"You were right!" She sang out, her voice full of warmth. "Thank you so much, Chairman!" As if they were in their own world, they somehow ticked me off with their easy camaraderie.
"I am still right here." I cut in, my voice dry. "In front of our employees, I would appreciate it if you didn't refer to me as a brat, Sir."
"That's not my fault. Your employees fear you, you know? Don't you think you should be called a brat for that? Miss Burry had a hard time!"
"What?" Is she afraid of me too? At what he said, I felt like something wasn't right. A cold knot formed in my stomach, a sudden, sharp dislike of the very idea, and I impulsively asked without thinking twice. "You fear me?"
For a moment, it felt as if I was talking to Connor at the bus stop once I met her nonchalant eyes.
