Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Hagoromo Takes A Master

Although he spoke of saving the world,

in Arisu's heart, he just wanted revenge for Kaguya stabbing him in the back back then!

As the saying goes, cutting off someone's source of wealth is like killing their parents.

Kaguya directly cut off the opportunity that originally belonged to him. On top of that, Arisu had been deceived and even took the risk to help her fight Isshiki.

In the end, he was tricked.

Although Arisu had a good temper, this was going too far.

If Arisu just laughed it off and chose not to take revenge, that would be truly stupid.

'Sigh, my training is still not enough. If a few hundred more years pass, I might not even get angry anymore…' When Arisu noticed his unstable mood, he sighed slightly in his heart.

If a few hundred more years passed, these things might not hurt that much..

So sometimes Arisu really could not understand why in other novels, some old monsters who had lived for hundreds of years still got angry at the slightest thing.

How old was he himself? Yet he was already becoming calm and steady.

All illnesses in the world come from anger.

Only by keeping a good mood can you live long.

'Let it go! Let it go! Let it go!'

The silence in the hall was broken by Hagoromo's heavy breathing. The knuckles of his clenched fists turned white, and the three tomoe Sharingan trembled violently in his eyes.

Hagoromo looked at Arisu with a slight tremble in his gaze, but there was more determination in it. "Sage, what should we do?"

"Mother… Kaguya, she is already beyond saving."

Arisu slowly stood up. His black and red robe brushed across the ground of the empty hall, making a soft sound.

"The path of resistance is nine deaths and one life."

"Kaguya possesses the power of the God Tree's fruit. She is immortal. With just your current Sharingan and Byakugan, you cannot even break through her defense."

Arisu walked to stand before the two of them. His gaze swept across their eyes, his tone steady as a mountain.

"I wish to take you as my master, Sage. Please grant me your teachings!"

After saying this, Otsutsuki Hagoromo directly knelt down on one knee.

"Big brother!" Hamura's cry suddenly rang out.

He instinctively looked at Arisu on the high platform, then turned back to stare at Hagoromo's back, his voice carrying a faint tremble.

"Do you know what this means? We are going to oppose Mother…!"

Hamura clenched his palms tightly, his knuckles turning white.

From Arisu's words, he learned that Mother Kaguya had been controlled by Isshiki and almost turned into a sacrifice, and the grievances of being hurt by that scumbag man. Because of that, Hamura always held a trace of pity for her.

But the image in the crystal ball of Mother stabbing Arisu in the back, the piles of corpses under the God Tree, and Haori's cold face were like sharp knives, stabbing through his bottom line again and again.

"She may have had her reasons, but… but stabbing the Sage in the back and harming the innocent, can that also be forgiven?"

Otsutsuki Hagoromo said in a deep voice.

"Yes…" Hamura murmured, his tone full of painful struggle. His eyes drifted between Hagoromo and the empty air, as if searching for an answer that could convince himself.

"Hamura!"

"At this point, what are you still hesitating about?" Hagoromo suddenly raised his head. The red light of the three tomoe Sharingan flared up.

"Think about Haori!!"

Hagoromo suddenly raised his hand and grabbed the magatama necklace at his neck, which had long turned cold.

Haori had tied it on him with her own hands while she was alive. Now it had become the sharpest reminder.

"Have you forgotten how Haori died? She was just an ordinary human who never harmed anyone, yet she was turned into a sacrifice by Mother and became that cold cocoon!"

"Mother's rule is built on the bones of countless people! Do you think those who were sacrificed had no families? No one they cared about?"

"If this continues, the entire ninja world will become a living hell. All life will become her chess pieces to resist her clan! What is there left to miss about such a mother?"

Hagoromo suddenly stood up and turned to face Hamura directly.

His voice was deafening.

"But… she is our mother!"

"We should at least talk to her first. Maybe… maybe she can turn back?"

Hamura was still making his final struggle. In his mind flashed the occasional gentleness his mother had shown.

Arisu on the platform watched the two brothers silently the whole time.

He was also quietly positioning the two of them in his heart.

No wonder Hamura would later choose to go to the moon to accompany his mother.

Although Hamura chose to stand with his brother against her, he still loved his mother in his heart.

Arisu's gaze fell on Hamura.

Now it was time for him to speak.

"Blood ties are the hardest bonds in the world to let go of."

"Kaguya was betrayed and suffered hardship. Perhaps that is why she walked down an extreme path. But that can never be an excuse for harming the innocent or breaking her promises."

Arisu paused. His eyes swept over Hagoromo's hand gripping the necklace, then returned to Hamura's face.

"You want to talk to her because of the bond between mother and son. That heart is precious."

"But you must understand, once some paths are taken wrong and some sins are committed, there is no turning back."

"Her heart is already filled with fear and selfish desire. Negotiation will only make more people pay the price." Arisu spoke slowly, his gaze deep.

Hagoromo, hearing this, knelt on one knee again, lowering his head even further. "What the Sage says is right!"

"I have made up my mind. No matter the cost, I will stop Mother! I beg the Sage to accept me as your disciple and teach me the power to fight against her!"

Arisu looked at Hagoromo.

To be honest, at the beginning he did not intend to take the future Sage of Six Paths as his disciple. He only wanted to use his hand to take revenge on Kaguya.

But since the Sage of Six Paths came to him on his own, then…

he would not hold back.

Hamura stood in place, his expression shifting.

Arisu looked at Hagoromo's determined face, then at Hamura's conflicted one, and slowly nodded.

He raised his hand and waved it. A gentle sage chakra turned into a band of light and softly landed on Hagoromo.

"I can accept you as my disciple and teach you the sage arts of Mount Myoboku, as well as ninjutsu that can contend with Kaguya.

"But Hamura, I will not force you. You can choose to follow me and learn, or you can choose to go see Kaguya.

"I only remind you, when you find her, the one you face may no longer be the occasionally gentle mother in your memory, but a dictator completely swallowed by power and fear." Arisu sighed slightly as he spoke.

Hagoromo's eyes burst with wild joy. He knocked his head to the ground.

His forehead struck the cold rock heavily, making a clear sound.

As for Hamura, he still stood there, looking at his kneeling brother with a complicated gaze.

Then he looked at Arisu on the high platform, calm and indifferent. The scale in his heart between family and justice slowly began to tilt.

Soon, Otsutsuki Hamura made a compromise decision.

"Sage, I will first go back and talk to Mother. If she remains stubborn, I will return!" Otsutsuki Hamura bowed slightly and spoke respectfully.

Arisu nodded and reminded him, "Be careful."
