"He won't get the jump on us," Lingyun insisted. "We know the hotel, we will be prepared."
"You know where the hotel used to be. I felt the tunnels beneath it, and he felt me following them," I countered. I pressed my palm against the bite when another dull ache moved through my leg. "If the connection closes completely before we get there, you'll be digging through half of downtown hoping you find the correct hole."
Lingyun looked toward Zhenlan, but the other man didn't offer him an easier answer. They all knew I was right, which was probably making the situation worse.
Chenghai picked up his phone again and enlarged the downtown map. "Even if you can follow the tether, we need more information before anyone enters that area. The last available camera went down months ago, and every road through the core is blocked."
