is just around the corner...Now that I know, I feel guilty… but little can I do now that it's come to this. I should just focus on letting Gramps feel at ease.
"Sounds good… what are we eating?" I asked, already knowing the answer.
"Fried chicken, of course." He smiled while both of us sipped from our cups.
"... It's been a while."
"I'll buy you two servings, you seem to be losing weight."
"You should follow your advice, your knees have been acting up, right?"
"Now you worry about me."
